This is a great point and shoot camera, that takes great pictures. I bought this because I was going to visit family, and meet a few family members I never met before so I wanted to get some pictures. It's easy to understand how to use and has a few special settings. I bought rechargeable batteries and it worked great. It runs on double a batteries so if your batteries run out it's easy to find replacements. I need to get a strap for it. It can take video too. Everything can be saved on a card. I loved it.

Awesome little Bridge CameraPros: Has almost all the functionality of a DSLR (I have a Nikon D3500 so speaking from experience). You can play with P,S,A,M modes quite a lot and results are pleasing too once you get a hang of it. Superb feature like SCN mode, face beautification and panorama. Pictures in bright light are awesome if you master M mode and off course with Auto Mode. Pictures in low light are perfect with flash. I have tried out some SCN modes like night portrait and portrait and they seem to get desirable results. Setting menu is easy to understand and simple. So I directly used my SDHC card in laptop, so easy workaround. It uses 4 AA batteries, so I would suggest to go for rechargeable batteries. Its sad it cannot use more than 32 gb card because it fills up fast when you're on a photography spree, specially if you record videos too. So keep a spare or two memory cards if you don't want to carry a laptop while photography to unload the photos/videos.overall - I feel its a worth it camera for 99 bucks and if you want to learn photography basics. Small and easy to Carry and takes crisp images with right configuration. Don't expect it to work wonders like a DSLR, even though it has all the similar function (because obviously Sensor makes a huge difference). But I am sure it would beat smartphone photography or point and shoot photography.

I was very nervous about purchasing this camera because of the negative reviews but after giving it a try all I can say is WOW!! I was very surprised at the quality of the pictures. Very clear, very vibrant and super nice. The camera has a 40x zoom and it does take a steady hand when it’s zoomed out that far. The thing I noticed from another Kodac camera I had is you push the button halfway down and then the camera focuses on the subject. If you rush past that detail none of the pictures will be in focus. I found the camera very easy to use in all different environments. We went on a very long hike through the 4 Peaks mountain range where we had panoramic veiws of Rossevelt Lake on 1 side and the Superstition mountains on the other. The camera preformed flawlessly. ... MoreI was very nervous about purchasing this camera because of the negative reviews but after giving it a try all I can say is WOW!! Except those times when I was zoomed all the way out, the camera takes awhile to actually focus, the picture taking was effortless and enjoyable! 1 thing, the lens cap does not stay on but a small piece of tape fixed that! I would recommend this camera to any one who is looking for something that costs a little less but preforms like a higher priced camera. As for the batteries, I like the fact that they are NOT rechargable. I will never find myself unable to take pictures because my batteries aren’t charged. Just put in 4 new batteries and off we go. It’s not THAT big of a deal to carry extras in the case that I have for it. I have not noticed the camera being a huge battery hog. I’ve taken about 200 pictures and still have yet to change from the batteries that came as start up batteries. I am very satisfied with my purchase and I bought the sd card at the same time. The camera discription clearly states what card will work and what will not work. Buy the correct card and there should be no problems. I am very glad that I didn’t let the negative reveiws push me in another camera dirrection. This camera is way better than I thought it would be because of those reveiws. I expect many years of use from this camera just like I had from my last Kodac camera. Great product, great price and completely satisfied with my purchase of this AMAZING little gem.

Go-to Card
4 June 2024

For my stills work this is my go-to card. I like sticking with 32GB sized cards. I find they have plenty of room for my RAW files during a shoot. I'd rather stay with smaller sized cards in case anything happens to them. I'm shooting dual cards anyway so I always have a backup. If your shooting video I'd get a faster card, I use the 300MB V90 120GB SanDisk cards for 4K video files but much much more expensive.

I Ordered A New One, They Sent Me A Used One

I knew right away that something might be wrong when I opened the box. The box the camera came in was damaged and used. The seal had been broken. Inside I found that it was missing the 4 AA batteries that it said was included. The lens on the camera was smudged. The quick start instruction manual was written on by an ink pen. . Isn't there any quality control anymore at Walmart??? Whichever overpaid employee who packed the camera could clearly see that the box was damaged and that the item was not new. Anyways, I tested the camera out and it seems to work fine. The pictures it took were sharp and clear. It takes video also, but the only thing that I don't like is that there is no way to pause your video. Just what I needed!
19 February 2019

I had not owned a standalone camera since 2005, because when smartphones came, they were actually better for point and shoot. But after recently getting into birds, I decided I needed a real camera with zoom, so I did some research. I knew (from my astronomy hobby) that cameras with smaller sensors struggle with low light (and its aggravated at longest zoom), but the cameras with larger sensors are a lot more expensive, (and tend to require larger/heavier lenses). So I was not expecting Pro DSLR performance, just something good enough for casual birding. This kodak camera delivered just what I needed. The 40x optical zoom is great for getting close up to birds without them flying away. Heres too snapshots from yesterdays birding trip (taken at full 40x zoom in auto mode). Focusing at 40x takes some learning (and its not very fast), and the continuous shooting gatling mode is a little dark/noisy (I ended up just taking normal stills), but its definitely good enough for what I wanted: casual birding. About batteries: I chose the 401 over the 421 because of the AA batteries. Tip: on settings menu, set screen brightness to -2, and very important: when using rechargable batteries, set battery type to NiMH on the menu, because rechargables are lower voltage (if you dont set this correctly, the camera cant tell a half-full rechargable from a discharged alkaline). With those two settings and eneloop rechargables Ive had no issues. Yous probably enjoy this camera if your budget cant stretch beyond $150 and you want a camera for: daytime outdoor use with good light, quality superzoom, optical image stabilization for hand-holding it, compact and lighweight for carrying along with binos on birding hikes, AA batteries for reliability/replaceability (have you ever had to replace a perfectly good smartphone just because its built in lithium battery cant hold charge anymore?). I wouldnt get it for shooting night weddings, bur for my style of birding, its great!

Not great for outdoor use/can’t see screen
5 March 2023

Can’t see LCD screen in the sunshine. I specifically bought this camera for a research project and also to take photos outside. I live in Arizona where the sun is fairly bright however, I would assume that anywhere that has sunshine would have the same problem. The photos were just OK. The camera is fairly slow. About 8 to 10 seconds between each photo to be ready to take another and I found that cumbersome. Not being able to see the screen outside was definitely a dealbreaker and I returned the camera.

Sucks for recording videos. Fortune on batteries.
23 November 2022

Takes beautiful photos once you get used to the focus feature. The videos are nice and clear until it gets blurry out of no where. Having to use battery sucks because it drains it so quickly. I will admit the customer service is great but their tips don't help. They said "take the batteries out when you're not using it" i did. "Use only Energizer or Duracell" i am. I record in intervals of an average 2-7 mins each time and it won't even last for a total of 30 mins before it claims the batteries are dead. The price is very reasonable but you will spend even more money in batteries in the first 3 months. So if you can afford it especially if you're recording videos and not just taking photos then i suggest that you buy a better camera.

Tremendous Bang for the Buck Ratio

I bought a red one a few years back and have now over 10,000 pictures with it, so I actually flipped the numbering file system on it (think like so many miles that the odometer flips). Absolutely love it. If you are comparing this to a camera that cost over a thousand dollars, then that is ridiculous because you can't compare a sports car to an F1 racer. But that doesn't mean that I'm not thrilled to see the images that I get and that this camera brought me so much happiness seeing wildlife up close, and with great clarity and image quality! Of course this camera doesn't have a huge sensor like a $3,000 unit, so lighting will be important. But it has taken great shots even when my eyes couldn't see. Kodak actually licenses its name to JK Imaging, and from my experience with this camera, JK Imaging made a great name for itself to me. I think that they made the right selection for battery type also! 4 AA batteries, very easy to obtain, recharge, very versatile. Like I said, at 10,500 pictures, I think I got my money's worth! And it is still looking and working like new!

Kodak did a nice job despite its small market presence today.
