This keyboard has some very good and very poor points. When you select a style there is no indication on the screen as to the elements of the style making it a hassle to set up. Also you can not label your saved settings - big hassle. ! Some sounds were great some not so great. Especially disappointed in piano sounds: grand piano sounded great, but rock piano sound was very disappointing. I would definitely get some bucks together and upgrade to the pa 700, 900 or 1000. Or enjoy for the price if you are a hobbyist or a church person using the same consistent piano and strings settings .

This Korg keyboard has great tones, is light and portable and intuitive to use without having to dive into a manual all the time. The key action is very nice with smooth operation and touch sensitivity. It seems to be solidly built and should last years if properly looked after. I am very pleased with it.An added bonus is that it is possible to layer three sounds in the upper register whereas most entry level keyboards are limited to two. This makes for a fuller.richer sound. The keyboard has 20 watts of amplification which makes it more than loud enough for home and intimate gig use without additional amplification.

This is a very nice keyboard. The cost is more than the Yamaha E463 but I think it's worth it. It's a very easy keyboard to work with and I love that you can have 3 voices play together. The styles are very good. I wish there were even more, but this is an entry level arranger, so for the cost, you get a lot of bang for your buck. After playing it for awhile, I went to a brick and mortar store to play the Yamaha and came to the conclusion that the EK-50 limitless is easier to play and the sound is definitely better. With some discounts, you can get the price down so you wont feel so bad about paying a little extra.

If you love music, this keyboard is for you!
21 November 2018

If you need a great arranger or synthesizer then you are looking at the wrong keyboard. If however you want a keyboard to play beautiful music that is also fun to play, look no further. The Korg ek50 is fantastic. It is easy to learn and play since it was designed for exactly that use. The keyboard sounds great and the sounds are truly realistic. The music styles cover just about every type of music that exists and add total realism to every thing that you play. This is the finest sounding keyboard that I have heard in my 65 years of involvement with music.

Korg EK50 -An excellent keyboard-if you can figure out how to use it.
29 June 2021

This keyboard has an enormous amount of musical choices , however the owner's manual is very BASIC and doesn't help a buyer learn how to understand ,and how to use this keyboard . I found a voice name list on the internet-but once again there are no explanations on how the access all of these voices. - I also found Korg 14 page "manual" EFGCJ on the internet- It helped a little -but again was.VERY BASIC. Korg should publish an in depth manual or book to help buyers get the most out of this excellent keyboard. Jeremy See"s You Tube videos have been a life saver.WAKE UP KORG!!!!

Korg ek50. Shipping

Overall:After all the you tubes and research on this keyboard, I decided to purchase it through zZounds. Oh course I never got to use it because when it arrived it looked like it went through a war. Volume control was damaged. Box was crushed, sides were ripped. I have never seen anything like this. I had to almost use an entire roll of packing tape to restore the box in order to return it. FEDEX seems to care less about the condition of the merchandise they are delivering. I love doing business with zZounds, they are great, but sorry to say, I will have to go to a Local music store to purchase this unit so I can examine the box right there. If you are purchasing any keyboard to be shipped, you better order a flight case and have them ship it in the flight case or have them triple box any keyboard being shipped and triple the foam inside each layer. I have ordered other items from zZounds of a lighter weight with no problems. However, any keyboard over 20 lbs has to be protected. Power amps are different, they will probably survive the trip. Keyboards are a whole different story. Once fedex throws a box weighing 50 to 75 lbs on top of that keyboard it will crush the top of that box and crush the control knobs. The 5 stars is for zZounds.

Little beast

I love this keyboard. Compared to competitive models from Casio and Yamaha, this feels much better in term of build quality, keybed solidness and most importantly keys velocity. It's very responsive and intuitive. I love the big illuminated chunky buttons. Very easy to find and memorize. This is important when you do a live gig because you'd want the physical interface (buttons and knobs) to be easily accessible and responsive. This keyboard delivers. The screen is superb. Very simple and straight forward. Text is large, contrasty and easy to read. Again this is important for live gig because you don't want to be burdened with menu digging. The internal speakers are superb. Very loud and good fidelity but not better than a good external monitors! (That's never gonna ... MoreI love this keyboard. The internal speakers are superb. Very loud and good fidelity but not better than a good external monitors! (That's never gonna happen for keyboards lol) This keyboard needs 2 things: 1. A way to capture or load samples. Maybe someone in the near future will hack its firmware and allow you to copy samples? Not that it doesn't have that many, apart from the keyboard sets it actually has over 700 sound effects! 2. Instead of the 2-axis joystick to control filter amd modulation, I prefer a 1-axis modulation control wheel and a knob for filter! Should you buy this keyboard? Well, it depends on what you wanna do; if you are looking to just play, entertain and have fun then this keyboard -true to its name- delivers! If you want to produce from scratch, i suggest looking for a synthesizer like Korg Krome or Roland Juno DS-10, more expensive yes but more features for production. But my personal opinion on that one is just get a midi controller and use DAW software!

Nice board
15 February 2023

I bought this board after having to return brand-new Casio CTX 5000 for a bad speaker straight out of the box, and a new Yamaha PSR-EW 425 for multilple problems after 2 weeks of use, so I was out of options without spending a lot more. No issues with this board. It's a bit pricey compared to the others and it's not perfect but it plays well and has good key action. Materials and manufacturing quality are excellent. The 4 voice layers with the ability to turn layers off and on at will are terrific. Same with the 4 layers of backing tracks/styles, turn them off or on as you need. Most of the factory installed "keyboard sets" are good mixes of instruments that can be used for a small venue gig The only complaints I have are with current features and functionality. ... MoreI bought this board after having to return brand-new Casio CTX 5000 for a bad speaker straight out of the box, and a new Yamaha PSR-EW 425 for multilple problems after 2 weeks of use, so I was out of options without spending a lot more. Most of the factory installed "keyboard sets" are good mixes of instruments that can be used for a small venue gig The only complaints I have are with current features and functionality. This board really needs more polyphony, a second foot pedal input, more memory slots for custom setups, maybe the ability to edit and save a few custom tones, and some topside controls for the 4 sound layers and backing layers so there's not as much button pushing involved. Basic controls like volume and a few DSP effects (volume, rotary speaker, pan effect, maybe reverb would be terrific. Also some of the backing styles sound a bit old and can really use an update/upgrade. This is where the Casio and Yamaha were better, but they were physically messed up the day I got them. I look to forward to Korg doing a big update/upgrade on this board and I will probably buy it.

Quality product with the best price in the country
24 January 2022

Such a quality product. If you love playing with some extra volume (without the need for external speakers), I’d highly recommend this one over the normal EK50 model. Worth the addition price. At the time I purchased, Folders definitely had the best price around the country . Happy customer (^_^)

Worth every penny...
6 June 2023

I am an experienced player and own many pro level boards. This board is worth every penny and you can gig with it if you tweak the settings and amplify it properly. It sounds really great as well. It deserves 5 stars within it's category (portable keyboards).
