A very cool digital piano Korg D1

A great musical instrument for performing and recording in the studio. Among all digital pianos at this price point, this keyboard most closely resembles an acoustic piano keyboard. The sound also exceeded my expectations. Special thanks for delivery to Ukraine. Great store, I will be a regular customer from now on. Thank you!

This feels just like playing a real piano. Very nice response to force and repetition. I really like the simple, minimal design. I have never had a use for keyboards full of lessons, song demos, cheesy backing tracks, and other unnecessary clutter (The D1 does have demo stuff but at least it's out of the way). This still has plenty of useful features to control, such as the metronome, tunings, and lots of options for combining sounds. That being said, it would be a nice touch if parameters of some of the sounds could be changed like on the real instruments, like the organs or electric pianos. But that's not a huge deal since I didn't buy this to have total control over every aspect of the sound - I mainly just wanted a realistic piano (but I do especially like the ... MoreThis feels just like playing a real piano. But that's not a huge deal since I didn't buy this to have total control over every aspect of the sound - I mainly just wanted a realistic piano (but I do especially like the Rhodes and 60s electric piano). The only annoyance I have found so far is that there is a subtle high pitch frequency that is audible through headphones. It's not particularly loud or noticeable at normal volumes and it didn't seem worth it to go to the trouble of sending this big thing back and exchanging it. It is easily removed with an EQ adjustment if you're recording or playing through an amp but still slightly disappointing since everything else about this piano is so enjoyable. I'm still giving 5 stars with the assumption that it is just an isolated problem and not something found in all of them. The included pedal works well - it does not do half pedaling so if you want the full real piano experience, you'll have to upgrade the pedal. Overall, very happy with the purchase - looks great, sounds great, feels great.

EXCELLENT Keybed

Overall:The Korg D1 RH3 keybed justifies the price. As time moves forward, lower- to moderately-priced keyboards are inclined to omit midi in/out (5-pin) ports in favor of USB "To Device". But in a stage or studio setup I prefer midi for being able to drive an array of midi external modules, etc. The unit has Midi IN/OUT, damper, LINE OUT and headphone jacks along with 30-built-in voices, Reverb, Chorus, Transpose, Touch Control, Temperaments, Effects and Metronome. The D1 digital piano is not ONLY for stage; it is a piano PERIOD - for home and studio use as well. The piano voices are very good for the price-point. The unit is solidly built with handsome Japanese minimalist styling. Everything you need!
23 September 2021

I am just learning the piano as an older adult after all these years. I did a lot of research into various makes and models. What it came down to was the reality that to start out, the key action is the most important aspect of a piano, with sound coming a close second. The RH3 piano bed on the Korg D1 feels absolutely amazing! Well balanced and smooth as silk. This is the same keyboard they use in the SV2 Vintage Piano. It's weighted and will help you develop good technique. And the sounds! I have read reviews that said the sounds are dated. Not the case at all. Particularly the organs and the e-pianos are marvelous. You will not be disappointed. My piano was delivered in great shape with no damage. I am thoroughly enjoying myself!

Good keyboard but things to keep in mind.
29 June 2022

Great keyboard feel & acoustic piano sounds (what I mainly use it for)NO external speakers so you could connect via 1/4" Line Out or even 3.5mm to a regular home speaker that has an AUX IN or get budget friendly studio monitors and connect via Line out TRS cables. ( ex. PreSonus Eris 3.5 or 4.5 ). Or even just use headphones. Iwould not recommend using a guitar amp for sound. No bluetooth available on the keyboard. The pedal that comes included w/ the keyboard does NOT support half-pedaling. You would need to purchase the Korg DS-1H pedal separately. Hope this answers some questions.

Great keyboard action, very good quality tones, great dealer service.

Brought this without the chance to try it out, based on several reviews I was able to find on line and the price that DJCity was offering it for. The keyboard action definitely lives up to the positive reviews. Most of the piano tones are very good, but probably not quite the quality I was expecting from the online reviews, (but having said that, much improved on the Casio CDP200 this is replacing.) All in all, I am very happy with the quality of the electric piano.DJCity did a great job for me by, 1. Supplying it at a great special price.2. Holding it for several weeks until I could arrange to pick it up.3. Incredible hammer-feel; good-enough tones

Sure, she's a heavy girl at 35 pounds, but it plays like a real piano, the feel. I have it plugged into a Peavey KB3 (not a great amp, no, but durable and multifaceted), and while the tones are pretty good, they're not great to my ear, yet I am an analog snob-- nothing beats a real piano -- so there's that. Anyhow, for the money -- I finally own a Korg! -- it is a great value, and look forward to spending maybe just a little less time on guitar and more time on the D1. My sales rep Logan is great and extremely musically inclined and knowledgeable (the man knows his hard bop! Very happy with my Sweetwater experience. Korg D1 Black
18 November 2022

I was searching for a barebones portable MIDI controller, with a high quality hammer action, and the Korg D1 checked both boxes. While the onboard sounds are OK, they don't compare to a VST like Pianoteq, which I'm always using. Note that the included pedal doesn't support half damping (though one that does is available separately). If I were to nitpick, I wish that the three-digit LED display for the metronome could be turned off. Otherwise, it's a great keyboard for this price point.

Manufacturer packaging completely inadequate
5 September 2022

Great piano for the price. Good sounds and hammer weighted keyboard. Ideal as 88 key midi controller with 5 pin din sockets. Manufacturer internal packaging completely inadequate for weight of the piano, so first one delivered with 4 damaged keys. PMT did a straight swap replacement as soon as notified on delivery, so can't fault them. Looking online, this is a common problem with the packing. Korg need to increase internal packing considerably to protect from damage in transit.

Review of Korg D1 Digital Stage Piano in Black
27 August 2020

I spent a long time deciding which digital piano to buy and I'm glad I chose the Korg D1. I am used to playing a Steinway grand, but I need the Korg for when I move out of my parents' house. I largely bought it for the key action, and whilst it took a bit of getting used to, I am very happy with the weight and touch sensitivity of the keys. The piano sounds on the D1 are alright, until I compare them with the Steinway, and then i realise how much better the Steinway is. However, for a £500 keyboard this is probably not a fair comparison, and I love the organ sounds and honky tonk piano sounds that it has. I am keen on recording and mixing my own songs, so the fact that the Korg D1 has stereo line outputs to go into my audio interface is really useful. I was worried that the pedal wouldnt be very good, but it gives the right amount of resistance when you push it down (so it feels real) and the lack of half pedalling didnt bother me like I thought it would. Overall I'm really happy with the korg,it does exactly what I bought it for, and it is very good quality for the money. It is quite heavy though, so I'm not looking forward to moving it!
