I disappointed in this item. When received it was difficult to insert the beaters. Upon my first use I was unable to insert the collarless beater and make it stay in. I was able to use it despite this beater being loose. I do not like the bright light that shines in your eyes. The eject button was difficult to press in. I am keeping it because I discarded the packing materials and receipt upon finding that it could turn on. Also, I am very concerned about the California warning about cancer and do not understand the reason for this warning and do not know if it was safe to discount it. (The food processor also had a similar warning.) With this hand mixer you can virtually do anything. I love the dough hooks for making bread or my pizza dough and also to shred up meat when I cook it for pulled pork sandwiches. It comes with a variety of single or double, stainless-steel whisks designed for liquids, to doughs and items in between.The speed is digitally controlled so it always starts the mixer on the lowest setting. This solves a problem with my older hand mixer where it could be left on a high setting and it just splashes still mixtures out of the bowl.The flexibility of a hand mixer is great, you can mix in almost any container. This is a brand new hand mixer, so I am not sure why some of the reviews are about older mixers! That said, I have never owned a Kitchenaid mixer that I didn’t like. I was glad that I chose the Empire Red instead of Candy Apple Red! It came with a storing bag for accessories, it's very thoughtful! However, 2 things which I don't like are as follows:1. I'm right handed, while I'm using it and when I need to turn the speed up or down, it was NOT convenient for me to do that at all. I have to use my left hand to hold the body of the machine and turn it. Then, at that time my egg or flour were flying everywhere.2. The speed is NOT as strong as I expected, even I turned to #9. When I need to whip the Heavy Cream to stiff peak, it won't give me that. Same thing with the Egg Whites. Just received this in red, it's petite and lightweight,and it's efficient! Attachments are fragile so you might order an extra set of the flex edge beaters. Make sure to insert the "collared" attachments into the correct slot which is "B" (slot on the right) on the mixer head; Non-collared attachments can lock into either slot! Love the Soft Start feature. This mixer will be a great companion to your standing "heavy duty" mixer during the holidays. It's easily accessible, fast and efficient for mashed potatoes, whipped cream and sauces and those quick "on-the go" mixing jobs, and it's easy to store.
