[brand:loreal-excellence-hair-color] is a tool in my hairdressing toolbox! This is the first color that I have used that will lift dark hair color more than a couple shades. Their entire line is meant for this purpose and this purpose only. You do use 40 volume which leaves the hair in a not so healthy condition. But luckily with the help of [brand:olaplex]  This is a thing of the past. They don’t have a huge Selection to choose from but what they do have rocks. I have used the magenta and red hot Together for an amazing combination.

I colored my hair with L’Oréal excellence hi-color sometime last year and the color was very bright and had hints of pink in it which I didn’t really like. I was looking for a burgundy color and I bought this one based on reviews. Shortly after my hair turned brittle and dry. One day as I washed my hair, my hair started to knot badly and it all intertwined with each other making it impossible to detangle. I used a whole bottle of conditioner and nothing. I then took a scissor and cut off the biggest knot which ended up being about a pound of hair. My hair has never been the same after. My hair just keeps falling out. I went to a specialist and they told me I had alopecia areata. I’ve never had this condition in my life nor does any of my family. I like the whole concept of not having to lighten your hair to get your desired look with this product. It worked great. The color looked beautiful and vibrant. The formula was smooth and creamy, very easy to use. The only con that I have which isn’t really a con but a mistake on my part, once the formula is on the hair closer to the roots or on the roots it changed a lot faster than the rest of the hair. I’m guessing this is due to the heat from the scalp heating up the formula thus making it process faster. Next time when I do try it out I will be sure to put it on the hair first and let that process for a little while before adding the color to the root area. It takes to my hair and allows me to lighten with each color session not to mention the natural sunlight also aids in lightening my locs. My hair shines and feels amazing. I get compliments wherever I go and whenever I post a picture on social media. I won't use any other hair color brand and my stylist knows it. If the soft brown shade isn't available I will pick the next closest shade or go for their honey blonde which on dark hair is absolutely beautiful, a perfect color for lightening for the summer months. I have naturally black hair. Like not even brown, but like black, level 1 hair. So when I say to people that in my heart I was meant to be born a redhead you can understand the raised eyebrows I get. Boxed color has been super hit or miss for me in terms of color consistency or brightness because of the amount of lift I need to get color to stick. Especially finicky color like red. This has been the only ginger color that has EVER worked in my hair and has looked absolutely stunning. It always gives me great results and I am never disappointed.
