Cool trippy display. With several tuning modes to use you can kind of cross-check and get fairly precise tuning. Unfortunately, the built-in mic started giving me trouble after several weeks - sometimes it just wouldn't pick up the sound of the strings. Fresh batteries, holding close to the instrument didn't help. It just wasn't registering any external signal. Couple of weeks after that, the mic quit entirely and now I can only use it on electrics, or acoustics with pickups. Since I bought it mainly for my acoustic guitars, I can't say I'm satisfied. I emailed Korg and they actually did respond, but couldn't offer any solutions. I guess I'll keep shopping around for a good, accurate, reliable tuner.

It's a terrific little tuner with a beautiful display. It's 3D so you don't have to be looking directly at it. I don't use the pass-thru feature; I would have bought a pedal tuner if I needed that. I wanted something compact/portable that can use accept a cable but also has a mic and it had to be relatively accurate. +/-0.1 cents is quite respectable. The only thing I would change is give it the ability to stay on and preferably, accept a power adapter. Then I'd leave it permanently connect to a parallel output. They made a huge wall-mount version of this tuner but it was not nearly as accurate as this (by a factor of 10).

I have owned this for about a year. Frustrated after years of fooling with finicky headstock tuners and their micro batteries I had to find a better option. The display is great and standard AAA batteries is a huge plus.

The GA Custom tuner is fast, detecting the string and indicating the name almost instantly. I thought the 3D display would be a gmmick but it's not and you can view the display from any angle without losing accuracy. The display is bright and easily seen from ten feet or more. The tuner and strobe react quicky to pitch changes and green and blue LEDs leave no doubt as to when accurate pitch is achieved. This tuner works better for me than the fussy Polytune Clip I originally bought and I'm able to keep it inline with my amp all the time using a piece of Velcro to hold it down. Power draw is minimal so keeping it on while playing isn't a problem and it's always ready when needed. It uses AAA batteries which are cheap and available everywhere. Great tuner and a bargain.
You WILL be satisfied with the Korg GA Custom Hand-Held Tuner. I had my doubts about ordering it because of the low B string on my 5-string bass guitar. The previous tuner I purchased would not even recognize the low B note. The Korg GA tuner zeroes right in on the note, just as easy as all the other strings. It's light weight, portable, easy to use and has bright, sexy tuning displays. Bottom line - Good job Korg!
It's hard to get too excited about a simple yet necessary device, but, the display on this tuner is truly amazing. The 3 D, almost holographic window is very easy to view from any angle, and seems to be much more stable than a lot other tuners I've tried. There are 3 display options to choose from, slightly different from each other, but all work just fine. The specs claim it is the most accurate tuner available, to within 0.1 cent. I can't prove that, but, this is a very cool gadget.
Overall:Out of all the tuners I have used over the past 35 years, the Korg GA is an all time favorite to keep handy. Very accurate, batteries last a long while. Durable, too,as I have one that's seen 2 yrs solid of road travel/gigs, it works like new. The GA Tuner will fit in any pocket of your gig bag or guitar case. I am tempted to buy a couple more for back up, just in case, but the one I have just keeps on keepin' on, so no need. I'm just afraid they will discontinue them, they really are a little known keeper. Get one!
I propped it up on the coffee table with a pick and tuned a used Taylor Academy 12 from GC-Austin for the first time as I prepare to start learning guitar and baritone ukulele, a Mitchell MUB70S from Guitar Center online arriving within a week. Three different display modes are available, and watching the blue bands move toward the center green band is very intuitive. Two AAA batteries for power should last quite some time. Added a Seiko clip-on pickup accessory for this tuner to my wish list, just in case.
Just want to share an idea with everybody - To make the power button and the input jack more easily visible under low-light or otherwise altered conditions, I used a silver Sharpie pen to highlight the On button and draw a circle around the jack .. SO much better! I also drew a circle with an arrowhead on my Boss tuner.
I picked up this tuner to have around as a spare. Usually I just use a tuner app on my phone or the tuner on my board, but recently I was jamming with friends and did not have my board. Tried to use phone, but dudes are having fun and playing away, making it impossible to use phone. I decided to get a korg clip on (also a great tuner) which works fine, but on some of my guitars it can be a bit hard to read. So I grabbed one of these and I'm not sorry. Sometimes it's just a good idea to have different choices for different situations. When plugged in it only receives a signal from the instrument you're tuning, and is unaffected by external noise (music?). Works fine for my bass, banjo, uke, and down tuned guitars. I think it would work great for tuning any type of stringed instrument. Very useful for when I'm working on instruments as it can be placed right on the workbench. I believe it is very accurate.
