This is my 1st Ereader. I bought it for reason of reading in bed, less eye fatigue than using phone or lamp. I chose Kobo becos i thought it gives me access to library books. Libra Colour is nice with regards to build quality, user friendly etc. You can google all the reviews. I'm only super disappointed that Kobo don't support Libby, only Overdrive. I also didnt know that only books available in Kobo can be borrowed from Overdrive. if not available for sale, then no library borrowing too.Overdrive has been discontinued so the interface is very antique. there'll be no upgrade done. There are a lot of magazines and comics I borrow from Libby which are not available under Overdrive. So when you read FAQ that says that all that you have in Libby is imported, it is not ... This defeats the purpose of getting a colour reader too when the comics & magazines are not available to be borrowed. That said, Kobo like Kindle, still wants you to buy from them. if you have no issue with that, then this is a good e-reader. if you think you are getting Libby on Kobo = no, you are not at this point. There is a big difference between Overdrive and Libby.I'm also thankful for the $40 book vouchers (8x$vouchers).

Absolutely my favourite eReader - and I've used a few, including a Kindle Oasis.First off - the speed is wonderful. It's a lot faster than my last Libra, and that makes a huge difference when reading / browsing books and so on.The colour - is nice. Colours are subdued, and I wouldn't call it a game-changer - but it does have a good visual appeal.People have complained that the Libra Colour text isn't as sharp as its predecessor, but to me, it's just as good.I *love* the new dark mode (reading light text on a dark background) - it's perfect for reading at night without the glow disturbing my wife's sleep. One little gripe - I'd like to be able to toggle this mode with the brightness settings, instead of it being buried deeper in the reading settings, but that's a ... My LIbra2 sometimes bogged down with large epub books in the wuxia genre, which comprise hundreds, if not thousands, of chapters. There were also occasional problems with crashes.By comparison, the Libra Color performs quite well. Books load faster, selecting text is faster and more reliable, everything works without annoying lags.I did not buy it for the color, but it's a nice plus being able to see my book covers in (faded) colors.Unfortunately, it is significantly dimmer outdoors. Indoors I simply crank up the brightness, and it's not significantly different or less readable than my L2. But outdoors, it's like the background is now grey instead of a bright white. Still quite readable, just less so.Overall, I am quite satisfied with my purchase, and I think if ... I initially retuned my unit not bc it was defective but bc for nearly 300$ after taxs getting a cheaply made plastic feel device is a no go for me. After owning flagship android tablet and kindle scribe to get a plastic toy (feel of it) is just cheap. I dont care if its environmentally better for the globe, recycled aluminum body would be "as green" and more premium. That and the fact that the screen is not flush with the device buk sink into itnl by a full 1mm render it also archaic in 2024. The colour is cool but very washed out.I love the form factor but all i see is an expensive ereader that feel like a cheap toy.The note taking experience is very poor. It's awesome you can write in book directly but Kobo really need to ditch this, again, archaic technology ... Not at 300$ after tx! I regret selling my kindle scribe now.I returned to kind
I just picked the kobo libra colour yesterday. I have been playing with it on and off most of the day and I have to say I'm impressed. I haven't used of the features yet as I was most interested in the note taking part of it. I like to write and am trying to move away from paper. I have a surface pro 7 and loved it for writing and onenote. But the screen on my surface pro isn't working properly anymore and I can write with like I used to (function just doesn't work). The screen is not quite as slick/glassy/slippery as my surface pro. There isn't much more friction which is fine for me. I find that the two write fairly similarly with only slight and barely noticeable lag (if any) on my kobo. I was considering the kindle scribe originally but it's twice as expensive ... MoreI just picked the kobo libra colour yesterday. There isn't much more friction which is fine for me. I find that the two write fairly similarly with only slight and barely noticeable lag (if any) on my kobo. I was considering the kindle scribe originally but it's twice as expensive and there were none available. So far I have doodled on it and written notes with no problems functionally. I have used both types of notebooks and like both of them. The pages seem to be endless. The basic notebook uses pages while the advanced is endless scrolling like the onenote program. I have not tried looking at my notes online or anything but others have.I don't think I would use it to write a whole book or story but definitely to work out ideas. I would also consider it for taking meeting notes too.Pros:-Size (can carry it in my purse easily)-Works with other pens which is awesome. I bet the proprietary pen would be even better but that will have to wait.-the conversion to text is great and you can keep handwriting next to the converted text and continue writing and converting so you don't loose space.Cons:The thing freezes if you are using the notebook part for any length of time. Hasn't been an issue while reading though.Overall am happy with it. I would love to see improvements to the notebook application and fixes to freezing issue. It is still more e-reader then journal/notebook but I truly believe there is lots of space for improvements that could make a huge difference.
