Convenient size for my purposes many are too large. Fairly solid retro design, but poorly finished, with various lines visible on the lid, which presumably result from the manufacturing process. Unfortunately, no permanent plastic liner, so interior metal is left exposed to acids from compost. Alternative is to shell out on plastic bag liners, which would be fussy, expensive, inconvenient and unecological. Still early days, so not sure how interior will stand up to continued exposure to the contents.

Very pleased with this compost caddy. We needed something that wouldnt take up much space, looks nice, is easy to clean, wouldnt rust, and was tough enough to withstand the metal filter from our espresso machine being bashed against it. So far, all criteria are successfully met. The lid traps any smells inside and keeps the flies away.

I ordered this compost bin four months ago. The lid has split on two sides rendering the bin useless. The lid split a number of weeks ago but I have only had a chance to write this review now so it didnt even last 4 months in all honesty.I have contacted the seller and they have just replied stating the item is gone past the 90 day period for returns.Really disappointed with the quality of this bin, I would definitely not ever buy anything from the Kilner brand again.Finally, Id like to echo some other peoples reviews here with regard to the lid not properly fitting the body of the bin. It was an effort to get it on and off.

It certainly serves its purpose, and seems well made and sturdy. The internal scale is accurate and very useful. Two aspects prevent it from getting a 5star rating. 1 Despite the presence of cutouts in the plates where the handle attaches, the handle does not lock into position unlike my previous pan. You can balance the handle in a vertical position, but a small knock can easily dislodge it. 2 The socalled pouring spout is simply infuriating. It is just a messy groove that doesnt even reach to the edge of the pan. It is of no benefit at all, and just makes cleaning more difficult. The rolled edge of the pan makes it pour fairly well anyway without a spout. I Love My New Kilner Jam Pan!

Ive wanted this jam pan for quite a while. When I finally got around to buying it, I found out it had been discontinued, and was out of stock everywhere here in the USA. I was glad I found one and absolutely love it. Its made of heavy gauge stainless steel, has markings in the inside of the pan, so it takes the guess work out of how many jars to prepare. The handle is sturdy and makes carrying the pan a breeze. If you can find this pan, you better buy it. You wont be disappointed!

Kilner 8L S/S Jam Pan

Really good, love the handle & the pouring lip...I've been making jams, pickles & chutneys for 35 years & never had such consistent results. I also have the Jam Jar Tongs which have saved many splash burns.Thoroughly recommend both products.Thoroughly recommend.

I am still useless at making jam. Not the fault of the thermometer though, which is robust and easy to use. However, clip could work better to keep it off bottom of pot and in the jam mixture. I have no idea as to how the lid lifter is meant to be usefully employed, I find a pair of oven gloves and lifting lid by the handle is usually sufficient.

Kilner preserving pan and packaging

Quick delivery. The packaging looked like polystyrene and my heart sank, but the enclosed leaflet said not to worry it was made from vegetable starch and would disintegrate in water and so it did. We have sprinkled it onto out flower bed and it has disappeared in the rain. I showed a group of Friends of The earth and they were equally fascinated. Well done Harts hopefully all packaging will follow suit. Plus the pan will last for several lifetimes.

Excellent quality, stainless steel pan. Good size, and has a "help handle" which is definitely needed for lifting a heavy quantity, particularly for the not so strong in their declining years! Resulting marmalade made day after receipt of pan? Mmmm! Easy to clean. Pan will be well used this coming summer and autumn.
