Without even looking at the instructions, I unpacked it out of the box and had it inflated in 5 minutes with the included double-action pump - couldn't have been easier or more intuitive to setup. It tracks like a dream on the water with the rigid drop-stitch floor and twin skeg fins. I let my 18yr old daughter take it on the Salt River, and with the rigid floor she stood in it as a paddle board for most of the float, and dropped into seated position for the few rapids. Excellent kayak. Very light and portable. Easy to store. Just what I needed for my lake house where I needed to carry it down to the dock and launch from the dock. Will deflate for the winter as I have limited storage. I was concerned that it might not track well due to it being short and lightweight but with the fins it tracked very well and handled the rough chop on July 4. I will watch for sales and will likely buy a second one.

I wanted to really like this Kayak. I bought it from an authorized retailer in my area and it was brand new in the box. I took it out for the first time and the seat broke. One of the plastic buckles that holds the seat strap to the kayak just snapped under the weight of me just paddling. Really these buckles are the Achilles heel of this kayak. Another comment is that when you have the plugs open, it really lets a lot of water into the kayak. It was much more than expected at first. Other than that mishap, the kayak was good. It tracked well, it was lightweight but handled the waves well, and the overall shape was great. The bag is large enough to allow you to stuff it back inside without any issues. I love this kayak! It's so easy and quick to set up, and I can do it without relying on others. Deflating, drying out and repacking is also very easy. First time out I didn't use the skegs, but I will next time as it didn't always track well. I also need to spray some silicone spray in the paddle pieces so it's easier to assemble and take apart. I can see why this model is currently sold out and am so glad I have one -- I highly recommend it!!
Lightweight, yet sturdy in water. I appreciate the two tracking fins and self-bailing drains, even though i haven't needed the drains. Great design with plenty of room and handy Velcro straps to hold paddle. The foot block helps as well, i wish my other inflatable kayaks had this. I'm very pleased with this purchase! This model is a breeze to set up and get going on the lake.
Overall, I am very impressed with this kayak. It is half the weight of a similar competitor kayak. Easy and fast to inflate. Light to haul around. Easy to pack up. Nice paddling for its shorter length due to the dual skeg setup. Due to its short length, it will not win any speed contests, but it paddles nicely and is extremely maneuverable. I actually got it surfing a wake left by a mooring bouy during peak tidal flow.A couple of minor comments. 1) While the 6 psi floor did a good job at rigidity, I did find it bending at the seat. A floor that could take a few more psi would solve this. 2) The paddle only has a neutral position. Really like the Platte boat. I found it easy to set up and to repack. I would improve the foot brace, but that is minor. I like the two skegs to improve tracking and the self bailing holes with plugs. The one thing I am disappointed in is the paddle. You could at least include one we could feather.
We love our Platte Kayaks. they are very stable and track well. The customer service at Kokopelli is excellent, this is the second pair of rafts we have purchased through Kokopelli. They truly want to make sure the customer is happy!
Purchased 2 at the Overland Show in Bend. 80+ Needed light boat that could be stored and this was perfect. Easy fill and solid construction. Already used on both river and lake. Thanks for building a great product.
