Kingston 64GB IronKey Vault Privacy 50 USB Flash Drive [IKVP50/64GB]

Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 series are premium USB drives that provide business-grade security with FIPS 197 certified AES 256-bit hardware encryption in XTS mode, including safeguards against BadUSB with digitally-signed firmware and Brute Force password attacks. VP50 series is also TAA compliant. Because it is encrypted storage under the user's physical control, the VP50 series is superior to using the internet and Cloud services to safeguard data. Vault Privacy 50 supports a multi-password (Admin, User and One-Time Recovery) option with Complex or Passphrase modes. This enhances the ability to recover access to the data if one of the passwords is forgotten. Traditional Complex mode allows for a password from 6-16 characters using 3 out of 4 character sets. New passphrase mode allows for a numeric PIN, sentence, list of words or even lyrics from 10 to 64 characters long. Admin can enable a User and a One-Time Recovery password or reset the User password to restore data access. To aid in password entry, the eye symbol can be enabled to reveal the typed-in password, reducing typos leading to failed login attempts. Brute Force attack protection locks out User or One-Time Recovery passwords upon 10 invalid passwords entered in a row and crypto-erases the drive if the Admin password is entered incorrectly 10 times in a row.

This is my favorite flash drive I've gotten. I normally just get the normal cheaper ones that do the generic everyday things. This one is completely secure and I can put all of my personal information into one area. It's a nice secure flash drive and it's amazing all you can store on it. I'll definitely be using this flash drive going forward!

Great USB memory

Very easy setup with multiple password options. You can either setup Complex or Passphrase passwords and also get admin options. Be sure to think about this on initial setup or you may have to reset it if you decide to change later. Still very simple and not a big deal. If you have a need to travel with sensitive data regularly than investing in this type of drive is recommended. If you happen to lose it and someone tries to get to the data, it will erase the drive after 10 failed attempts. It has a number of security features like protection against brute force attacks and virtual keyboard to protect against key loggers. Most importantly it has business grade certified AES 256-bit hardware encryption. Overall quality is on the upper end and when holding the device, it feels very solid. So, no worries about travelling with it and you end up dropping it, stepping on it, etc. Kingston has been around for years and is known for its quality.

Pretty cool

Works as described. I plan on using it to store my passwords and then I have them in a safe place. There is a instructional pdf on usb when you first open the drive. And there was nothing complicated, just open the app up to setup a password and password hint. Can also add a user password in case you forget your password. It is 8gb, plenty of room for my needs.

Pretty good basic encryption setup
30 August 2022

This seems to be a basic 8G USB key that has software on it that first creates an encrypted volume and then manages mounting for you. The included software was user friendly. The documentation did a good job of walking you through setting up your encrypted volume. If you need to keep some files password protected this would be a decent solution for some basic file encryption security.

Safre storage option
28 August 2022

I was looking for a drive to keep our tax information on, especially since our taxes involve more documentation than the average household. I will say that this seems a whole lot more complex than I was envisioning, especially once I saw the 34-page user guide. It was a bit daunting. It seems like there are 3 passwords total that can be used, one being a recovery password. It sounds like if I use the recovery password, it allows me to reset the main password. I have not purposely tried that method though. I do appreciate the option to have multiple passwords, just in case though. I am a little nervous that I will forget a password and get locked out, but I guess that is the risk I'm taking by having a password protected device.

Read only option is a great feature as it ensures that only those approved can alter data when needed. Data transfer is reliable and fast, again as expected from KingstonPersonally in the world of working from home, I think this is a wonderful product as it really does give you the piece of mind that the data stored is safe and secure whilst travelling and if you loose it, there is no way for others to access it.This is a product that I thoroughly recommend to others not just to small and medium businesses, but for personal use to allow users to protect their own personal data/files.

I always find USB drives to be the best option for quick installs on a laptop. I work in IT so flash drives are used quite often. I found this to be a good brand and very useful for my job. Kingston has always been a reliable brand so this was the right choice. Plenty of things can be stored on this drive, whether is pictures for personal use, or software for work.
