This is the second pair of Keen Targhee EXP’s that I have bought. They are fantastic shoes, the first pair have been used on hikes all around the world and always been up to the task. The new pair are a perfect fit and already going strong. Have a hike in Tassie in a few weeks and very confident they will perform perfectly.

I love the shoes this is my 2nd pair. They're durable they last a long time. They are comfortable. The only thing that you as a company should do to improve the shoes is reinforce the back of the heel on the inside of the shoe. When people are wearing cotton socks which a lot of us do for warmth the back part of the heel will wear away. Keen shoes do this as do all the other brands. I've only found one brand of shoe that this did not occur with. I really love this brand and I will continue to buy them however if you fixed this one issue your shoes again would be perfect. It's the area on the back of the heel that wears out the fabric breaks and it just falls apart that's the most vulnerable part of the shoe and I think it's the most vulnerable part of wear on any ... MoreI love the shoes this is my 2nd pair. Please come up with a new and better durable liner for that back heel and these shoes will last a long time.

Keen makes some excellent hiking shoes. Past experience with Keens have been very positive. Wore these to work for a little bit of breaking in and the comfort was very good right out of the box. Took them on a hike last week and my feet were loving these new pair of Keens. I do not have arches (flat feet) which makes it difficult to find a comfortable pair of hiking shoes. Too high of an arch causes lots of foot pain. Keens are very forgiving considering this aspect. Just hoping that they will last (durability wise) as long as my previous Keens.

My sixth pair of Keens. My first pair of EXP's. Very comfortable as I expected. Fit is perfect. Have only taken a couple of short walks to try them out. Plan to use them to replace a pair of Keens I have been using in the field that still have a lot of useful life left. Got such a good deal on the EXP's I couldn't pass them up. Once the weather turns cold, I will use these around town until they are needed out in the field. It has been seven years since my first pair of Keens and they all have been excellent. I have tried all of the other major brands all good in their own right but Keens are best for me in terms of quality, endurance, fit and comfort.
First, I want to thank the folks (especially Nate) in customer service. I have gone through five or six pairs of sandals (they rock) and wanted to try Keen shoes because of the arch support and stability that I feel even in sandals. Followed the methodology of ordering a half size larger than usual (although most of my running shoes are 10 or 10.5) and settled on 10.5. I got them a few days later and had quite a bit of heel slippage in my left heel. Nate assured me I could return them for another pair, and a few days later I got my size 10s. The first pair I didn't really take out on a trail, mostly the wilderness of our carpeted living room and tiled kitchen. I just knew they would be too big. The first pair I didn't really take out on a trail, mostly the wilderness of our carpeted living room and tiled kitchen. I just knew they would be too big. The 10s, although the left heel felt a little roomy, I figured would ""break in"". Well...I guess I am finding that the Keen shoes are just a bit wide in at least my left heel for me, although otherwise are very comfortable. As weather cools I will try a bit thicker sock which may ""snug"" up the heel for me a bit. They are very well constructed and fit well in every other aspect, and the combination of stiffness, relatively light weight and support let me confidently go through some fairly unstable terrain. If you have really narrow heels you may need to try another brand or play with some of the after-market fixes to get a better fit. That being said, I am getting myself another pair of their sandals soon.
These are truly the best shoes. This is my second pair. I still use my first pair for hiking and for casual purposes. Originally my buddy recommend me to Keen and I will never go back to a different shoe brand. Better than all the other brands hands down. You get what you pay for and its worth every penny. Nice durable shoe with heavy duty nice materials and waterproof You can give this shoe a real beating and it will outlast the beating. Not like the other brands which are expensive and are made from junk materials. Overall this is great shoe and overall great brand. I recommend Keen to everyone that is looking for recommendations on shoes, sandals or boots. Good job Keen. Keep up the good work.
When I discovered KEEN Targhee (had KEEN hiking boots), I thought "this is last shoe I need." My original pair, purchased over a year ago, are basically - perfect - for my feet. I wear them for everything. I had this in mind when I purchased the EXP Waterproof. They are just not quite the same. Fine looking enough, the support I expected is not there and, in fact, the interior foot surface "feels" not uniform (the left heal area seems higher than that of the R shoe). Probably something an insert can fix, but I didn't need inserts with my previous pair.
My first pair of Targhee Exp were my favorite trail running and mountaineering shoes I've ever had. They fit perfect, were waterproof, they were tough, and they got me up some big snowy mountains, and got me through rock climbs on craggy peaks. So I bought a second pair, but quickly found out that the quality control must have gone significantly downhill. The sole started to come unglued and became loose after my first hike. I glued it back on and thought I'd solved the issue as they lasted through my second and third hike. Then, on my 4th hike, the soles on both shoes started falling off. I fortuitously found some old tattered string which I used to literally tie the soles on to keep them on my shoes. This could have been seriously dangerous if I had been in worse ... MoreMy first pair of Targhee Exp were my favorite trail running and mountaineering shoes I've ever had. In summary: these are a dangerous shoe that could leave you stranded without traction mid hike and should not be purchased until this quality control issue is fixed.
I live in Utah so I don't usually think about getting waterproof shoes, because we are in the desert or mountains when outdoors. And we are outdoors a ton. Took a trip back east to Massachusetts and Maine for 8 days and the shoes held up well for hiking, normal day to day walking, and even walking on slick rocks on the shoreline. They have excellent grip and my feet were dry even in wet conditions. The shoes are comfortable enough although I do need to break them in some more and I think they will improve some. This is my 5th pair of Keens - have owned different styles and they've all been great, although I did have eyelets come out of shoes on another pair of Keen work shoes. Even those shoes are still holding up well after a lot of use and abuse working in a ... MoreI live in Utah so I don't usually think about getting waterproof shoes, because we are in the desert or mountains when outdoors. The best thing about these shoes is the wiggle room for toes; no more cramped toes for me. I also like the fairly substantial toe protection. I've had another brand that only provided a thin toe protector that lasted about a year before cracking. The one thing I'm apprehensive about is the fabric tape that the lace goes through at the instep; so far no signs of any wear of the tape!
