When Octopath Traveler II was announced I was extremely excited! Having played the first Octopath Traveler, I knew I was in for a beautiful treat and my expectations were set high. This second installment greatly improved on story, character interactions, and battles. This game is perfect for fans of the previous game. It's also excellent for those who haven't played the previous game because the stories in both games are completely seperate. This game is a must buy!

Huge improvement from the last installment. Fantastic, engaging story and breathtaking visuals. Cannot wait to wake up again tomorrow and put a few hours into the game. Plus, the soundtrack is just beautiful. I can tell ppl put their heart into developing this, the result is simply stunning. I picked a seemingly plain character to start, but it actually stroke me as extremely memorable backstory. An amazing surprise, worth every cent

This game has the same exact gameplay as the original except more boring. The added features are poorly executed. But here is the worst part of this game: the storyline and the characters. The game goes overboard with tragedy, tragic plot twists, and cruel events in the storyline, to the point that it becomes repetitive and dull. The storyline for the most part is just bland, dark and depressing. It gets real cheesy when you know that at every progression of the story, some overboard tragic plot twist is around the corner. The postgame story is also boring and cliche. This game had alot of potential but it just doesn’t compare to the original Octopath Traveler in any way.

Fun, multipath game with retro-style pixel graphics placed into custom 3d pixelated-style environments. Fans of old school, turn-based JRPGs will definitely appreciate and enjoy the graphics, style, and gameplay. There are some difficult super-bosses that require a bit of planning and some grinding, but not really that bad unless you're new to the genre and aren't sure what to try, but even then you can look at some hint guides online if you run into problems. If you enjoy such style JRPG's, this will be right up your alley. Nice amount of play time for cost of the game.
Octopath Traveler II is a fantastic JRPG that builds on the strengths of its predecessor while also introducing some new and exciting elements. The game features a beautiful HD-2D art style, a deep and engaging combat system, and a cast of memorable characters. The story is well-written and engaging, and the game offers a ton of content to explore. If you're a fan of JRPGs, then Octopath Traveler II is a must-play.Here are some of the things I loved about Octopath Traveler II:The art style is absolutely stunning. I thoroughly enjoyed Octopath Traveler, so I was ecstatic to hear Square Enix was making Octopath Traveler II. The game is fun, with more mechanics and better character interactions. (Some of the travel banter is absolutely hilarious.) As for plot, most of the characters’ storylines are compelling, and I also like the easter eggs with side characters sprinkled in. If you come across this review, I will warn you that your first character will still be locked to your party until you beat their storyline. Also. some fights definitely felt too easy this time around, but then other fights were kind of tough. Take that with a grain of salt. Either way, if you enjoyed the first installment, I think you’ll enjoy this one too.
When I first played the first Octopath Traveler, there's was this sense of intrigue. It looked like games of the 16-bit era... but upscaled. I remember seeing the game in motion for the first time, and I was blown away by the beautiful graphics. The second time around, that sense of graphical beauty has somewhat diminished. Maybe my eyes got used to it, but with the sequel, I'm just playing it for the story, and I find myself just wanting to complete it for the sake of completing it.You once again have 8 characters, and each of them has multiple chapters to complete. There's still the sense of adventure as you go from town to town. The game holds your hand by showing you what level it recommends you be in order to survive that part of the map.I kinda wish you ... MoreWhen I first played the first Octopath Traveler, there's was this sense of intrigue. There's still the sense of adventure as you go from town to town. The game holds your hand by showing you what level it recommends you be in order to survive that part of the map.I kinda wish you could turn that off in the beginning. For me it's fun learning what parts of the map are too advance for my current levels. The stories are well written, and the characters are likeable. This time you have the opportunity to see some of the characters share some stories, so this is a major upgrade from the original. The music is still whimsical, and fitting for most of the sequences in the game. The cycle though for each character is similar. You go from chapter to chapter with the level requirement increase, and face a boss at the end.I'm sorry to say that the sequel actually feels like something I would have played during the Super Nintendo era. I don't see any major advances that makes me think I would like a third one, unless some major changes are made.I'm not saying it's a bad game, it's just, not anything amazing.
This game is a big step up from the original game. There are new stories and characters within the game. The soundtrack is well above the awesomeness from the first Octopath game. To me the graphics are a lot better than the original game head. I’m not knocking the first game down. All I’m saying is that this game has so many improvements from the first. This is really worth playing if you enjoyed the first game. I truly hope they come out with a third Octopath in the future.
