Over paid for this one. Atlas had it for less on fountain pen day but I didn’t bother to send it back. Will know next time to wait for fountain pen day.Pen is great - lovely color - it’s on the heavier side but I don’t care about weight that much.Writes lovely with feedback on the extra fine nib. The chrome is somewhat slippery but I just hold my pen higher also keeps me from pressing too hard.Paired it with a pink ink from Pelikan - looks great. It’s a good pen but cheaper would have been better.I don’t regret purchase.

The finish on the body of the pen is a little more slick and polished than my other Studio, but it helps to make the lovely color of the pen shine through. The included adaptor went straight to work with the new green ink to match the new green pen. Lamy continues to not dissapoint.

Not my first Lamy pen, but certainly my best! I was really surprised by how natural it feels and how smoothly it writes. It's just the perfect fit for me. The construction is very high quality - as has been the case with all my Lamy pens. The weight makes it feel very solid, but not heavy. The cap snaps on cleanly every time. I was initially concerned that the non-sprung clip would be difficult to use, but it's been great. It has enough give to be useful while still being very sturdy. This is a fantastic workhorse pen.

I love this pen so much. I have safaris, Al- stars a 2k and I love the studio. I really love the color, it's a green/grey with shimmer. It's a great color, it's not black at all. The studio is heavier and feels incredible to hold and write with.
I like my Studios, even with the metal grip sections. I think they are well made and worth the money. With this Studio, though... I decided to do my own version. I swapped the rubber grip section from my Studio in Stainless Steel and put it on the Dark Forest. Then I went to my stash of Lamy nibs and swapped out the silver nib with a black one. NOW, I have the Dark Forest I want. I inked it up with DeAtrementis Document Ink, Dark Red.... I thought the contrast ( or at least the complement of the color wheel) fit the purpose.Finger prints are hard to even see on this pen body. It has a nice sheen to it, the only thing that sort of detracts from it is a strong highlight from the light source ( but you can always play around with the angle of the pen). Using 2, T12 Philips 40 watts Natural Lights (ceiling lights), with the pen just under eye ( at groundlevel )you can get / see that green. And I'm sure different lighting will get different results ( I didn't take it outside in the natural sunlight ). It is a neat pen to experiment with in / under different lighting. Not sure if the photo really reveals enough for the changes I made. The point is. If you have a Studio that has the rubber grip section and any black nibs ( I know others do not like them ), you have options. I don't worry about getting ink on the rubber grip section, I syringe fill all my converters. Yeah, I might be a Dip....but I don't do the dip thing with converters. As usual, the Goulet service is always top notch and helpful with any questions that need to be answered. This is a cool pen without the conversion of the grip section and nib. But I like it even more with my added twist.
This is a very elegant and reliable fountain pen. The color is a deep, dark green that seems to be a chameleon. In some lighting, it appears to be dark green with some subtle sparkle and other times, looks black. The extra fine nib is smooth as silk and performs flawlessly on any paper. The cap snap posts securely without having to worry about it coming off as long as you push it on until you hear it snap like it does when replacing the cap to close the pen. This was quite a challenge to try to find matching ink to use with it because of the color shifting that occurs. I tried Dark Forest and it was close but no cigar and everyone knows that close only counts in horseshoes, darts and hand grenades! I tried Dark Forest and it was close but no cigar and everyone knows that close only counts in horseshoes, darts and hand grenades! However after searching far and wide, I found that The Wet Pen's Gasworks Park ink was an exact match. This ink is a very deep, dark green with a touch of used motor oil black that has the bonus of a slight antique copper sheen to it when it dries.
I really love the look of this pen, the weight and the color. It writes very well and the only thing that I don't like is it is hard to hold. The pen section does not have any type of grip, which lends to the sleekness of the uncapped pen, but it is also very slick and hard to maintain a grip while writing. I find myself having to hold the pen in an awkward grip while writing so that my finger doesn't slip as much. Im still writing with it daily as it is just a beautiful pen, so Im hoping I learn a better, more comfortable grip.
There's definitely a sweet spot for writing with the Lamy Studio. Hopefully, there's nothing wrong with my nib, but it definitively feels a little scratchy/more feedback on the right side compared to the left. When poster, you can hear it wiggle a little bit, but it stays firm on.
The Goulet Pen Company is my go to fountain pen retailer. As an experiment, I purchased four fountain pens from four different (one each) retailers. Goulet provided the best shopping experience and most hassle free shipping and delivery experience of the group. That earned Goulet my business for good. I am very happy I went with this next level fountain pen. So far, I have purchased four LAMY Studio fountain pens - this Black Forest version which is gorgeous (I am gifting to my youngest child because she has actually been to the Black Forest), a black version, a silver version, and the imperial blue version. Each one has a different nib thickness. I short, I love EVERYTHING about these pens and am very happy I didn't have to work through a number of less expensive ... MoreThe Goulet Pen Company is my go to fountain pen retailer. I was pleasantly surprised that the EF nibs have a finer, narrower line compared to the Safari pen. It avoids a screw-on top like most mid-range price pens. It holds ink well, so it quickly transfers ink and writes when taking notes. Overall, it is a great pen and nicely manufactured.
