This was absolutely disgusting. There was a bitter aftertaste that lasted about an hour after consumption. I was able to dial it down somewhat by soaking the pancakes in syrup, but it still made everything afterwards taste really bad. It's hard enough getting a 6-year-old to take ownership of his gluten allergy, so feeding him something that tastes this bad does not help the situation! I will try a different brand next time.

makes just ok pancakes and awful waffles.I followed directions carefully and just didn't work well. My two main concerns are taste and texture. Decided to buy this product because I was raised on Pearl Milling/Aunt Jemima and continued with that brand as an adult. Wanted to try something new. Sorely disappointed--even more since I bought the family size bag. Im going back to Pearl Milling. 😞

Our friends, the masters of breakfasts outside and at home, brought this to our joint camping trip. We had a bit of leftover buttermilk and added that with water. The real maple syrup was anticlimactic; after trying a bite with, I left it off. These were lovely on their own. Add a few toasted pecans or some blueberries - wow!!!When I looked for Krusteaz Sweet Cream Pancake less than a week later I could not find in my store. But I did get the Southern cornbread mix to try with my from scratch (toasted & ground the chilies myself, etc.) chili con carne last night.... Thank you Krusteaz!!!!

Have only ever used the other brand biscuit & baking mix to make pancakes before and they are always perfect, always yummy. I tried making these as directed (YUCK! Exactly as I'd imagine flour + water paste to taste); I tried subbing milk for water (still yuck but also impossible to turn because of sticking); I tried adding sugar (stuck even worse if it was sugar + milk, but almost as bad to stick sugar to the water recipe).Stuck with a Club-sized bag of this junk that I will happily toss as soon as I get the big yellow box mix back in the pantry.
Krusteaz has been my gold standard for pancake mix for years. But this latest box of mix has turned me completely off buying it going forward. My pancakes taste like oatmeal. I generally like oatmeal, but not in pancake form, please. Unfortunate sign of the times when companies are willing to cost cut their way to a ruined product while increasing their prices. I’ll just make my own mix moving forward. Thanks for the memories, Krusteaz.
Best pancake mix with super clear instructions! The only thing I would change is the temp setting, it says to heat griddle at 375°F but that's too high, keep it between 330-350° . If you want to make some for just yourself use 1/2 cup of mix, 1/3 cup of water and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, it will make two, 5inch pancakes. These pancakes have the best flavor (only 2nd to ihops). They cook really well with a little pinch of butter on a nonstick pan. I love the resealable bag, it has real high quality sealing. The fact that it's so much for an inexpensive price makes it a great value. I use the original Aunt Jemima syrup (I'm not saying the new name its racist), and some Challenge salted butter. The synergy of these flavors is out of this world. I posted pics to ... MoreBest pancake mix with super clear instructions! They have too much baking soda or powder in them as they are horribly bitter. I loved Krusteaz brand before having to give up gluten and was very happy when I saw this on the shelf. I am now regretting it. I followed the instructions as directed but I did add fresh blueberries. I ate the blueberries separately and they did not have any bitterness, they were wonderfully sweet with a few tart ones. The pancakes were sweeter than I expected and bitter on the first bite. I though maybe that my taste buds were off but after continuing to eat the bitterness just kept coming. It got to the point my mouth felt like it was coated with something gross and bitter. I have a plate full of left over pancakes in the fridge that I was going to have for the next couple of days ... MoreThey have too much baking soda or powder in them as they are horribly bitter. It tastes like how an attic smells! I made a batch and it was gross. I tried making another batch but I added vanilla and melted butter to try and make it taste better but that didn't help. I love pancakes I've had many different brands but wanted to try something different. I like other krusteaz products but the pancakes mix is the worst. I will never eat these again. I don't know how other reviewers can say it tastes good. They must've never had other brands before or never had pancakes and don't know what they should taste like. What a waste of $7.00
This is not only super easy to prepare but it tastes homemade. I do a lot of baking and cooking from scratch but sometimes I just want to take a day off. We recently made these for a Church event for our Boyscouts and when I tell you how great they were, I mean not ONE complaint from the whole place. They kept coming back up for more. We made them plain, added chocolate chips and blueberries and they were all excellent. I love that it's a just add water type of thing because with the cost of eggs these days and the amount of milk you would go through? no thanks. They fluff up and give that rich homemade pancake that you want, every time. very pleased with this.
took a chance on this because well, i'm lazy, and just add water sounded right up my alley. after mixing, you let it sit for 2 minutes and the leavenings start working. the pancakes come out thick and delicious.it's a good price because you get so much and it's high quality. i wish there was a smaller size because i'm only cooking for one and i have to halve the smallest batch so i don't make too much. but if you have kids, you totally need to get this. it makes great pancakes fast.
