As someone who has always ready books I was worried about switching to an e-reader, missing the feeling of holding a book and turning the pages and reading from pages (not a screen). But I find this switch surprisingly not so difficult. Visually it's easy to read, the screen doesn't feel like a phone/tablet screen, more matte and plain. The yellow sepia back light is easy on the eyes and gives it the feeling of reading from a book. The only difficulty I find is, have to be careful to not press on the screen or the book will jump one or several pages forward or backward. I have little hands, and find it takes some getting used to holding it with one hand (easier with two hands), even though it is small/compact. It's nice to read in the dark, the lighting is perfect to not disturb my Mann. I like that it's water repellant, in case one of my kids spills something on it. After years convincing myself, that I like the feel of a 'real' book, I purchased this GREAT Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. This product delivers in a big way, and all the descriptions about it's readability really are true. It can be read in the dark, or in bright sunlight. It really does look like looking at real paper! It is about the size of an average paperback, so feels that you are looking at a real book. This version has more LEDs than some, which I'm sure are worth the extra money. Though, I have seen some lesser models, and they also look good, too. Of course, you have the added benefit of storage, literally thousands of books can be held on it. Light and compact, for reading on the go, could you imagine carrying more than a few books...anywhere? As a result, I've noticed a few scratches on the screen. For the most part they are almost unoticeable except in certain lighting. I especially notice these scratches when reading in direct sunlight, the sunlight causes small shadows from the scratches onto the words on the screen and they can be distracting. I've heard the Kindle Oasis screen is made of a stronger glass that is more resistant to scratches so I hope they update all newer kindles models as such. The Kindle Paperwhite is great for reading outside in the sun (there's no glare!) and so convenient to read in a dark bedroom before bed. However, I've noticed that any indoor overhead lighting causes a bright glare on the screen. This glare is a bright circle of light that blocks words and makes it hard to read unless you move the screen around to avoid the glare.' Overall I do love my kindle, it's pricy for something that is easily scratched so I recommend buying one during Amazon's annual sale. And make sure to get a screen protector or a protective case!
