I am one to never say no to trying out a new moisturizer, especially with my acne treated DRY skin. My first impression was minimal - there is not much to go by from the packaging other than that it’s a facial cream, so I guess there is a lot of brand recognition with Kiehl’s that I’m probably unfamiliar with as I would never notice this on a store shelf. I have severe dryness under my mouth and nose, and this product has more than enough hydration power to combat those flakes. Would I use this as a daily cream? Probably not. This cream is so concentrated that it almost feels like a treatment, or mask. It completely saturates your skin and does not dry up at all. For daily use, I prefer a moisturizer that absorbs a bit more, leaving less “dew” on the surface. This moisturizer is meant to strengthen your skin barrier and retain moisture with Squalane and Glycerin. There is also something called Glacial Glycoprotein in this which helps balance the moisture levels in your skin. I think this will serve me best as a targeted cream for my extremely dry areas, as the results are instant for rehydrating your dry patches. Other than that, this runs a bit heavy for my normal skin.

I have not had dry patches on my face at all. That in itself is crazy. It plays well with my tretinoin when others make it pill, It absorbs fast enough to be used morning and night, it works wonders with my moringa oil and I have recently added polyglutamic acid with no problems as well. It could be the squalene in it that my skin has needed all these years, not sure, but I cannot believe I waited this long to try this miracle moisturizer.If you have also struggled with dry skin for a long time, I highly recommend giving this moisturizer a try. The texture itself is wonderfully light and non sticky which makes you wonder how on earth it is so moisturizing but it really is. If you really want some results then apply pure, cold pressed moringa oil at night on top of it to lock it in and watch your skin transform!

I tried the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Advanced Repair Barrier Cream. It claims to be a daily balm to cream formula to relieve and intensively repair skin's moisture barrier. It contains key ingredients of colloidal oatmeal and Beta-Glucan. This product is great for dry skin prone to distress and discomfort. First off, I have used several barrier creams in my skincare routine, and I'm highly impressed by Kiehl's formula. It is definitely a balm to cream product. It comes out of the tube in a thick balm feel, but when it goes to the skin it becomes this luxurious cream. I had no reaction from this product. It retained the skins moisture, and it created a healthier skin barrier. It didn't leave my skin feeling greasy. I've used this on my face in my nightly routine, and I can absolutely tell a difference in my skin when I don't use it. My hands are currently starting to show signs from the winter, and I'm going to try and heal that with this product. The great thing about this barrier cream is it's great to use anywhere you experience dry or sensitive skin that needs a barrier repair. I love that it contains healthy ingredients for the skin like Colloidal Oatmeal, the formula works as stated, repairs and improves barrier health, and it doesn't leave the skin greasy, only hydrated I have no cons for this product. I would definitely buy this again, and I highly recommend it!

This cream saved my skin!

I am so glad I got to try this product in exchange for my honest review! I had oily skin my whole life up until about 2 years ago, and I have had such a hard time keeping my sensitive skin happy and moisturized. I just turned 41 and have been using tretinoin as well as hydroquinone, and as soon as the cold weather hit my skin was in trouble. I switched to using the more harsh products only a couple times a week to cut down on the dryness, redness, flaking, and overall irritation I was experiencing. I tried multiple serums and moisturizers but my skin was still inflamed, dry, and even burned when I washed it. Wearing makeup was out of the question as it seemed to make my skin even worse. I have never used any product from this brand and this one sadly is a NO for me.PROS:- It doesn’t leave a white cast.- Hydrating cream, with a nice texture (not too thin, not too thick)- It has glycerin,squalane and hyaluronic acid which are great hydrators.- It smells very good. I like scented formulas although it is not necessary.- Clean at SephoraCONS:- This cream doesn’t work with my skincare. It peels. This is a problem for me because I am not going to stop using my skincare, focused on anti-aging, to use this sunscreen. I anticipated a break-in period where my skin was like, whoa! but it never came. there was an effortless transition from the moisturizer to the one with SPF (i.e., no breakouts, no strange marks, literally nothing but better looking skin with sun protection). it should be noted, also, that in order for SPF to be effective, it must be used alllllllllllll over the facial skin (and neck!) and applied every few hours throughout your day. I use a substantial amount every morning and make sure to coat my face from the corners of my hairline, over my eyelids, my upper lip, all over my cheeks and forehead and chin, over my jawline and covering my neck. this may sound crazy but I honest to goodness have seen an improvement in my skin. I'm not sure what magic Kiehl's has put in this, but I highly HIGHLY recommend you give it a go.
