After my stock head unit decided to stop working properly and one TERRIBLE replacement head unit from Pioneer, I ended up driving an hour away to pick up this head unit to install in my 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, and it it absolutely amazing, as soon as I plug my phone in CarPlay shows up ready for me to use, and the sound quality is fantastic (in contrast to other units I have used which had poor quality). Call quality is amazing as well, so much so that some people I’ve called didn’t even realize I was in the car! I like the radio itself, I chose this one specifically because the screen is super responsive and quick. The interface isn't too complicated and it had apple carplay. Well I can't get the carplay to work since getting it installed, it was only installed a few weeks ago and it already stopped working. It isn't powering on at all. I waited 3 months for the install appointment, now I have to wait another few weeks for the repair appointment. it's just really inconvenient and a hastle. I even have the total tech membership, everyone ive dealt with is really nice but the process just takes forever, transfer after transfer on the phone and waiting for appointments. I can't tell if the actual radio itself is the problem or the service, but its dissapointing

I bought this just last weekend and the set up and everything was great and super easy, didn’t have a single problem thankfully. However, as of a few minutes ago I had to reset the whole unit as the sound glitched and no matter what I did I could not change it. I tried going through different apps and plugging and unplugging my phone. I then thankfully turned into my driveway and turned my car off thinking that would work. To my surprise it did not… the speaker stayed on blasting music even though my car was fully off. I even then tried to turn the unit off and it worked. A little too well. It wouldnt turn back on again until I had to scrummage to find a pin to hit the reset to finally get it working again. Great head unit but for this price I would expect it to not ... Installed on a 2010 Nissan Sentra. I have had the radio for a few weeks now and everything is working great. I guess from what I had it's a huge improvement. I was mostly interested in the Bluetooth and backup camera capabilities. The extra features are just added pluses. It was easy to install. The radio worked well with the radio adapter interface that I bought from amazon to be able to use the control functions on my steering wheel like the volume. Backup camera image looks good, very happy with it. However, I did disabled the guide line feature for the backup camera on the radio and use the guide lines from the camera I bought from Amazon because they were better. Mirroring feature works fine. My wife has an I phone and it works good with Siri as well. My only complaint so far are the volume and home buttons on the left side. They have a little blue LED light to help indicate where the buttons are in the dark but they don't illuminate the image of the button you want to select. so you have to memorize them or guess what button your pressing. At least I can control the volume on my steering wheel. Other than that, overall I'm very happy with the radio. I will update with any updates or with issues that may arise.

The stereo does not have the ability to install apps like netflix that I have seen, so no way to use phone as wifi hotspot for stereo that would solve Android Mirroring limitations.Still a great stereo that works well hands free and it a major upgrade to the stock AM/FM radio. The unit works well and looks good. But the controls are so difficult as to be distracting while driving.See the controls along the left edge? Each has a dash for some inexplicable reason. That makes the icons tiny, impossible to see at night.The volume controls require finding the right tiny icon and repeatedly pushing it while watching the road.Scrolling through the presets on the right side requires reading identical fine print to see which group of presets you're in, then picking one. They should be differentiated by color, or shape, or something.The controls were designed by an engineer for use on a bench or perhaps by the passenger. They're difficult for the driver.

I quickly found out that theres gestures for things which makes it a lot easier to use. Move your finger in a counter clockwise or clockwise motion on the display and itll change the volume. This stereo is horrible! Perhaps I got a lemon. On car play or Bluetooth mode, the music constantly stops and I have to reach over and push play on the screen over and over. It doesn't work with my iPhone, it constantly switches between the car speakers, phone, or phone speaker phone randomly making it nearly impossible to make a call. If my phone rings while driving, my ringtone comes over the speakers at an extremely high volume. All these distractions will get me killed if I don't get it out of my car! Best Buy took almost $600 from me with free installation for all the added wiring stuff it required. So I chose this one because it had a CD player and was on a good sale ($300 compared to $400+) but ultimately returned the unit. The apple carplay quality was bad (the actual screen resolution seemed like 480p while CarPlay was on). Ultimately CarPlay just randomly stopped working one day, maybe it needed a firmware update? Also, the unit had a dimmer option for when its nightime, but the screen barley dimmed and way too bright. Also the menu buttons just werent well thoughtout. Yeah idk, its like they made it this bad on purpose? Ended up going with a sony wireless carplay unit for $500. Am extremly satisfied with the sony. Absolutely worth the $200 more. Ive been happy with pioneer in the past as well. Would not buy jvc anything ever again.
Love Hate Relationship with this stereo. I love the improved sound I am hearing vs. my factory unit. The 12 band equalizer is so cool. My issue is that the JVC unit would not cut off one day when I opened the door. That happening 1 month into ownership. My Best Buy tech said could be a power supply issue. He told me there was a reset button on the front of the unit so I pushed it and my problem was solved. I am hoping that never happens again. I love the fact that I can now see my gps on my screen vs having to just look at my phone. So nice.
