I used this at my daughter's when visiting. I found it great for pouring batter out of the bowl without spills. It protected my batter from making a mess when using the mixer.

Compared to full sized models, this attachment is ineffective without the cross bar design. The dough/batter in the center of the bowl just stays put and does not get mixed in without running the mixer while holding the head slightly up or stopping the mixer and scraping down the sides and manually agitating the mixture. Completely defeats the point of a stand mixer if I need to do that much extra work! My hand mixer works more effective for most things

I received this as a gift for my kitchen aid mixer and the fit is horrible. It doesn’t fit the bowl properly. It make more mess using it than without. It doesn’t seal around the bowl so dry powders fall through the gap . It’s made of flimsy plastic. It’s not the quality you would expect from kitchenaid .

I had a 4.5 stand mixer for 30 years but decided to get it cleaned and gifted it to my daughter. I purchased the new 3.5 the same day in Greenville, Ohio. THAT WAS OVER FIVE YEARS AGO and I’ve waited for KitchenAid to bring in some new bowls and accessories all this time! THIS PART IS UNUSABLE!!! When will KitchenAid get their act together and replace this “dough mixer” with something like what they have available for the other models?!?!?
I've been using my kitchen aid for many years. I even started a home bakery business and used this regularly for the many cupcakes I sold at farmers markets. I use it for my children's birthday cakes and nearly all my baking. When I recently learned of the obscene amount of lead in the attachments I felt sick to my stomach. My paddle has a chip in it. Have I contributed to high lead levels in my children and others unknowingly because of the whirlpool/kitchenaid company's callous disregard for health and safety? Upon reading from Leadsafe Mama that the company has known about this for nine years enraged me. This is completely unacceptable. I agree with the other reviewer that it needs the cross pieces to be better. But I don't use my stand mixer because of it, so I don't think this deserves 3 stars.
It doesn't have the cross-beam! The mini Artisan mixer is treated like a step-child. These accessories are lower quality, if they are even available. So disappointed in KitchenAid. You should have never come out with the mini Artisan if it was going to be inferior. You market it as though it is just like the regular sized kitchen Aids, but not if you aren't going to offer the same accessories and accessories of the same quality as the larger mixers.
Sturdy construction, easy to clean finish. With simple care this accessory should last a lifetime.
I bought the Artisan Mini, & this came with it. I felt like something was missing when I used this beater, as well as the flex beater (that I bought extra) with only one flex edge. Just didn't seem to do as well as the 5 qt. mixer I used to have.
I love the 3.5 qt mixer for the size and the lack of space that I have however its nearly useless with this beater. My handheld mixer does a better job than this thing. It needs the cross bar like in the larger mixers to be of any use.
