Jura Z10 Automatic Coffee Machine (Diamond Black)

A masterpiece of Swiss engineering, the Jura Z10 doubles the range of speciality coffees — at the touch of a button it prepares the full spectrum of hot drinks, from intense espresso to on-trend flat white, and it also opens up a whole new dimension in coffee enjoyment with the introduction of cold brew specialities. This is made possible thanks to the Product Recognising Grinder (PRG), which recognises the chosen speciality and instantly and precisely adjusts the fineness of grind accordingly. Jura has developed the pioneering Cold Extraction Process — cold water is slowly pulsed through the freshly ground coffee under high pressure. The result is a completely new way of experiencing coffee — refreshing, energising and with a wonderfully balanced aroma. This outstanding premium coffee machine features a double-speed 4.3” touch display and the Blue Crystal Rotary Switch. Thanks to the Speciality Selection menu and artificial intelligence, it’s exceptionally easy and intuitive to use. It also features a striking sculptural design — the convex-concave front panel is visible proof of attention to detail and absolute manufacturing precision. Its high quality makes the Z10 a statement of excellent taste.

A very nice machine

If you prefer to just touch a button and enjoy a wide variety of coffee creations, then this machine is for you. My partner and I have been enjoying the Z10 for a couple of weeks now, so I can't speak to the longevity or durability. That said, I'll highlight what I can after this brief period of ownership. 1) Ease of set up-extremely easy. Just pull it out of the box, follow a few instructions and in a few minutes you're brewing. 2) Interface- Not great would be my feedback. We have accidentally brewed a lot of items we didn't really want to make in just trying to explore settings. Making adjustments can be somewhat difficult to find (definitely not intuitive). That said, after the learning curve, it's very straightforward. 3) Quality of drinks-As a self-proclaimed ... MoreIf you prefer to just touch a button and enjoy a wide variety of coffee creations, then this machine is for you. I prefer the control of a manual brew machine, but in the interest of compromise we settled on the Z10. I do think it brews a decent shot. We were very disappointed with the milk temp, but after finally finding the setting to increase the milk temp it is better (factory is an 8 out of 10, we are now using a 10 setting). Overall, if you are looking for a super automatic, I'm not sure you can find one with more options. It's a quality machine we are both very happy with.

WLL couldn't help other than an exchange, and Jura doesn't list the tray on their parts site, so I repaired it with some epoxy. Better than shipping this one back and waiting around for a replacement to be shipped. I really think this 'critical' piece could be made more robust on a machine at this price point.

Glad I chose Z10 for cold brew
29 April 2022

I wanted a super automatic coffee machine and had decided on Jura. Was on the fence about the cold brew technology. Glad I purchased Z10. I have had for almost 6 months and now weather is warm enough to enjoy cold brew. Am more than happy I purchased cold brew capability. The hot brew drinks were what I expected out of this well built machine and the cold brew is a great product as well. I compared iced hot brew with iced cold brew and there was a much improved taste difference between the two. If you are looking for good cold brew coffee I recommend the Z10. I also recommend purchasing the cup warmer for hot beverages. Because my city has very hard water I am reluctant to rely solely on the descaling tablets to keep the machine in good working order. If Jura has any comments on the use of descaling tablets vs the filters that would be helpful. It feels so wasteful to dispose of a plastic covered filter every 20 days and I cringe every time I need to change it.

Good coffee, bad build quality, even worse customer service
25 January 2023

I had previously given this machine a 5-star review because of the great coffee it makes, but I have to take that away due to the poor build quality and Jura's unwillingness to stand by a product that I paid nearly $4000 for less than 4 months ago. The coffee it makes it fantastic, no issues there. The real problem is that I don't have much faith the machine will last and I've learned that Jura will not stand by their product. The backsplash part of my drip tray/grid has hairline cracks within it. The grid was always hand-washed and never mishandled or dropped. The cracks appear to be stress cracks inside the part as you can't feel them on the surface. I called the customer service number and was on hold for over 20 minutes, I left a message. I emailed them and received a generic and unhelpful reply. They did eventually call back the next day, but I missed the call. I called again and was on hold for 10 minutes this time before someone picked up. The person who picked up showed 0 ownership of the issue and had the gall to tell me that, sure Jura is willing to send me a new grid, but it'll cost me $125 plus shipping. When we expressed our disappointment and concern of the build quality on this 4-month-old machine her response was "ok". The machine also has started making a very audible 'click' noise when starting the rinse cycle; I'm thankful I bought a 3rd party extended warranty because I don't foresee this machine lasting long and I now know that Jura won't stand by their product. Extremely disappointed in the build quality of the Z10 and even more disappointed in Jura's customer service.

Great machine but difficult interface/app
6 November 2022

To start, I love what this machine can do and have been thrilled with its performance until the last few days. The top 2 things I love most are the ability to customize and save favorite products, and, the ease of maintenance, especially cleaning the milk line. These features along with the app/WiFI connections are the reasons I was willing to splurge and buy this machine. All has been well for the last few weeks, but then, it happened - - my machine would not connect to the app. After multiple attempts to reconnect (including multiple delete/add the app, disconnect/reconnect to WiFi network, etc.), the machine remains disconnected. After considerable research, appears the connection problems are the result of a bug that found its way into the app via the update 3.2.5 that was released about 3 weeks ago. I've tried multiple times to obtain tech support from Jura and that has yet to happen. I'm leaving this review to caution buyers who are making their decisions based upon the customization and app features as I did. I'm hopeful that Jura Support will call me back and I will update this review. If not, I will be forced to return the machine.

Haven't told her how much I paid and she doesn't care

I haven't told my wife how much I paid for this machine and honestly she doesn't even care anymore because the coffee is so worth it. She's European so coffee is in her blood and for a while we were using another super-automatic machine from a different brand. It worked, and I thought it worked great, but I could tell she wasn't quite happy. I realized after my first coffee from the Z10 that I was wrong: our previous machine did NOT work great, in fact it was quite terrible. The only downside to this is now the amount of money I'm going to have to spend on coffee beans because the two of us go through close to 10 cups a day together but also the cost of all the maintenance supplies. The only downside to this is now the amount of money I'm going to have to spend on coffee beans because the two of us go through close to 10 cups a day together but also the cost of all the maintenance supplies. The cost of the supplies is the only reason I almost took a star away from my rating, but I realized that giving it 4 stars wouldn't speak to the quality of the machine nor the coffee which definitely deserve a full 5 stars. I guess just be aware of the on-going costs, but then again if you're buying a nearly $4K coffee machine you're probably not too concerned about spending $50 every few months for cleaning supplies or filters. The wi-fi was annoying to setup because it only accepts 2.4ghz band and not 5ghz where my router is setup for both using one network name. I had to disable the 5ghz band on my router and then I was able to setup wifi on the machine and then re-enable 5ghz on the router again. But it's been working just fine ever since initial setup was completed. I think eventually I'll get the cup warmer and the milk cooler, but again I'll have to do that without telling my wife the costs and then let her fall in love with the stuff :)

Jura Perfection!

As a previous Jura fan for the last 10 years, we decided to have our old Jura fixed through the factory program. Our plan is to used the refurbished one in the basement kitchen and enjoy the Z10 in the upstairs kitchen. First let me say the repair process Jura offers is easy to navigate! They stand behind their product beyond a simple warranty! Let me focus on the Z10… 10 years of improvements have served it well. The bean container shows the bean level through a clear top. The design eliminates the hinge door with beans getting stuck and accessibility is greatly improved. The water container has improved and mounting is easier to use as will as aesthetically pleasing. It has all the bells and whistles of new graphics and personal brewing options. Coffee house selections will come soon for us but let me say, if it only served coffee I would be happy! The coffee is hot with a beautiful crème! I purchased glass cups just to see the layers as I added cream. Best way to wake up in the morning! Expensive but worth it!

Novice user, very impressed

Bought this on at the recommendation of more coffee-educated friends, having never owned (or even heard of) Jura before. Color me very impressed. I am a huge milk-based coffee drinker, and hate the capsule products (which taste nothing like the real thing), but have no ability or desire to learn how to make espresso, lattes, or cappuccinos myself. This machine makes my latte (or cappuccino or flat white) perfectly, in my house, with real milk and real espresso beans, just like the barista at the coffee shop would. And the end product tastes great. Here are my pros & cons, after having this for a few weeks: Pros: 1/ Large containers = not many refills needed. You press your button of choice, can customize in real-time (less strong espresso, extra milk or foam, etc.), and the drink is ready very quickly. 3/ The taste is great. I mean, this really does taste like someone in a coffee shop just made this for me. I look forward to having my 2-3 (or 6) lattes in the morning now. It's such a treat to roll out of bed, press and button, and have a perfect cup. 4/ Milk rinsing is a lot easier than I thought it would be. I was really worried about the "work" factor involved in this machine; turns out it's pretty minimal. It rinses itself constantly (see "con" below) and automatically, so other than keeping a cup there, you don't need to do much. And "milk cleaning" involves exactly three steps, moving the milk pipe from one spot to another, adding cleaner, and pressing a button. it's absurdly easy. Since milk drinks were my reason for purchasing this machine, this is a HUGE pro as compared to other machines where you have to take apart pieces, etc. Cons: 1/ Non-intuitive sizing of drinks. The standard that Jura uses is fairly small drinks. And while they calculate espresso in ounces, they calculate milk and milk foam in "seconds." What the heck is this? For people that are used to Starbucks sizing (me), you have to really guess at how to increase the volume from a handful of ounces to, say, 16 ounces for a large mug or to-go cup. I wish they'd provide an easy milk conversion, i.e., ounces, and I wish they'd give you a better sense of how much volume milk foam takes up in the cup. I still can't get it right for my bigger mugs. Related, you can only really go up to 16 ounces for the biggest milk-based drinks. Beyond that you have to "order" a second serving of the drink. I do wish they had a feature to make 20-ouncers which are more appropriate for to-go cups. (Note this does not apply to coffee, which does have a "jug" option for bigger pours.) 2/ ALL THE RINSING. This thing is constantly (automatically) rinsing itself, which is kind of annoying - before milk drinks, after milk drinks, before it turns off, when it turns on. Not only does it run through water more quickly as a result (but see above, the water tank is pretty big!), but (more importantly) it means I have to always have a "rinse" cup there, which -- in practice -- means you can't put a mug there at night, and then pre-order from your JOE app the next morning, unless you want dirty water in your cup before your espresso gets poured (because once you remotely turn on the machine, it will "rinse" itself, right into your waiting coffee mug). 3/ Related, the JOE app, which is brilliant in concept, stinks in reality. The idea of pre-ordering and customizing your favorite drink is very appealing, except that the app constantly goes offline and you have to reconnect right next to the machine. So pretty much you're not going to be ordering from bed in the morning. Even if the pre-rinse thing weren't an issue. 4/ Touch screen is too sensitive and non-intuitive to boot. I have given up on it and just use the rotary dial, which is very easy to use. When I have some spare time, I'll try to figure out how to use the touch screen successfully. (I shouldn't have to spend time figuring this out.) *** Other than a handful of cons (relatively minor in the grand scheme of things), this machine is great. Easy/quick/delicious espresso-based drinks at the push of a button. What's not to love?

Very good consistent drinks!

I was looking to upgrade from a Philips Latte Go machine, so I started researching Jura models (have always heard they were good machines). I found the Z10 to be a new model with the latest tech for Cold Brew coffees, in addition to making auto milk/foam lattes (with an easy milk cleaning system). Being that Crate and Barrel has a generous return policy, I decided to give the Z10 a chance. I have to say, the lattes are amazing and CONSISTENT. Once I found the exact amount of milk/foam/strength/aroma - they’ve all been made with the same quality. You can also select the temperature for the water, milk, and milk foam. Also, the pucks made by the machine (for strong coffees) are nice and big! I believe the description said up to 16 grams. Also, the pucks made by the machine (for strong coffees) are nice and big! I believe the description said up to 16 grams. The Cold Brew does indeed taste good when made small (not as a latte). If you make a milk latte Cold Brew, I recommend adding a cold espresso shot to it. The milk cleaning system is extraordinarily easy. I do a milk cleaning at the end of the day. It takes 3 minutes and is effortless. Being that I never had a Jura, I watched videos on cleaning older models and it is definitely more work compared to the Z10. There are 2 things I don’t like. 1st is that if you touch a drink icon, it immediately makes a drink! Sometimes I’m trying to swipe to the next page but accidentally brew a drink. They should add a confirmation button OR count down timer (like their app has). 2nd thing- speaking of the app, be sure to connect it via a 2.4 ghz WiFi connection or else it will not work! Note that your phone has to be on that 2.4 ghz WiFi before you setup the app to the machine. Also I dislike that you cannot schedule a drink to be made at a certain time! This is a big missed opportunity by Jura, especially if you pair the Z10 to the Cool Control (there is a new 2022 model that works great, make sure you get the new one). Overall I am very happy with the purchase, definitely makes cafe quality drinks! It’s also very convenient when paired with the Cool Control.
