This review comes after nearly a full year using this product as both a couch and a bed.The couch itself is on the firmer side, but it's still quite comfortable and if you have pillows you can absolutely fall asleep laying down. We cannot recommend this sofa bed to anyone who intends to use it as a sofa. The seat has a slight forward tilt even under ideal conditions (see pictures), which is uncomfortable. When people sit on the sofa, the tilt becomes worse and worse as the sofa bed slides apart, losing its shape and making comfort even worse as you gradually slide forward onto thefloor. Every hour or so, the sofa needs to be reset to its original position to provide more comfortable seating, but it is never 100% comfortable as the forward tilt persists and worsens if anybody issitting on the couch even for a moment. Relaxed and modern design, overall great quality. Functional design with the storage (I have the bigger sofa). I'm thankful to have been able to get a larger sofa bed into my small NYC studio, most others wouldn't have fit through the door frame. This comes in 5 boxes with easy setup (I also got the ottoman). I haven't had any problem with seat tilt. The seating is on the firmer side (definitely not cloud). The bed part is also firm but comfy (much better than blow up mattresses and such). Plus it's half the price of a West Elm or similar. Customer service was superb...they were able to change my delivery date when a work trip meant I wouldn't be home!

I've had the sofa a few weeks now. I ummed and ahhed about it and the other sofas but chose this one. It was very easy to put together and I like the compact folding nature of it (no sprung sofa mattress and finger traps like the one my parents had in the 90's). I have not slept on it yet however it creates a comfortable pad to play on with the kids and felt nice to sleep on. It is comfortable to sit on - I did read some reviews about it sloping towards the front but have not had the issue myself. The only thing is I wish I had bought the Ottoman so I can lie my legs on it when watching TV. I'm 1.8m and can lie on it comfortably. I have added some cushions for the corners.

I am normally a side sleeper, but to sleep on your side on this one, I needed two pillows (I normally sleep with one memory foam pillow) to feel comfortable. My wife found this mattress very, very firm from night one and never liked it. We persisted for nearly 3 weeks with it. I found it became better with more nights sleep, but you are not going to ever change your opinion on this because of the following reason. It folds onto the floor. A typical 'click clack' sofa bed has slats which offer some flexibility, but the downside is overtime they wear and eventually weaken and you will lose the original support. This mattress has the 'floor' as its support so, if you are not a fan of firm mattresses look elsewhere. My in-laws tried this mattress too (both mid 60's) and said they probably would have liked it if they were 20yrs younger as they like a firmer mattress. (He's a Physio)So final verdict, 5 stars for Koalas returns policy. If more Aussie companies offered this kind of policy, Aussies would have a lot more pride in their purchases. I would purchase again from Koala based on their excellent return policy without hesitation. It also builds trust in a company that stands so well behind their product. Price was very reasonable for the build quality. If Koala listed this sofa as a 'very firm but very supportive mattress' and 'comfortable' couch, I think they would be received better. Also I think if you are objectively looking for something that does both brilliantly, then you (probably like me) have slightly unreasonable expectations that a $1500 sofa bed can be all things to all people. However if you like a very firm supportive mattress, then I think you will be very happy!

I love my Koala sofa bed for many reasons. It arrived quickly; it was super easy to assemble; it folds out effortlessly to a queen bed and has come with a comfy topper included; I also love the social & environmentally friendly ethos and consciousness of the company. I even love the colour. The only reason why I gave it 4-stars is because the fabric seems to not have much elasticity, therefore it does not maintain a smooth look after sitting in a spot. It is also a bit firm, which I don't mind so much as I feel supported. Most of all I love the indigenous print pillows which are a great accentuation to the couch presentation.
The couch was really easy to assemble and the directions were straightforward to follow with the associated video.The cushions are firm and the armrests are solid with the couch feeling fairly solid for now, but only time will tell.The foldout portion of the couch works well, however without a mattress topper the cushions themselves are very firm and not comfortable to sleep on. I would recommend using a mattress topper to make a comfortable night sleep.
My Koala journey started with excellent customer service. The delivery was prompt and assembly was easy. Both couch and sofa bed are very comfortable and the sofa bed pulls out in seconds! I love that you can tuck in a fitted sheet. The kids have already used it for sleepovers and movie nights. The only feedback is the description of the colour could be more detailed (eg. The dark grey has a blue-ish tone to it) to help customers work out if it would suit their house colourings.

It might be because of the material. if two people try to sit close to each other it actually sinks quite a bit than it would compared to a more traditional sofa. the padding type and everything does not give you the best feeling as a sofa. Also the bed part has 3 separate sections it's quite smart but if you are using it on a hard surface remember to clean it first because the sofa parts all just lay on the ground so it's better to be mindful of. And one more detail is that the legs are not adjustable.
