The Paperwhite eReader (10th Gen) is much smaller and lighter than the much-used Kindle it replaces. This version is much more portable, and I look forward to being able to take it outdoors and on the train. The downside is that one is turning the page much more frequently. A highlight is the very clear interface whose brightness is adjustable. There are many features built into the system and the battery life is greatly superior to my superceded Kindle. The absence of a coherent and easy-to-follow manual is another downside. There is an e-manual available online; however, it is poorly written by someone who does not understand what it is like to know next-to-nothing about their new product. Overall, I am very happy with the Paperwhite.

Great headset, recommend it for everyone. Like the noise canceling most of all. I have never tried a Bose item before, thought they were too high priced for what you receive. Was a wrong. Even bought another Bose QuietComfort 35 Series II Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones Rose Gold for the wife. She lives in it !! Really like the Triple Midnight blue limited edition look. Better than black..

This kindle is smaller than the one that I had years ago but the size is more convenient and just right to stick in a back pack side pocket or purse. Its smaller than the iPad mini. However, this could be an issue if you have bigger hands or farsighted but the font can be adjusted to accommodate the size of words. Love the night light for reading in the dark. The actual color is more of a mauve or dusty pink than plum. So far the battery life is decent, I have never really let the battery get below 75% before recharging. Not good at all for searching the internet, the response time is really slow and froze several times. Every thing is in black and white, unlike the previous version that I had which featured the book cover and other items in color so that is a ... MoreThis kindle is smaller than the one that I had years ago but the size is more convenient and just right to stick in a back pack side pocket or purse. First Kindle - No Regrets
28 December 2021

Bought used to see if I'd like it, fell in love with it over vacation to Puerto Rico. Screen is far more responsive than I thought it would be, and the e-ink display is remarkably crisp and loads quickly. Even manga looks good, though a low-quality PDF can be too dark or grainy. Transferring files is easy and fast via cable, but WiFi downloads take a little time. Not a deal-breaker for me just FYI if you have slower connection speed. Overall a very good product, one that I would buy brand new once this one dies.

Great Kindle but I hate Amazon!
24 November 2021

I bought this as I wanted to see what the new touch-screen, back-lit Kindles were like. I've had a Kindle 4 (with buttons) for many, many years and love it. Although this Paperwhite is a very nice machine, and I do like it, Amazon have really messed it up! On my other Kindle I've always used Calibre to look after my ebook collection, creating book collections and series which get transferred to the Kindle 4 making it easy to negotiate my large library. Amazon, in their infinite wisdom, have locked down the Paperwhite so that the Collections plugin in Calibre can no longer create them on the Paperwhite! The Paperwhite just shows pages and pages of book covers making it difficult to find the one you want. Great kindle paperwhite

This is first e reader I have purchased and I am happy about it. Bought it for $169 but was on sale during Christmas for $149. 6 inch screen is backlit and it's pretty good, I mostly read at night so brightness can be dimmed to a comfortable level. The only issue is that it doesn't have sepia mode which is only available in kindle oasis which is a bit expensive. Dictionary is always available which is great, all you need is to do is press on a particular word for couple seconds and it will show the meaning which is amazing. Battery life is awesome. Books can be downloaded and transferred to kindle via pc so that's handy. I would easily recommend this to everyone but if you really are a keen reader, I would go for oasis just for the sepia 7 inch screen. Have fun :) ... MoreThis is first e reader I have purchased and I am happy about it. I'm Very Happy With My 10th Gen/8GB Paperwhite!
30 June 2022

It's small but I'm getting used to it and it's easy to hold. (I still lick my finger when I go to turn the page). I had to buy a cover for it separately. Also the charging on my computer takes forever so I used the power adapter for my cell phone so I could charge directly from the wall outlet instead of the computer and I get a faster charge. I'm happy with it. I am book junkie and this works for me. With kindle unlimited I'll never run out of something to read. The longer you read each day the more you will have to recharge, but for stop and go readers it lasts a long time. Get a cover so you don't bang it up or scratch up the screen like a cellphone. If I ever get another, I might like a little larger screen so I wouldn't have to turn the page so often. (Lot's of ... MoreIt's small but I'm getting used to it and it's easy to hold. All in all this is a basic paperwhite, easy to hold, exactly as pictured. I'm very happy with it!

Not the size I wanted
11 August 2021

There were no kindles on display when I got to Best Buy. Stood around waiting for someone to help me for about 15 mins. Wanted to get the 32 gb kindle which their computer showed 1 in stock but the girl couldn’t locate it. So I ended up getting the 8 gb. After downloading 1 book onto the kindle the available spaces showed only 5.81 gb left. The description said can hold thousands of titles. Not to impressed with this.Set was easy and downloading the first book went easier then I expected. I’m enjoying it so far.

Smoothest Kindle yet
20 December 2018

This is my fourth kindle, a replacement for one that went missing. I had been using a second hand basic model Kindle, and thought I might upgrade to one of the Paperwhite models. It is both a tremendous improvement over the basic model, and also significantly better than my last Paperwhite. The screen resolution is a big improvement, and it runs very smoothly. Page turns are easy and hassle free. The weight is good and the texture of the case pleasant to hold. There are some minor changes to the homescreen that have taken a little adjusting to. Also, the battery seems to drain a touch faster than expected, though overall the battery life is still fine, lasting two to three weeks (I am a fairly heavy reader). As a final criticism, the "on" button seems a little ... MoreThis is my fourth kindle, a replacement for one that went missing. As a final criticism, the "on" button seems a little sensitive. It turns on in my bag quite often, sometimes losing my place in what I'm reading. While there are models with 3G/4G connectivity and larger hard drives, these features come at a significantly higher price. I have had a 3G Kindle previously, and it is really handy to have But with mobile tethering and the availability of wifi, the price is far to high. The extra storage space might be useful for people who enjoy audio books. Personally I don't use them.Overall, I am really happy with it and hope I don't lose it any time soon!
