I’ve searched high and low for a light weight sandal that can carry me from a paddle journey to a restaurant and back again without being overly heavy and clunky and completely soaked the whole time. Quick drying neoprene and waterproof uppers do a really wonderful job at accomplishing this. I’ve tried many sandals from many brands like Chaco and Merrell and Salomon and other water shoes. Safe to say none have been this comfortable or this protective while still allowing rocks and sand to be washed away. Easy adjustable lacing system. I had to go up to the 9.5, usually a 9, so I felt they run a little small. The toe bumper is a huge plus as I somehow seem to stub my toe on anything. Hahaha. Prolly next summer I’ll look at getting another pair. Hopefully the Celestial Vapor color comes back!I think my only change to the sandal would be to use vibram rubberAnd having a little more arch support would be nice for this sandal

I like the slightly less structured sole which allows my foot and toes to fully flex as I walk. I figure that for all day use, these sandals are best for feet that are not as wide as mine. My feet are D width. The stretchy lacing and more flexible sole make it possible for me to adjust the upper portion of the shoe to accommodate my wider feet. Good if you need some adjustability in a sandal, as in wearing socks, feet that may get swollen at times. Is not for scrambling up and down a mountain side because are a less structured model.

I use Barefoot hiking boots & love the lightness & the feel of them. They don't do sandals so I tried Keen. These sandals are excellent. Only got them today but I've done some (limited) walking in them & they are really comfortable. No chafing, no blistering. They are light & virtually slip on. I have narrow feet but these are a perfect fit. With the bungee elastic you can tighten them to your foot which is fast, eady & comfortable. These have to walk me miles in the near future & I'll report back to how they fare after that. So far, so great!!

After wearing the Whisper sandal for a decade, I opted for the Clearwater CNX since it was a bit lighter, as I often trek long distances.Gone through hundreds of miles of fieldwork & hikes so far, & they have done great in the washing machine.I don't exactly trust the tread grip/traction as much as I did with the Whisper, but no complaints of slipping, either! Really comfortable, as you’d always expect from KEEN.Fits more true to size in comparison to the Whisper, which I found to run a little small.
I have very wide, high-volume, flatish feet and always have a hard time finding shoes that fit me well. But THESE! These have been my go-to's for backpacking for many years now! I love how the sole is not too thick so I can feel the ground under my feet, yet still be protected from sharp stones. No weird rubbing or blisters when new or after many miles. Sturdy and have held up to lots of abuse. No need to change shoes at water crossings with these puppies on your feet! I can't say enough good about these and hope Keen will continue to make them for years to come!
I've been wearing Keens for many years, so I've had Keen sandals before and the only complaint I've had is how hard and inflexible they've felt. The Clearwater has changed all of that! Their thinner soles still give me the support I need but feel like I'm wearing a slipper! They might not be the best choice if I were actually hiking in them but for around town and at the beach, they're perfect. These are my new "go to" sport sandal, I love them!
The Clearwater (alongside the Terradora family) was my entree into Keen footwear. When my feet were still too narrow even for the Whisper, I could make the Clearwater work. They are not a very substantial sandals -- the Clearwater debuted as one of the founding pieces of the CNX collection of minimalist footwear. While it offers decent protection, it doesn't offer very much in the way of support. Of course, it is not supposed to. That means, however, that the Clearwater isn't for everyone. If you have very hardy feet and like a soft, flexible sandal to feel the ground beneath you, but still want the protection offered by a closed toe, then the Clearwater is perfect. If you buy them expecting them to feel like Whispers or Newports, you will be disappointed. I use ... MoreThe Clearwater (alongside the Terradora family) was my entree into Keen footwear. I love all the keen sandals. They are useful in the water as well as every day. The siping (thin grooves in the sole like dog's paws.) give good grip esp. when wet. They are very comfortable but are more minimal sole than h2's. If Keen would come out with this or a similar purple, I'd replace these. I do not like pink. I do not like wimpy colors that pretend to be purple. I have some of the other keen sandals in blue and a deep raspberry (as Close to red or pink as I can handle.) and a red and Grey sandal.
I have worn Clearwater CNX shoes, nearly every day, for YEARS! They are light weight and the fit is just right for me. I love the low heel. The arch support is very comfortable; it's in exactly the right place for my feet. I have lower back problems and Clearwater CNX provides better support than any other shoes I have. I have bought Clearwater CNX in many colors, and I'm always looking for new colors to come out. I especially like the colors that are fairly solid, or two shades that blend with each other rather than contrast - these go well with many things I wear. Thank you, Keen!
I ordered a pair of these sandals in size 8 to replace my old pair. The newer version fits perfectly. The color is attractive and bright. I plan to use them on my upcoming lake vacation. It is so nice to be able to seamlessly replace a product. So many manufacturers discontinue styles and compromise quality. I most definitely recommend these sandals.
