I have just purchased my benchmixer that came with the pouring shield. Well I love the machine, but the shield seems pointless. As with ALL other reviews, the mixture spits out from the massive gap in the shield. Trying to position it where would spit and create less mess is impossible. It appears that kitchenaid have not listened to the last 5 years of reviews and not changed anything about it in the last five years!!!!! I can buy a cheap and nasty machine and it comes with a fully enclosed splatter guard……NO MESS! Seems very flimsy to me.

Received the KitchenAid as a gift which came with this, the bowl and 3 whisking/stirring attachments.I am not sure why it's included...perhaps to make the package look more appealing and substanial overall however it's very disappointing when opening and seeing the design and quality of this accessory. It's even warped slightly even though it seemed packaged in the box correctly. Not a good start to my KitchenAid experience. It does not sit on right, falling off everytime I have used it, even when I hold it down, which I shouldn't have to do while trying to add indredients etc, it spits out flour under the rim and through the large gap which doesn't shield the machine or myself for about a 1/4 of the stainless steel bowl that was also included in the package.Am ... MoreReceived the KitchenAid as a gift which came with this, the bowl and 3 whisking/stirring attachments.I am not sure why it's included...perhaps to make the package look more appealing and substanial overall however it's very disappointing when opening and seeing the design and quality of this accessory. It makes batter go flying too.I would give a 0 star rating on this if avialable. Looking at the other reviews now, I wouldn't be alone. Very dissapointed.

Bought few weeks ago. Thought it was supposed to fit both bowl sizes. Can't use on small bowl as top of beater hits splash guard. Shame, I really only use smaller bowl. Also realised there was a splash guard in the mixer box, after i ordered 1 separately. Although guard supplied with mixer is poorer quality & only fits large bowl properly as well.

Hugely expensive for a single piece of moulded plastic, which has several manufacturing defects in the plastic. Having paid ÂŁ50 for this as a Christmas gift, I'd expect he quality to match the price tag. Sadly, it doesn't and despite being a functional piece of kit, I feel very let down by the clear lack of care put into the manufacturing process and QA for the price charged by KitchenAid.
I was heartened to find when this arrived to find that this is not as rigid as I expected it would be. The material that it is made from has a fair bit of flex in it which will undoubtedly make it quite durable and way les likely to crack. This will fix one of the very few weaknesses this machine has. First it helps adding ingredients to the bowl while in use, which because of the planetary motion of the beater can be quite hard to do & also it eliminates splashes. So it’s good value for money and something you will use…absolutely worth having.
Bought to stop icing sugar from flying out of the bowl. Shield clips on securely and does a good job. Downsides are that I still have to place a cloth over the top of the machine as, aswell as the open shoot, there is quite a big gap at the back. You have to remove the lid if you want to lift the mixer blade to scrape the bowl mid way through but compared to having icing sugar everywhere it does do a good job. Havent washed it in the dishwasher yet but I believe instructions say this would be OK. Happy to have paid more for the genuine product as lots of reviews say cheaper models distort easily.
I'm so totally in love with my new stand mixer....I've wanted one for years. I use it frequently and leave it out between uses as it not only performs wonderfully but looks great on the counter too.As for the flour shield...wow!Such a contrast in design and quality from the other great KitchenAid products. It should be removed from the catalogue as it really let's the brand down. Flour, batter, everything flies out of the bowl even at lowest speed. My old retired Kenwood had a simple yet superb flour guard which sadly doesnt fit my beautiful new stand mixer.Renaming this useless accessory hasn't helped it's poor functionality. BTW customer support has made contact previously but they can't offer a solution.Love love love my stand mixer.Don't waste your ... MoreI'm so totally in love with my new stand mixer....I've wanted one for years. I don’t love the massive hole at the back of the shield as food still can be flung up through it but that doesn’t happen often if you use a slow setting to combine ingredients first. It has rubber feet to hold it in place on the bowl which is better than plastic on steel but I worry every time I remove it that I will break the shield because the fit is very snug. Time will tell how durable it is but I’m glad I bought it to stop the messy process of having to stop the mixer to add ingredients or spillage trying to add while it’s running.
Seriously so much easier. The pouring section just drops the food in so much easier instead of trying to get it under the head without chopping off your fingers. And no mess. No flour or icing sugar over the walls or over you. Why wasn’t this included with the KitchenAid?
Have been using my KitchenAid Tilt-Head Stand Mixer for over a year now and every single time I want to use the 'shield', I am reminded why I never want to again. Having owned multiple brands of stand mixers, this is truly the worst shield there is and should never be called a shield. It such a shame for such an amazing brand and high-quality stand mixer. It does NOT protect any sort of flour or liquid from flying out of the bowl. A dollar-store tea towel will do the trick a hundred times better than this extremely poorly designed shield. Mine came with the mixer but please save yourself some money and NEVER buy this on its own!!
