Very Disappointed - I bought this in Sept 2022 , the very FIRST time I used it to hold the head of a stripped screw the plier's jaws chipped in 3 places. It looks like the metal is to soft and not hardened. So I started a warranty claim process and they want me to pay for the shipping of the plier so it can be 'inspected'. Way to stand behind the quality of your products Knipex. This is the very last time I will spend good money for such a clearly inferior product. Buyer Beware.

First off, I hate gimmicky tools. I want a tool for every job and I want it to do that job perfectly, not a do it all but badly kind of thing. For that reason, I'm not a big fan of normal adjustable wrenches (nut rounders) but they do have their place. I had never seen this type of wrench until I stumbled across these online. At first I thought they were a variation of waterpump pliers (channel locks). That is not the case, these do the same job as an adjustable wrench and in most situations do it better. All in all, these are a surprisingly useful tool and in my opinion, are suitable for professional use day in and day out.

German tools can be a distinct pleasure to own and use, and I what few non-American tools I have are either German (NWS, Wera) or Spanish (Irega, Grip-On). But this was my first Knipex product, and it has not disappointed. I'd always heard good things about Knipex's pliers wrench, and it has certainly lived up to the hype. It took me a little time to get used to the button adjustment method, but once I did, it were a breeze to use. If you're not sure how you would use the pliers wrench, maybe you don't need it, but it can serve as both adjustable wrench and locking pliers. Cons? I would say it was expensive, but the machining, fit, and finish are fantastic, the overall build quality is *chef's kiss*, and I expect it'll far outlive me. The handle is extremely comfortable, although someone who doesn't use them all day and wants the most precise "feel" for the task might like the regular grip instead of the comfort one. Anyway, this has been so good that I'm basically just looking for an excuse to buy the Knipex Cobras, which have a similar reputation. Note that this is not a paid review, free product trial, or otherwise compensated review.

I only just discovered Knipex pliers. I was tipped off to them be a friend who you may know from Junkyard Wars under the name of Dr. Crash. So where to start? If you look quickly at these, you may think "Eh, just another fancy pair of channel-lock pliers." But you'd be wrong. On a closer examination, you might conclude that they are the bastard offspring of a pair of Channel Locks and a Crescent adjustable wrench. And now you're on the right track. What you haven't got yet is that they are better than either. They combine the fast grip-range adjustment and easy repositioning of Channel Locks with the true parallel jaws of a Crescent wrench, but they grip tighter than either one, and won't slip when under load because they grip seven times tighter than you can with a ... MoreI only just discovered Knipex pliers. It's like having a fast-adjusting, semi-ratcheting crescent wrench. I can already see this tool is highly likely to replace the crescent wrench in my toolbox 90% of the time. You might want to consider putting one in yours.

I really like Knipex. I don't think anyone else makes a product just like this...these are unique. So what is it? This is not some channellock type tool. Channellock pliers change the angle of the pliers as you adjust them. Channellocks have aggressive teeth that dig into a fastener and damage them. These pliers keep the gripping surface parallel to each other at all times. You press the little button to slide the adjuster open or closed. Another things is that when using channellock type pliers, you have to squeeze the handles together. You only need to put pressure on the top handle. There is no squeezing involved. I used this to remove an O2 sensor when the actual O2 sensor socket wasn't able to get it to budge. Don't tell Knipex but you can put a pipe on the top ... MoreI really like Knipex. (do this at your own risk I guess) These are not a cresent type wrench either but it is a great replacement for a cresent wrench. (it is much closer to being a better version of a cresent wrench that it is to being a channel lock type plier) I don't think I will be using a cresent wrench ever again. Both cresent wrenches and channellocks type pliers tend to round off bolts and nuts. Cresent wrenches don't stay tight. These tend to work much much better than either one of those. The design is really cool too. I'm not sure about the comfort grip to be honest. It is nice but now this doesn't match my other Knipex tools. They sell one with the normal Knipex red handles. If I were doing it again, I probably would get that one. It is still a 5 star product in my mind though.

These are the only parallel smooth joint pliers available. They are great for sheet metal work, reskinning auto doors, and are wide enough to grab large nuts with out chewing the surface of the nut up. They are great for aluminum or other soft metal fittings. These are my "go to" pliers.

These have become my favorite adjustable wrench. Small enough to get in everywhere a traditional crescent can, but because you can squeeze it with leverage you are MUCH less prone to round off your nut/bolt heads. With a crescent, you adjust it, and then start pulling and once you start torquing you have no feel for it until you get that dreaded "jump" and you round off the flats of your bolt. We've all done it and know all too well that feeling in your stomach when you wonder if this nut/bolt is going to become a monster because you just ruined it. With this design, you squeeze as you torque so you can feel just how much tension you are applying and it's always in flush contact with the flats. I haven't tested it, but I'm pretty sure I can put a whole lot more torque on a bolt with this and cause zero damage than I could ever achieve with the best crescent wrench. Because the jaws stay parallel when you squeeze, I find myself using them as smooth jaw pliers for fine work. I can get a lot more leverage and squeeze harder than I can with a smooth jaw needle nose or duckbill pliers and these will squeeze flat. The adjustment is unique, just press the button and slide...works so well you find yourself picking them up just to fidget with them. Only downside is yes...they are expensive. Yowsa! But they are a REALLY nice tool.

This is the single nicest feeling tool I've ever held in my hands. If you think this is a high price for "a pliers" than you don't understand all this tool is able to accomplish. Unless you have a specific need for wrenches using a breaker bar, this one tool can replace an entire set of metric & SAE wrenches, a Crescent wrench, and regular pliers with teeth. That's about 20 lbs of tools that you don't need to lug around if you're mobile and no more Cresent thumb screws that never want to stay locked in position to deal with ever again, which imho is worth the price of admission. Really if you think about $50 isn't really that bad for something that covers that much ground. Really if you think about $50 isn't really that bad for something that covers that much ground. A few companies tried to make the same kind of tool but only Knipex really nailed the design, plus being new to Knipex the comfort grip handles are the most comfortable of any tool I've ever held and I've worked in construction, computer repair, warehouses, and even Lowe's in the tool department where I used to just grab tools just to see how they feel in the hand. This one tool beats the comfort of anything I've ever held in my life, and the finish on it is amazing as well (It looks like a Ducati or something to the effect) For the $50 bucks spent I'd say it's a steel because it will quickly become your single favorite tool. I didn't know about these until about a month ago all though they've been out for years and when I finally realized what it was all about I kindda felt like this was the greatest thing I never knew existed and now owning one it's everything I hoped it would be, there is nothing gimmicky about the way this thing operates. The clamp force is incredible and the comfort grip is soooo sweet. .knipex should really have gotten an award for this design (maybe they did ????) I purchased the 7" for my first one and I'm happy about my choice, the mouth goes very wide for its size (more than I expected) and I believe it will be the best all around size to still be able to get in tight spaces. Hopefully a 10" is in my near future for those times a need the little extra reach or when I need to clamp 2 nuts at a time. If you're like me and just found this tool or have been thinking about getting one, just do it already you won't be disappointed..it's probably going to become your favorite tool. Oh and don't over look the fact that this is like a 61 HRC either, you won't find many hand tools with that kind of hardness level so your not going to ding this thing up very easily either.

This was my first set of knipex and I have heard nothing but good things about these. I have countless Channellock pliers in various shapes and sizes. I have never been unhappy, but since I needed a small pair for a compact tool kit I figured I would give Knipex a try. There is no question that the design and the parallel jaws are great, but the fit and finish on the copy I got left me wanting my money back. I have bought tools from Harbor Freight that looked better. They are supposed to be forged, but they look cast.
