I honestly would rather make them homemade from scratch then to just heat up a can of these beans in particular. I would improve this product by adding diced jalapeños and/or onion. I wouldn’t buy again unless I was in dire need.

They came wrapped in plastic but all the cans in the center where all dented. None of the ones you coukd see from outside were dented which means they were intentionally packaging the dented cans. Ridiculous

Growing up in Tucson with its vast array of truly wonderful Mexican restaurants spoiled me. And, having my Mom making genuine Mexican food right there for us every day? Well, we didn't know how lucky we were. I moved away from there to Boston, MA ten years ago. And, suffered from not locating anywhere in the Bay state, good Mexican food. Especially my beans! I fell across La Costena last year at another higher end food store and fell in love wiih the quality of the refried beans. The closest I've ever come to in enjoying beans "out of a can." As I tell my friends, unless someone told you? You would think that "mama" made them. To make a story a little shorter the other fine food store quit carrying La Costena Refried Beans. I despaired of ever eating good beans ... MoreGrowing up in Tucson with its vast array of truly wonderful Mexican restaurants spoiled me. I despaired of ever eating good beans again....until one morning, desperate, I searched and searched online. When I discovered that Walmart carried this line of great Mexican food product I could hardly contain myself. Do yourself a favor...buy some good tortillas, heat some La Costena Refried Pinto beans, in a skillet with a little white wine, mix a little cheese into the beans, and enjoy some of the best bean burritos you'll ever have.

Very sad to report La Costena has changed their recipe for these beans!! They used to be the best canned beans on the planet. UNBELIEVABLE!!Gone are most all of the extra ingredients.......the onions, tomato bits, and bits of jalapeno pepper. Plus the spices and salt has been greatly decreased.A person just as well be eating Bush's brand of bland bland beans anymore. VERY SAD what has happened!!
THE TOP of the can WAS RUSTED. I threw it out. I didn’t see it was part of Walmarts new “if we don’t have it we will ship it” .. try and avoid that at all costs. You have to do “in store” button across top of EACH page to avoid this mess. Nightmare website now.
Let's face it, you love re-fried beans?Me to, and this brand is as close as I have come to a restaurant flavor. This makes boring chips ring.I find myself adding this brand to so many meals simply because it's the go to winner.I load up on this so I don't miss out.
I bought these because they were all out of Rosarita Refried Beans. These are pretty good to have on hand it you don't have time to cook pinto beans from scratch. My girlfriend mixed some smoked ham with them and was raving about how good it was! They are cooked with some mild chilis so they are tastier than plain beans.
Out of 12 cans, 10 cans were badly damage during the delivery because I sincerely hope no on would ship product out this way BUT they did put them in a too large box with 2 pieces of paper. I'm sure the health department would not recommend eating food from these cans.
I have a love/hate relationship with canned refried beans. Another popular brand has a weird spice taste I can't quite put my finger on and virtually 100% of the canned beans I've tried have been grainy. I've hated the texture.BUT THESE BEANS ARE AMAZING. They're absolutely the best brand I've ever had. They're creamy and wonderful with no weird spice taste. All I did was what one previous reviewer suggested and that was to add a little white wine and some cheese. These are so smooth and "splooshy" with a flavor that's just right. The texture is so nice. I'll buy them forever. If you hate canned refried beans for the same reasons I did, TRY THESE BEANS!
This time, I actually got the refried beans instead. I am so grateful for their mistake, because it worked out even better. I can honestly say I have used the whole beans before, and they are great! My ex, who is from Mexico loves them!
