MONTHS AFTER I THREW THE KONG TOY OUT BECAUSE IN SHORT ORDER IT DISENTEGRATED. I GATHERED UP THE PIECES AND DISPOSED OF THEM. APPARENTLY MY DOG HID PIECES. HE ENDED UP WITH AN INTESTINAL BLOCKAGE AND EMERGENCY SURGERY. AFTER ALMOST LOSING HIM AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. HE IS OK.

I have a German Shepherd Pit Bull mix. This has worked great to keep my dog preoccupied. I see commenters have had issues with it being destroyed fairly quickly. I keep this in a rotation of different toys in hopes that it will last longer. So far we can play tug a few times and then my dog sits down and chews for a little bit. The handles allow my dog to hold the toy on their own and pull and chew. Overall, it is lasting far longer (2 months and counting) than any rope toy (ropes last about 5 days) for this powerful chewer.

Great toy!

We got this for our lab mix that we adopted in Feb 2021. She turned a year old in January and still has a lot of puppy traits especially chewing and nipping! It’s like having a toddler again! I’ve caught her chewing on my rugs, shoes, socks, and she picks strands out of the carpet if left unsupervised. One day she was laying by the full view front storm door, watching the world outside. It seemed harmless enough since I could see most of her from my chair. But then I realized that I could hear noises. When I called her over she had a piece of the plastic frame that holds the glass in the storm door! This toy helps a lot. She loves it. It's actually sturdy!
31 December 2022

We have two German shepherds, a pitbull/lab mix, and a lab. This toy can withstand the roughest chewing, tug of war, and wrestling they can dish out with eachother or with a person. Kong toys and nylabones are the only toys my lab doesn't reduce to scraps. All other toys that claim to be unchewable, our lab destroys. After giving it to our dogs supervised for a few weeks and seeing that they don't chew it into little chunks they can choke on, I'm now confident in leaving it out when we're gone. And even with our lab's separation anxiety chewing, this toy remains intact! Highly recommend. We also have normal Kongs, a Kong tire, and a Kong ball that are equally sturdy.

Love it!
10 December 2023

My puppy loves to play tug-of-war, but also loves to shred any fabric toys. I was looking for an alternative to his favorite tug toy, the Kong Wubba, that he wouldn't be able to shred so quickly (he was destroying a Wubba within 10 days!). We love this toy! Great for pulling and stands up to chewing! For reference, my puppy is a 5 month old GSD/Alaskan Malamute mix, 60lbs.

Not just for large dogs

We got this for our 20lb mini schnauzer and it’s a total win. He is a very savvy chewer, and is surprisingly strong at tug, and he loves this toy. We don’t leave him with it unsupervised because he goes through chew toys at the same pace other reviewers are describing with labs and pit bulls. But when used as an interactive fetch & tug toy, this is great. Not too heavy for a smaller dog to carry, lots of places to bite when he’s fetching it, and it keeps our hands at a safe distance when he gets a little too enthusiastic. I’m back to replace it because have a fox that roams the neighborhood stealing rubber dog toys that get left outside (I’m not joking - this is the third time), so heads up on that, lol. Great toy.

Successful Purchase

He absolutely loves this toy! My hand is also grateful. It’s flexible and comfortable to grip. The toy is not easy for him to grip like a rope, but loves that. Anything that makes him work harder for it is a win. We play then put away because it’s obviously not a toy I would encourage him to chew at.If this toy survives simple tug of war without chewing, I’ll update my review. I don’t trust some of these reviews because I believe some people think all toys should survive being endlessly torn up by their heavy chewers.

Tough toy
29 September 2023

This tug toy is the best investment I have ever made. Bought this toy two years ago after my dog destroyed every toy within hours. I thought I’d try this one in the hopes it may last for at least a week. He chewed & tugged every day. Within a few weeks he chewed a crack in one of the loops. I thought that was the beginning of the end. I bought the most recent one as a replacement because I figured it was near the end of its life. Now we have two! I will buy another but hopefully not any time soon.

low ratings are almost all due to user error

This is a tug toy, not a chew toy. If you leave a dog unsupervised with a soft rubber toy like this and they are chewers, then yeah, I’m sure your experience with it is pretty bad because you’re out the money for no reason. I have 3 large dogs. A lab, English bulldog, and German Shepherd. This tug toy is AWESOME. I try to avoid rope toys because my shepherd shreds them and eats the strings, but this one she can really mash on and it holds up. (But I still put it up when it’s stopped being used for actual tugging.)

my dog loved this... too much.

Literally NOTHING survives my pit bull. This lasted longer than most, but it still only lasted two weeks - it was the way we would wear him out when the weather doesn't permit a jog. Is there anything in the entire world that my pittie cannot destroy? So here I am ordering another one a mere two weeks later. We'll have to just put that one up somewhere when not in use so he can't destroy it.
