A real whizz in the kitchen

Purchased this a few weeks ago to replace another brand which literally fell apart within 18 months and to match my KitchenAid mixer. So pleased I did as it includes all the accessories I'll ever need. Although part of the base is metal, it is reasonably light, so can be moved around easily. The base unit has rubber feet, so it will not damage your counter top.And it is so easy to store as all the accessories fit in a caddy which stores in the processing bowl. A particularly good feature is the way the bowl fits onto the base - a simple click so no more twisting and turning to try and get the bowl in place. Similarly with the lid which also clicks onto the bowl. It comes with a leak-proof lid, so you can give a dirty bowl a quick blitz with warm soapy water to clean ... MorePurchased this a few weeks ago to replace another brand which literally fell apart within 18 months and to match my KitchenAid mixer. Similarly with the lid which also clicks onto the bowl. It comes with a leak-proof lid, so you can give a dirty bowl a quick blitz with warm soapy water to clean it. The bowl and all accessories are dishwasher safe as well. 2 speeds and a pulse button is all you'll ever need to make quick work of all those tedious mixing, cutting and chopping jobs in the kitchen.Whilst it has only 2 main disks (coarse and fine shredding and slicing) the ingenious thickness lever on the lid means you can slice up to 7 thicknesses and it works very well. The dicing kit with its clean-out tool is also very handy and again works very well with firm fruit and vegetables with clean-out tool making quick work of any food left behind on the disk. Because the lid opens easily - no need to unscrew it - it's easy to scrape down the sides of the bowl if needed. As this processor is so easy to use and has a large bowl, I'm using it much more than my previous one. I've also found that nuts and vegetables came out uniformly chopped and did not turn to powder or mush. The unit is quit high, so although you can probably store it on the kitchen bench, but you'll need to store the base and bowl separately in the cupboard. As with all kitchen equipment there are a few nooks and crannies likely to collect food scraps (eg. underside of the disks and around the blades), so it pays to be vigilant, especially if hand washing the items. This was an excellent choice for me, given its clever design, ease of use and good looks. Once again KitchenAid has come up trumps!

Bought this about a month ago, and really enjoying using it. It's a huge step up from my old processor, which was a behemoth of a machine with accessory storage that took up an entire kitchen drawer by itself. This is compact, and powerful enough for MOST of what I want to do with it. I only have a couple of gripes. Firstly, dicing. The dice is large and isn't capable of producing a dice small enough for anything like a sofrito, so I'm still having to dice by hand for a lot of recipes. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, carrots and harder veg tend to get stuck on the top of the dicer, so while most goes through, a lot doesn't. Cue more hand dicing of the stuck bits. The other things would be being able to get a whisk attachment for it like in the 9 cup version. ... MoreBought this about a month ago, and really enjoying using it. If I can get a whish attachment in the future like in the 9 cup, I'll be a happy man! (Hint hint)

Brilliant design but not perfect
26 March 2022

I've always had a Cuisinart food processor, but recently got fed up when oil came shooting out of the bowl when I was trying to make toum. I was casually looking to replace it and came across this model. This thing is so well-designed that all the parts/attachments fit inside the bowl for storage. Because of this, the footprint is similar (despite an extra cup of bowl capacity), but I can get rid of the basket I bought to hold accessories for the old machine. Great news since I have limited storage space! But what sold it was the lid, which hinges up, and latches in the closed position. I was in love! The first thing I noticed is that it's lighter than my Cuisinart. Good, right? Yes, and no. The attachments seem very flimsy in comparison, and when the machine is running, I have the urge to hold it in place by the lid like I do my blender. So far I've made hummus and pizza dough, and the machine did well with both. I was kind of surprised when there was flour left in the bowl once the dough formed a ball, but it ended up not being a big deal, because I incorporated the flour during kneading.I haven't used any of the slicing or shredding attachments, but I love that you can adjust the thickness of the slices.

DON'T BUY! Cheap lid, guaranteed to break
27 May 2023

I've owned this food processor less than a year. This would be my THIRD warranty claim if KA hadn't sent me an extra new food processor by mistake the second time, which I kept because I knew I wasn't out of the woods. (Their supply chain is so screwed up they can't send individual parts, only entire units.)The problem is the processor lid. It is made of the cheapest plastic possible, and the design guarantees that the lid hinge and the opposing lid latch will quickly break from the inevitable vicissitudes of day to day use. This has happened to me now three times. In less than a year.In the case of the hinge, the lid's own mass eventually breaks the hinge pin, which can't withstand the torque when the lid is stood vertically; for its part the poor design of the flimsy lid latch makes it risky to even place the lid on the counter, lest the downward-protruding latch take the brunt of the lid's weight. It broke today because it couldn't withstand the upward pressure on the lid of grating provolone cheese. Yes, it's really that cheap.I own two other Kitchen-Aid products, a stand mixer and a mixing wand. They are fine. I formerly owned a durable 15-year-old KA food processor that took everything I threw at it without complaint, until the bowl finally cracked and couldn't be replaced. I would love to have my old food processor back, cracked bowl and all, rather than be saddled with this piece of garbage.

Great Gadget, Terrible Lid - Disappointed
25 August 2023

I want to start by saying that I truly enjoyed using this food processor, particularly the dicing tool, which I found incredibly handy. However, there's one major concern that I've had since the moment I unboxed it, and it revolves around the lid's construction. Regrettably, it feels quite fragile, and my fears were confirmed when the locking clip eventually broke. This unfortunate development has made it challenging to operate the machine, as I now have to manually hold the lid closed for it to function properly. What's even more disheartening is my attempt to find a replacement lid on the official KitchenAid website. To my disappointment, it's not even offered for purchase. This situation leaves me with the impression that I might need to invest in an entirely new machine, which is something I'd rather avoid.I genuinely appreciate KitchenAid products and have been a loyal customer for some time. However, the prospect of purchasing a whole new machine just because of a seemingly flimsy lid doesn't align with my expectations. I believe in the quality of KitchenAid, but this experience has led me to consider exploring other options until the lid becomes more durable.

Great replacement for an old workhorse

We had an old processor that had been given to us for our wedding 20 years ago. However, I also noted that this was now the standard. The best bit about it is that it looks very sexy!Good price too. Right in the sweet spot for us.The only thing to check now is longevity...

Love the compact storage!
28 April 2023

I bought this to replace my very old Kitchen Aide food processor. It still worked great, but the work bowl was literally crumbling and I figured it was a good time to upgrade. I love all the different options and how everything stores so neatly inside. It's wonderful at shredding cheese, even better than my old one. And I love how the shred blade is reversible so you can do thicker or thinner shred depending on what you'd like. The only thing I'm slightly disappointed in is the dicing feature. I have pretty bad arthritis in my hands and it's difficult for me to dice a lot of things. It does great dicing meats and cheeses, but softer items like onions and tomatoes just get turned into mush with the dicer.

I then dice celery and more onion to mix into tuna for tunafish sandwiches. I have not tried potatoes or apples yet. I'm not supposed to eat potatoes because of my diet and good apples aren't in season right now.

Very disappointed!

Purchased the 13 cup Processor so that I am able to grate carrots on a daily bases to feed my chickens! Also like to make beetroot relish after we harvest... So far the processor has had 22 uses and the plastic is completely stained :( Plastic bowl is very flimsy and easily breakable! If you grate the carrots the end bits are not able to go through the process and jams around the top cover insert leaving you with big chunks. Cleaning process is really bad as you are faced with so many little edges and corners, and a lot of parts which need cleaning! The stainless steel cutting discs also have started to stain and are impossible to clean... Also if you are trying to make something heavy with flower etc the motor struggles and starts to smell like it would burn out ... MorePurchased the 13 cup Processor so that I am able to grate carrots on a daily bases to feed my chickens! Overall this processor is really a bad design and since it is fully made of plastic don't expect it to last past it's warranty :( Sad to see KitchenAid go to this level and as a long time user of this brand I will now stay clear in the future :0(
