I had been keeping my dry food in jars collected from various empty foods bought at the store, the only thing is they are not air tight and do not seal well after time. These Kilner Jars are a really thick glass and are easy to disassemble if you need to wash. The rubber and locking clip helps store in the freshness. Well worth the investment.

I haven't used these yet, but they're really nice, and the glass is thick. When I close the lid, the rubber gasket makes a tight seal. I bought them to put homemade dill refrigerator pickles in.
In the end I purchased a total of 24 half litre clip over preserving jars to hot water bath seal sweet pickled cucumbers , chutney and pressure bottled preserved tomatoes from Wilco ,some online and some out of store.14 jars failed to seal at the first attempt, five sealed at the next three or four attempts .Nine jars would not seal under any circumstances. I took two jars back to Wilco and received replacements off the shelf .. the lip of the faulty jars were like the big dipper roller coaster at Blackpool..They being several MM out of a true flat in several places around the ring.Of the remaining jars and the two new ones I set them inverted on a sheet of frosted glass and was disturbed to find that all nine jars had enough gaps for me to insert four ... Your customer service say they are waiting for a batch to come into the warehouseSeveral of my friends also have had problems with kilner jars not sealing correctly .I think I'll be using Weck jars in future even though they are almost double the price of Kilner ones ...at least they work first time round because of the attention to quality control.Wilko will you please start stocking Weck preserving jars lids and seals as you seem to have a ready market for them ?
I have a working pantry. It is easy for me to fill these jars from my bulk storage. 1 L is perfect size for brown sugar, cocoa powder and powdered sugar.
Learning to home preserve jams, pasta sauces ect, Kilner jars are a must. Yes, Kilners can be bought almost anywhere but , Wilko prices are unbeatable. I'm now using clip top's as there so good storing flour ect. keeping everything fresh and dry. I want something that's not only good value but looks good and is simple to recycle. I 've now around thirty different sized clip top jars both in my kitchen for storage and for preserves. They are very good value.
The closing mechanism was bent wrong and out of shape. Had to have my husband get the pliers out to fix it himself. Next time I'll go to a store in person so I can see the mechanism is working properly before I buy it.
