I purchased these boots in January 2018 and have put some 200-300 miles (some demanding) on them through varying wet dry conditions. Not long ago I noticed, where the leather stripping adjoining the lateral side of the toe-box sole, was cracking and ripped. This is product defect the manufacturer supposedly addressed with different stitching and glue. Buyer beware. I recommend that if you buy this shoe, use a leather conditioner and-or buy the wider toe-box version. Good luck.

I'm a hard core Keen boot person as I have three pairs myself, and my kiddos have a few pairs too. They are GREAT boots...wide toe box, supportive heal, and truly waterproof. Great for many uses. However, I bought these for my fiance for our out west trip. He had them just about two months and only put about 50 miles on them (working and hiking), and the soles on both boots are separating and falling off. We were so disappointed! Now, we have to find a comparable pair.

I’m a large 15. So my normal size 15 started hurting my toes, I decided to try a size 16. Options are limited in that size, but Keen makes them. I just did my first 2 hikes in North Vancouver. The first in a wet creek bed. The second was 10 miles up rocky, slick , tree root, and snowy tareign. The boots performed very well. Sloshing in the creek bed in the rain my feet stayed dry. Scampering up uneven river rocks, my feet stayed comfortable. I did slip in an odor eater type pad between the removable insert and the sole fir extra comfort. My toes never got cramped. I felt sure footed with the sole grip. The sole fit the shape of my foot very well. I’ll take these on a 6 day sectional of the Appalachian Trail next month.

My last pair of keens were the targhee 2 mid. They were bomb proof and lasted me about 10 years. I wanted to get the new targhee 3s but I wanted a dark brown boot that I could wear to work. I love the keen boots for the generous toe box, and the long term durability, and these appear to be no exception. I've worn this pair everyday for a month and they are an all day shoe that don't wear you out. They are fairly light and look good enough to be worn with khakis and work pants. I was a little disappointed to see that these are not leather. They are more of a heavy nylon upper. It seems sturdy enough but not as stylish as a leather upper. I did see a reviewer who stated the sole is not properly attached to the boot. I did press against some of the lugs on the boots ... MoreMy last pair of keens were the targhee 2 mid. I did see a reviewer who stated the sole is not properly attached to the boot. I did press against some of the lugs on the boots when they first arrived to check the bond. one felt like the glue bond may break if I pushed hard enough, but in a month of daily wear on pavement, mud, and loose gravel I haven't had any issues with the treads breaking loose. I dropped a star because I don't like the look of the nylon uppers, and they went a little crazy with the excessive hi-viz straps. One last thing- the loop on the back of the boot while handy, it sits too low on the heel so it constantly catches the back of your pant leg. Otherwise its a great boot.
I am a big guy 6’ 4” 280, I where these 9-10 hours a day for the last year at work five days a week. At night they go on boot dryers every night. They have never broken a seam and they have been flawless the entire time. The fit is phenomenal and I have a high arch foot and a medium width. I actually bought another pair of these and they are still new in the box because these have not worn out yet. I would highly recommend these they are awesome boots and I’ve never had an issue with quality ever with these boots. I also own the reg low top ones and never had an issue with them either.
This is my second pair of hiking boots from Keen in the same model just different color. I enjoy wearing them casually or for hiking. Very comfortable hiking boots.
Third pair of these, they’re light, water resistant and reasonably durable. Excellent for day walks over moderate terrain. Dispatch took full 5 days but after that my boots arrived safe and sound. I would buy from this seller again.
Quite Disappointing purchase unfortunately. I have been an avid supporter of keen products over the years however these have been the first really disappointing purchase I have made. I bought these just over a year ago and a few months after using them, the top of the right boot ripped - compromising the waterproof-ness of the boot.Recently the grippy bits on the tread have started to peel off (almost as though they were glued on but the glue began to stop working).Additionally the sole of the boot is very thin and it makes walk on any sort of rocks quite painful after a while. You can feel everything through the bottoms of the boots and I often have bruised feet after a multi-day tramp. My partner and I are avid hikers and tramp all over the country. We both ... We both have these boots and have both had multiple issues in the first year since purchasing them.Bottom line: I would spend a bit more money and get a more durable boot. This will ultimately save you money in the long run.
Very disappointing. Very soft weak sole with very little if any arch support. This is my second pair of Keen Mens Targee Exp mid WP hiking boots. The first pair were excellent. I purchased the second pair on line assuming they were the equivalent of my previous pair. I will be returning them to the Waurn Ponds Macpac store where i purchased the first pair hoping for a credit or refund.
Really disappointed in the failure of this shoe. The last pair of Keens (the similar model from 12 years ago) lasted for over 10 years. Amazing shoes. On this pair, the tread started separating after just about a year, and I was only using them for day hikes. Probably under 30 hikes overall. None of them were too extreme, all on groomed trails. But the tread's coming apart. I'm disappointed that REI wouldn't replace them, but at least they gave me some shoe repair goo. We'll see if that helps.Keen: very disappointed in the drop in quality.
