Thought I was purchasing "state of the art" quality product. Horrified to find bits of coating on dough hook flaking off into the mixture. no way I can use it again which severely limits my recipe options for what I like to use my kitchen aid for. I have read reviews on your website with regard to this problem so it's obviously a design fault. In the interest of good faith I am requesting a free of charge replacement stainless steel dough hook. Thank you in anticipation. Janice

I bought this to replace the original enamel one which had started to peel and flake and it’s definitely a better quality one and very solid. Item arrived quickly and well packaged. Worth the price.

Heavier than expected, but it is indeed made of steel. In my opinion, it looks slightly smaller than the original hook that comes with the Artisan machine, but it does the job that it’s required to do. Easier to clean and most of all it doesn’t chip like the original one. I’m very happy

This should come standard as the stainless steel is so much better than the inferior coated aluminium. It is a pleasure to use due to the weight and the fact they can go in the dishwasher. I make bread every second day so it gets a workout. I’ve now ordered the stainless whisk as well.
For such a quality and expensive item it would seem appropriate to have a stainless steel dough hook as part of the accessories with purchase. A poor quality alloy dough hook is no match for the lovely weight SS replacement I have just purchased from Kitchen Aid. However if it had been the lovely weight SS one I have just purchased, my machine may have been damaged. I confess here so as to warn others. I used to store my attachments in the bowl until wiping down the appliance I knocked the On switch forward (as I had not turned off the power). Despite only a moment in action the alloy dough hook supplied with the appliance, broke. I love my Kitchen Aid mixer. It is my favourite and most used appliance.
Great dough hook. Nice and heavy. Pity the original needed replacing but like other Kitchenaid owners my original dough-hook started shedding the white coating and it became an issue. I have been applying tape to it to keep bits falling off. Not ideal.
I bought it sometime back but haven’t been able to us it yet. My enamel hook started chipping and hence decided to buy the stainless steel hook. I wish kitchen aid would give you an option to swap or change these ones from enamel coated to stainless steel.
The stainless steel accessories are must have items. They're got a very solid build and quality, are better weighted and the coating doesn't peel off like the other accessories. The dough hook is a no brainer accessory in the kitchen!
I am super impressed with this stainless steel dough hook. I bought it because I previously had 2 dough hooks, the external coating of which had peeled off in pieces! This is so annoying and I gather a problem with the standard dough hooks. The stainless steel dough hook is strong and functional. I bought it online and delivery was free - and fast! Very happy.
I always bake bread using the kitchen aid. The enamel dough hook seemed to develop small chips. It bothered me that we were eating them. The stainless hook seemed the answer. I find that being so heavy it kneads really effectively particularly large amounts so it’s purchase has been a real bonus.
