I was expecting a lot more to this when it came to hydration but I just didn’t get it. It does work great with other hydrating products. This formula is extremely fluid and practically pours like water, so be careful. I think the full size bottle is a bit more forgiving with measuring out the product via a dropper opening. Applying this to my cleansed skin honestly felt incredible. I experienced an intense cooling sensation, which I think was my skin reacting to the exfoliating ingredients in this formula. The formula is a culmination of 2 parts. First, the Clear Active Essence works to exfoliate dead cells on the skin’s surface, and consists of Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, and Organic Beech Bud Extract. Second is the Lipidic Oil Essence - the moisturizing and nourishing part of this dual essence consisting of Grapeseed and Sunflower Seed Oil to help hydrate skin during exfoliation. I enjoyed the cool, invigorating sensation this gave my skin upon application. While I appreciate the purity of the ingredients, the lack of color or fragrance makes this one of the more lackluster offerings from Lancôme. If you value purity over cosmetics, then this essence may be a great fit!

If a product, specially an essence for this amount of money, contains alcohol denat as the SECOND ingredient, that’s a big no no. See, here is the thing. It can look like acne prone and oily skin loves it at the beginning. But on a longer run it is like setting your garden on fire after you poured gasoline on it, thinking it was a clear water. Denature alcohol literally suck all hydration out of your skin leaving it vulnerable and exposed (think irritation, signs of aging, breaking out). For oily skin it is a sign that something is drying it out so it needs to produce more oil which leads back to blackheads and breakouts. Dry skin, well, will be even more dry. Don’t think there is really a reason for alcohol being in skin care because these days there are already healthy and good replacements. You might love this product at first, like I originally did, but please come back after those 3-6 months and give others the updates. I received this product as a free mini sample. I didn’t use it right away and really didn’t know what is was for. Finally I googled the product to see how to use it. I used it 4 days in a row following my face cleanser and when I say my skin was noticeable smoother, dark spots lighter and fine lines less visible I COULD NOT believe it!! I am budget conscious so it took me time to purchase at the price. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Size of this bottle !!! It doesn’t take much for this to work and this $95 bottle will last quit some time :: at least 4-6 months which made the price less painful. I do follow up with the product pictured next to it and the night moisturizer. I wear far less makeup with these 3 LANCÔME products I use everyday.
