you always have to take in account the wire gauge and a 10 percent variation. sharp bends will add to resistance on any type of cable meter. then there is stray voltage signals from electricity. so add 10 percent both directions and you will be closer than you imagine. Another idea is skip this meter all together and use OHMS law with a standard meter only if the cable is at a complete short circuit between conductors.

Very complicated to use and feel as though you need to be an expert in this field to use. There’s no information about limits (other than length) and the first item I tried to measure wouldn’t work. I reached out to tech support and they say, “This it’s too large a diameter, and doesn’t work well on power cable”. Well you should probably ensure that’s readily available information.

But this product requires I first put an RJ45 (8P8C) plug on the cable (and this requirement is not made clear enough in any of the product description).The whole reason for this product is to save time, and to have to put a connector on a cable I'm about to install (so have to then cut off the connector) is ridiculous. Even if I connect the box of cable with a tiny connection with less than 1/2" of disruption to the twisted pair (which would be acceptable for a real termination) this device still reports the length as zero. The device should have been designed to ignore the first three feet of cable and look only for opens and shorts farther than that. Klein tool designs should be tested by people that actually use them in the field and this clearly was not.Also,- There should also be a "favourites" in the cable library, having to scroll through pages, trying to remember what six-character abbreviation is the type of cable needed is also unacceptable, as is the tiny font.- The date format should be selectable, that is very closed-minded to think that everyone wants to use mm/dd/yyyy format.- The splash screen should not display so long on start-up, I should not have to waste time looking at this every time I turn this on.And what's with the big scary warning about removing 1 foot from the displayed length to account for the length of the test leads. The VoP and other errors are so much more than one foot that this is just useless clutter on the display.This terrible design was not the fault of the distributor I bought this from so I don't want to make this his problem by returning it. Klein tools, you let us down.

I have one and I like it ok I'm still trying to figure it out
don't know how it works they have for ensample southwire 16/2 and is doesn't give you the right length
