While the product itself is excellent, the lack of spare parts is an issue. It is virtually unusable without the plastic hopper but it is easy to damage that plastic part with an accidental drop to kitchen floor tiles. At that point, while trying to access a spare part, you will discover that the plastic hopper costs over $200 and the electronic scales come free with the plastic hopper, as you need to buy the whole assembly to replace a single cracked plastic hopper. Fortunately we were able to use glue after we gave up trying to get any joy from Kitchenaid. We would have paid for a reasonably priced spare part and were not seeking a warranty claim. I absolutely love using the sifter and use it at least once a week when baking cookies….. while it’s sifting away I can get other ingredients ready which is a real time saver! The scales are really accurate and I use them all the time even without the sifter. I am so happy I bought this attachment as it has really added to my enjoyment of baking!

I love this attachment! It is so easy to use! I love how I can just pour flour into it until I get the desired weight, no need for measuring cups! Easy to disassemble & clean. It also makes baking more enjoyable and easy for me as I have an impairment in my arm which makes sifting a difficult task.
At first I wasn’t sure if this was really necessary. The hoper is on the smaller side & holds approximately 400g of flour so you may need to open the bottom shoot to the sieve & weigh out more for larger bakes. This takes about 2 seconds & a flick of the wrist, the trap would be if you forgot to close the bottom shoot off again before weighing more.That said, once I’d fiddled with it for a bit & used it a couple times it’s really convenient & accurate with smaller amounts like adding 2g to 400g.You can’t pour wet ingredients through, however, you sift all your dry ingredients straight into the bowl, unclip the scale, the hoper lid sits straight on the scale base to covert to bench top scale. I hate cooking and anything that makes my life easier is a bonus. This is a bonus. Sifting is one of those tasks that I find boring and annoying. This nifty gadget does all the work for me, no more flour all over my apron. I recommend it to everyone who sifts and measures, it's worth every dollar!
The sifter and capacity are quite small and slow, so when adding the flour to recipes that require minimal stirring/kneading… it could cause it to be over mixed. You could counteract this by pre-sieving the flour and then adding back in.It did however save my arms/shoulders when I had a heap of sifting to do!
I’ve used this a few times now and I’m so happy to have it! It’s very efficient and I’m enjoying not having my hand cramp from a manual sifter. Also being able to use the scales on the bench is quite convenient. It does take a bit to disassemble to clean, but it’s easy enough to do and put back together. I really enjoying using it!
This is the 2nd sifter scale attachment I have had .The first did not survive the first use. Purchased December sales 2019 just before covid happened. The plastic container broke in 2 when it toppled out of the weight attachment on machine I was assembling it for 1st use not sifting anything it wobbled over and was in two on the bench maybe my fault I might not have assembled correctly but I think I did.KitchenAid did replace it Thankyou. Amazing product. The quality of baking in my home has seen a substantial increase since investing in this. The scale and sifter are easy to use and work a treat to get the ingredients in at a steady rate.
