Great shoes, recommend using their sizing chart to establish the best fit. Was a little surprised at the extra cost at customs but that has nothing to do with the shoe. Superior grip and best comfort for my oddly shaped feet. Highly recommended the lace ups. Great product.

Personally I struggled to find a good fit and this one is great (especially at the heal). They’re great with small holds when you need that precision. First couple weeks were painful but they stretch pretty well so don’t get a bigger size .

Great intermediate shoe

I was looking for a slightly more aggressive shoe after climbing in fairly neutral shoes (Finales) for a while. These have been great and I have really noticed a difference in edging with the shoe upgrade. It took me a couple of sessions to adjust to the toe and split sole but now I love them. They’re comfortable enough to keep on for my entire gym session.

I am obsessed

I am thoroughly impressed. I seriously felt like Cinderella the first time I laced these. The shoe is constructed with just enough space in the heel pocket and toe box so you don’t feel pinched, but you can also adjust the tension with the laces to close the gap. So it's a very versatile climbing shoe! For technical slabs or indoor bouldering, I tightened my laces and laced the shoes to the top of the tongue, while for easier pitches I lessened that tension. As someone who’s mostly climbed with velcro shoes, this was a nice change for me. It's easier to climb all day or for longer periods of time when I can choose how tight I want my shoes to be. Plus, our feet swell a bit when we start climbing, and it feels like La Sportiva had that in mind when designing the shoe.I also found these worked really well for me since I have slightly wider feet.Another pro - these were also the easiest pair of shoes I’ve ever broken in. After my first hour of climbing, the leather really molded to my feet. And although I had some red spots, I didn’t get any blisters. I admire how they stitched and glued the shoe, so no matter how much you’re sweating, climbing, or tiptoeing, the shoe isn’t going to dig into your skin.I think these are a great choice for a climber who wants to transition from a neutral shoe to something more moderate and stiff.Pros - comfortable, versatile, easily adjustable, and can perform well for different types of climbing (indoor, bouldering, and sport climbing).Cons - not the best bouldering shoe. It can hold its weight at the climbing gym, but there are better shoes on the market for bouldering.

Katana's are beast

Rebuying these shoes as they are my favourite pair I've worn. Really solid rubber. Wasn't expecting this new generation of katana laces to be so aggressive, however the last pair I had adapted to my foot pretty quickly, so I'm sure these will too.

Not a strong started shoe
11 May 2022

Keeping in mind I'm more of a casual climber: these shoes were difficult for me, to be honest! They will take a good amount of breaking in and getting used to.For me, the curve is uncomfortable. I had to take them off between attempts. The toe is a very noticeable difference from my previous shoes. While I can see this being useful outdoors, in my indoor gym I actually found myself slipping off holds because I just wasn't used to how the shoes sat.I'll admit, too, not feeling comfortable in these shoes made me feel like even more of an amateur, which was discouraging. So basically my review is to try these if you're confident, used to a curve, and going outdoors. And all that said: they look fire. Great design.

Really great shoe

After wearing a hole in my Mythos, I decided it was time for an upgrade. Several friends have these and love them so I decided to give them a try. I ended up going a 1/2 size up from my Mythos, yet somehow they still feel smaller. They feel very aggressive at first, but definitely break in after a few wears. I will say that the heel is what takes the longest amount of time to break in. So far, I am a big fan, and feel like I can smear places I have never been able to smear before.

Size issues.
18 December 2022

I generally wear a 39.5 mens Katana (old model), 39.5 women's solution. 40 TC pro and they all perform great out of the box. I purchased the new women's katana in a 39.5 and they feel super comfortable but a bit clunky. They would be great for all day/all around use but when it comes to honing in on small edges it feels like I'm closing my eyes and praying that my feet don't pop off. This is similar to what my tc pros (40) feel like when I'm edging. I think the new katanas may run a 1/4 to 1/2 size large. A friend of mine had the same experience with the new mens katana and ended up buying a 1/2 size down to compensate and is satisfied. I will be exchanging mine for a size down and will report back.

great all around show
24 July 2022

I bought these shoes about a month ago after my old climbing shoes finally fell apart. I was wearing La Sportive mythos forever, and of course they had molded to my feet. The new mythos changes shape though and were not a good fit. The Katana fit very well and are also a bit more technical and supportive of more challenging climbing in the gym but still comfortable for longer outdoor climbs. I give a 4 instead of a 5 because nothing is perfect! But I look forward to wearing these shoes for a long time to come!

weak laces

Loved these shoes but just about 1 month short of a year of mostly indoor gym climbing and the ends of the laces are falling apart. Making it worse, I made the mistake of pulling them all the way out to attempt repairing them with heat-shrink, but couldn't get them to fit back through the lacing holes. LS charges $15 shipping in addition to $6 replacement laces. Warranty does not include "normal wear and tear", not to mention that I've already attempted to fix/alter them, so that has voided any possible chance. Kinda feel like the lace ends/tips could be a little less flimsy. Didn't feel like I put them through any extraordinary wear.Other than that, surprisingly comfy fit for more aggressive shoe. Great for edging on some of the tiniest crimps/foot holds.
