If you're looking for a serum that brightens, hydrates, and smooths the skin while addressing signs of aging, this could be a great addition to your skincare routine.

I am a serum junkie I was so excited to give Lancôme Advanced Génifique Serum a try. Its main active ingredient is 10% Bifidus Prebiotic (aka 10 percent bifida ferment lysate.) Plus, it happens to be one of the brand’s top sellers. The serum’s main ingredient is actually what got my attention in the first place as I remember it from when I was doing many more steps- but I do remember I I was beyond impressed with its ability to rapidly fade hyperpigmentation marks and brighten my overall complexion — it was the first time people actually complimented me on my skin. As someone with well-behaved skin, for the most part, I’m still prone to dehydration, hyperpigmentation, and the occasional dull spell or congested pores. As someone with well-behaved skin, for the most part, I’m still prone to dehydration, hyperpigmentation, and the occasional dull spell or congested pores. Breakouts aren’t a major issue for me other than the occasional hormonal party crasher, which usually ends up leaving a dark spot on its way out, regardless of whether I pick or not. I’m not too fussy about retinol or Botox yet, I use both but not religiously. I am on a multi-step program in my skin-care routine. Double-cleansing, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen are always in the mix, but I’ll often go rogue with serums and treatments — I’m 44 trying to keep my skin looking great. Anyway, while in the midst of a meh skin spell, replete with tired-looking skin around my eyes, dull texture, and a couple of post-blemish marks taking their sweet time on the way out, I added the Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum to my morning and evening routine, tucked in between my toner and moisturizer steps. The self-loading dropper makes it easy to dose out each application. The serum itself feels like a silky liquid; it’s quite lightweight, spreads easily, and absorbs quickly — no sticky feeling afterward. I did notice that my skin did feel considerably more quenched right after applying it, though. My eye cream and moisturizer seemed to apply more easily on top of it. (Are serums actually a bit like primers for moisturizer? Perhaps.) After following this routine for a week — seven days, if you want to get specific — I noticed that my skin felt plumper and more hydrated, like it had gone on some wellness retreat without me, returning slightly changed and with a subtle glow up that spoke either of a life of extreme comfort or else a newly acquired secret. My skin suddenly had the smug confidence of someone with a winning hand in poker. I guess it only takes seven days for my skin to develop a superiority complex. If a sense of mystery is attractive in a woman, my skin is basically Carmen Sandiego after using this serum for one week. I understand why Lancôme offers so many size options for this serum on its website. There are five sizes to choose from, in varying price points — I can’t think of any other skin-care brands that would bother divvying up one product into five different size options. The smallest size at 0.67 ounces is $52. The largest size is 3.4 ounces, and that’s $178. So you’ve got options beyond wearing a rotating set of disguises to cop multiple free samples at the Lancôme counter.

So I had to use it every other day or every two days to prevent irritation. I am also not very fond of fragrance/fragrant components in my skin care products. Some can be irritating to the skin or they just don't have a pleasant smell, but the smell of this product was pretty faint. Other than those two things the ingredients in this serum are pretty great, which is why I thought I would like it. I did find that it brightened my skin tone a bit, but that's all it did as far as benefits go, and for the price they are asking I feel like this product should do way more! There is no reason what so ever that this product should cost that much money. It's insane, and it's not the ingredients that cost that much... Bifida ferment lysate is big in K-Beauty and the products that use it are not this expensive. There is one serum I use that has almost all of the good ingredients this product has, and more. It has 88% Bifida Ferment Lysate as the first ingredient on the list, compared to the 10% the Lancome serum has, as the second ingredienton the list, after water (ingredients go from highest % first to lowest % last) plus the other serum has other fermented probiotic ingds. It also has no drying alcohols and no fragrances. It also has copper tripeptide 1, acetyl hexapeptide-8 and other peptides, and a lot of other beneficial and hydrating ingredients. The formulation, texture and the way it goes on and sinks into your skin is much better than the Lancome serum, and the 50ml bottle costs only $18-$25 depending where you buy it. I have seen much better results without the irritation for a fraction of the price of this serum. All that said, I will finish the bottle because I don't like to waste products, but I will not purchase this in the future. If you like this serum and can afford it then great, but if you can't afford it and feel like you are missing out, don't! I suggest you look into some k-beauty products from brands like Isntree, Manyo, Rovectin and many others on the StyleKorean or Stylevana websites... The k-beauty products are amazing quality and the pricing is even better!

I have used Genefique off and on for many years, and I find myself coming back to it again and again. I love skincare, and switch up my routine often because I truly enjoy trying new products, but this serum is just the best I’ve tried! I’m in my mid 40’s, and am often mistaken for being much younger. If I’m out and about with my 25 year old son people tend to assume we are a couple (gross but flattering haha!). I attribute this in large part to my skincare routine and the products that I use. I apply this pretty religiously morning and night, occasionally swapping it out for something new I’m trying, and the difference it makes in the texture of my skin is quite noticeable. It gives a smoothness, softness and almost glassy texture to the skin, but it is not sticky or heavy at all. Radiance is the key word that comes to mind when I think of this product. I love the gel texture of Genefique- it stays in place until fully absorbed, and doesn’t run through my fingers like the more watery serums tend to do. This size bottle has a dispenser button which I LOVE- I know I’m getting the right amount and not over or under applying. I appreciate the packaging, the glass bottle is weighty and the metal lid is quite sturdy. I’ve never noticed any issues with irritation or sensitivity due to using this serum, and overall it is just by go to! I’m a big fan of Lancome in general, their skincare and cosmetics are high quality and luxe without being over the top expensive. This serum is definitely worth the price tag and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stave off the signs of aging!

The Genifique range with this particular serum seems very popular but also somewhat controversial (mostly due to armchair chemists criticising the inclusion of alcohol and/or HEPES), but I've not gone to a Lancome counter in a long time, so I never actually tried it. But I got a few of the tiny 5 ml sample tubes a few months ago and gave it a try. And by giving it a try I mean, I tried Genifique against (side by side, as I find it very telling as far figuring out which product upsets skin the least or what exactly causes me to break out) Estee Lauder's latest ANR Multi-Recovery version, Shiseido's Ultimune Concentrate and then against a very similar product - Biotherm's Life Plankton Elixir (very close to Genifique, not twins nor siblings, but cousins for sure. both ... MoreThe Genifique range with this particular serum seems very popular but also somewhat controversial (mostly due to armchair chemists criticising the inclusion of alcohol and/or HEPES), but I've not gone to a Lancome counter in a long time, so I never actually tried it. And by giving it a try I mean, I tried Genifique against (side by side, as I find it very telling as far figuring out which product upsets skin the least or what exactly causes me to break out) Estee Lauder's latest ANR Multi-Recovery version, Shiseido's Ultimune Concentrate and then against a very similar product - Biotherm's Life Plankton Elixir (very close to Genifique, not twins nor siblings, but cousins for sure. both companies are under L'Oreal umbrella, so it's not surprising). I put one product on one side and the other contender on the other side and then followed with my usual moisturiser on most nights. Results. I didn't exactly expect Genifique to do as well as it did, but surprisingly, it easily outperformed both the Estee Lauder and the Shiseido product from the first night. Against Biotherm, also a bit surprised, Lancome faired well, but Biotherm's version won by a bit. Short summary: I couldn't tell if Shiseido Ultimune actually did anything, good or bad, a couple of weeks on my skin, it didn't do anything for me, so it's kinda a WTF? product for me. Estee Lauder ANR Multi-Recovery is less moisturizing, less brightening/evening out and overall, a lesser product (and I also yearn for the ANR formulas from the 90s and early 00s, over the past 20 years the ANR range seems to have gotten weaker and less impressive somehow.). Biotherm and Lancome won because they both not only plump my skin well and make my pores look less obvious by plumping skin, they are both so effective as lightweight moisturisers that on the hotter summer nights I could just use either and not need anything over them. If I try that with Estee Lauder ANR - it's not enough, skin feels tight and thirsty. That Lancome/Biotherm drench skin in moisture goes without saying. Both Lancome and Biotherm also do seem to provide greater ''ferment benefits'' than ANR, over slightly longer use, they all three soothe and make skin more resilient against outside forces like wind, sun or even drying cleansers and skin ends up getting red less easily, but the L'Oreal version of the Bifida ferment seems superior to the substance or method Estee Lauder uses. Genifique doesn't seem to contribute to clogged pores or breakouts for me, same for Life Plankton. For daytime use, they are quite thin-textured, so Shiseido, Lancome and Biotherm all did not contribute to greasy/oil appearance under my usual sunscreens. Estee Lauder is too greasy for that, at least for my skin. They all provide some antioxidant properties, but it's really not their strong suit, none are anywhere close to more dedicated antioxidant products like Replenix green tea products or ascorbic acid products like Skinceuticals, so if anyone is relying on any of these products as their sole topical antioxidant - I'd probably rethink that choice; there are more options out there that provide more useful antioxidants (contrary to cosmetic marketing, antioxidants aren't even necessary, but if someone wants to invest 100€+ in a product that has antioxidant claims - it makes more sense for it to be a top-of-the-line option and not some mid-tier slacker). I also don't think any of these products or the Genifique, in particular, deserves a warm-hearted recommendation or should be considered ''essential'', they are just nice moisturisers with the added bonus of some mid-tier antioxidants and ferment(s). Nothing wrong with any of that, but nothing in there makes them ''must have'' at least not in a way things like cleansers or sunscreens are the ''essential'' backbone in any sensible routine.

I first discovered this product through a free deluxe sample from Lancôme and SoPost, and I have been using it regularly ever since. I used it daily in the morning and at night according to the instructions, after cleansing and before moisturizing. With frequent use, I felt like this serum definitely delivered results. I took off a star simply because I feel that the price is incredibly expensive. 1 ounce of serum for $78 USD? I know Lancôme is a high end brand, but that’s very steep in my opinion… Thankfully I’m able to find it on sale often, but I would never purchase it at full price.

I also have a friend with sensitive skin who loves it and has found it to be very beneficial! She didn't suffer from any irritations or adverse reactions whatsoever (but she's okay with alcohol... so if your not, I'm not sure if this will be the serum for you)! What I love best about Lancome's Advanced Génifique Serum, is its ability to strengthen skin barrier health and leave you with a beautiful, youthful glow! (A strong skin barrier is the key to maintaining youthful, healthy skin‐ ALWAYS remember that!) and it helps defend your skin against things like pollution, and cold and dry weather. The best part of all?? It makes your skin barrier stronger in just ONE drop! Probably why it's been the go‐to serum for so many for so long!! Now when it comes to the texture, I found it to be just a tad glutinous, but mainly it was luxuriously silky and lightweight! It's like an elegant version of your everyday moisturizing serum, without being too sticky/oily. It goes on smoothly and will quickly absorb into your skin, leaving you with a gorgeous soft, satin finish ( zero tackiness)... just make sure it dries completely before moving on to the next step in your skincare routine! Though I have mixed it right into my makeup for an added glow and it worked flawlessly! Who doesn't love a double‐duty product? Especially one thats already super easy to incorporate into your everyday skin routine! Last but not least the packaging! As we can all see from the photos, it is absolutely gorgeous! But do you know what makes beautiful packaging even better? Functional packaging, and Lancome has given us both; a luxurious glass bottle with a patented dropper that draws up the perfect amount EACH EVERY time! As soon as you lift the cap, the correct amount is ready to be dispensed; just push the button and apply product... that's it, no unnecessary calculations needed! It's high quality and very user friendly! I L♡VE it!! It's safe to say that Lancome Advanced Génifique Face Serum is my new latest obsession. It is truly the most luscious serum I've ever tried. Honestly, everytime I apply it I feel like I'm at my favorite spa, getting a luxurious facial! It's like I'm getting spoiled everyday, which goes beyond my initial expectations. I know it can be pricey, but I think it's well worth it! And I'm all for investing in quality products, especially if they can help me age gracefully! Overall, Lancome Advanced Génifique Serum has definitely lived up to the hype! Its a winner all the way around and I will most definitely be purchasing it again!

While shopping at Macy’s in Boise in 2009, I discovered Lancome’s Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate. I had just moved from Georgia to Montana and just became a licensed esthetician at the time. I was drawn to Lancome’s impressive color cosmetics, as I used them a lot while I lived in Georgia. Intrigued by the brand's skin care products, I decided to try the Advanced Génifique serum as I had only sampled a few skin care items from the brand before. At 28, I tried this Génifique concentrate for the first time and loved it, but found the fragrance a bit overpowering. As I learned, fragrant French skincare is the norm. By my 30s, I grew to appreciate the serum's benefits and the scent began to sort of grow on me. At 28, I tried this Génifique concentrate for the first time and loved it, but found the fragrance a bit overpowering. As I learned, fragrant French skincare is the norm. By my 30s, I grew to appreciate the serum's benefits and the scent began to sort of grow on me. Now in my early 40s, I understand why this Génifique serum is a holy grail in the world of skin care. This serum strengthens the skin's acid mantle in one drop, improving the natural moisture barrier in the process. It also works to lock in hydration and defend against environmental aggressors like pollution, bad weather, and toxins, as well as, DNA distresses. Infused with a Bifidus Prebiotic, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin Cg, this anti-aging serum deeply nourishes the skin, improves dullness, and visibly reduces signs of aging for a glowing complexion. The powerful hydrating properties of the Advanced Génifique serum visibly improves elasticity and fine lines caused by dehydration, which can and will eventually deepen into fine lines and wrinkles. The serum effectively yet efficiently hydrates, plumps, and evens skin tone, rejuvenating the complexion for a more youthful appearance. Although I didn't see results after one week, I noticed significant improvements after one month of using the serum in combination with a healthy skincare regimen and a healthy diet. This powerful concentrate works wonders in correcting, repairing, and protecting the skin, while improving its overall quality without the need for needles or drugs, and without any risks. This product may not be considered "clean" or "organic," nor is it a natural formulation. However, despite this fact, it is indeed powerful and effective. If you are searching for a clean serum, sadly you won’t find this one of interest. Despite not being a natural product, I would highly recommend this serum to anyone who wants to use an amazing anti-aging serum based on its efficacy alone. Additionally, I would also use it again.
