Well let me start by saying that "This is not a manual breast pump." I feel that many are unsatisfied with this product, because they are expecting it to work as a substitute for a manual pump. It is not the same, and is not marketed as such. It's a milk collector. It helps collect your let down from the breast that your baby is not nursing from. So milk that would have been waisted is saved. Now with that being said, " I am not totally satisfied with the product." The suction hurts. More then just a little. I usually have to break the latch as I would if my baby had an improper latch. I do not have sensitive nipples. I'm use to suction. I pump most of the time, because my baby has a lip and tounge tie, so I didn't expect the feeling I got when I attached this ... MoreWell let me start by saying that "This is not a manual breast pump." You can adjust the suction by not squeezing it as hard, but then it won't stick for very long. Their is also the problem of the baby kicking it off. My baby doesn't move much during nursing. She's only 6 weeks old. The smallest touch of her foot will release the suction. I feel like I can't complain to much, because I got mine for free from my local wic office. It does catch my let down which is never really that much, but every drip counts. I save an ounce per feeding on my slacker boob that produces less then the breast my baby prefers nursing from, so that's good for me. An oz at every feeding equals an extra 8 oz a day that I would have other wise lost. My baby is newborn. She only sucks about 3 to 4 oz usually per feeding, so that 8oz is 2 extra feedings for her. Definitely worth the money compared to the haaka since it's cheaper, and in my case mine was free. I guess it does what it's supposed to do if you don't have a haakaa or can't get one as quickly as you may need it. I put this product second behind the haakaa. Only because it's uncomfortable and the suction breaks easily. I hope this review helps someone.

Disappointing, no suction.
14 May 2024

I use the Haakaa breast pump almost exclusively. I forgot them one day, so I purchased two of these. These things do not suction to me at all. I’ve been pumping with the same two haakaas for ten months, I get great output from them and they stick to me just fine. They only start to lose suction as they fill up and even then I can re-suction them and they stay on until they are pretty much full. I can pop them on and chill out not worrying that they’re going to fall off any time soon, and the suction actually makes a difference. But this breast pump doesn’t do that, and it even when it does, it falls off seconds later. When I first purchased these, they wouldn’t suction to my breast at all. I was hoping to use these as backups but they’re absolutely useless.Even at half the price, I regret buying these. I can’t even return them since they’re considered medical equipment. I wish I’d just hand-expressed into a cup or something, it would have been just as effective anyway.

So, i EBF. I leaked a lot so i decided to give it a go, after all the hype around silicon pumps. Boy it did not disappoint me! At first i used it for every feeding, and got at least an oz. I slowly weaned from the daytime feedings and I now aonly use it at night, when i leak the most. The suction was strong and took quite a bit to get used to, but not unbearable for me. It stays on well, unless full, and the strap is a nice addition. I am able to collect about 5 oz every day from night and morning feed. I also use it when baby sleeps longer and i am engorged and so not in the mood to get up and pump. If i attach and massage breast while full, i will easily ger 2 to 3 oz just from that. Also saved me with clogged ducts at least 3x so far when baby slept ... MoreSo, i EBF. I leaked a lot so i decided to give it a go, after all the hype around silicon pumps. My freezer is full of milk, without me even trying the least bit, other than remembering to put it on. Be careful, though, and use with caution, as i feel it can create oversupply.I have been using it for 3 months, since week 2 pp. The leaking almost stopped, but i still collect almost the same amount, if not more sometimes. You definitely do not have to leak to use this product. Just make sure to apply correctly, centering nipple and areola and use breast compression to get the milk flowing. Thanks Lansinoh for this great product!

Good quality
2 November 2024

This is a good quality manual breast pump that feels soft and comfortable on my skin. I've tried another cheaper one and this has better suction and a wider base, making it less likely to fall off or tip over. I've cleaned it and UV sterilised it many times but it has yet to yellow. The lanyard is helpful but it's not foolproof to prevent spills. I had it hung over my neck after expressing, and due to the angle, some milk spilled out. I would recommend this to anyone considering a similar product.

Lansinoh Breastmilk Collector

I received the Lansinoh Breastmilk Collector to review from the Stellar Product Testing Panel.I was surprised when I opened the box to see the Lansinoh Breastmilk Collector also includes a neck strap and a cap for the collector. Both were a nice shade of purple. The strap is adjustable, can be unclasped to remove it from the neck, and also has a swiveling hook clasp that attaches to the collector. While the strap was not itchy on my neck, I found that it got in my way and the hook clasp was difficult to push in to get on and off the collector (the instructions say to remove it every time before washing). The included cap does not say it is for storing milk in the collector; however, when I tilted the collector over for a few seconds with the cap on, I didnt see ... MoreI received the Lansinoh Breastmilk Collector to review from the Stellar Product Testing Panel.I was surprised when I opened the box to see the Lansinoh Breastmilk Collector also includes a neck strap and a cap for the collector. The included cap does not say it is for storing milk in the collector; however, when I tilted the collector over for a few seconds with the cap on, I didnt see any leaks. I also noticed the suction base of the collector fit into the top of the cap.As far as using the Breastmilk Collector, the instructions are basic with no tips on getting a comfortable latch. It took me several tries of going through very painful latches (like turning an electric breast pump on high) and having the collector fall off before I figured out how much to squeeze to get a comfortable latch that didnt fall off. If my baby was calm, the Lansinoh Breastmilk Collector could be used hands free once I got a good latch. However, if my baby was moving, it only took a few wiggles or kicks for the collector to unlatch. When I finally got the Breastmilk Collector latched, then yes it did collect some milk from whichever side I was not feeding on. I also noticed although not intended as a pump that it could be used kind of like a small manual pump. The Breastmilk Collector also has a suction cup base. On my washing machine, the suction was strong enough to lift the lid. However, on my wood table, it only took a good jarring to undo the suction.Despite the difficult and very painful start I had with this Breastmilk Collector (which Lansinoh should include a few tips), I can see how it could be a very useful tool for some. With the right latch, the soft silicone forms more to the breast than plastic flanges from pumps and is light weight. Another positive for me was I didnt have to sit straight up for it to catch milk. The Breastmilk Collector was also easy to clean.

Product name is misleading
7 April 2024

As a first time mum I was looking to buy a portable pump and thought that this pump would be perfect. However I am now seriously disappointed and have had a very painful experience being unable to express enough milk to empty my breasts. I have discovered it isn't a breast pump but a milk collector. The product name is very misleading. I tried using it as a milk collector as I was constantly leaking. While it did collect the milk, I then ended up spilling more of it on my clothes when I removed it.

Im truly impressed with this milk collector. Do not hesitate, buy it now.For reference, I havent had success with these type of collectors in general. Furthermore, my supply has fully regulated (little one is a year old), so I dont experience leaks and didnt expect to get much milk if any with this. While grateful of the opportunity to try this out thanks to Stellar Product Testing Panel, I was also really nervous about how this experiment would go (and the mess I would have to clean up) now that my little one is very curious and grabs everything.Boy was I wrong. The suction of this was so strong that I started to drip without even a letdown (just while I was practicing putting it on). Despite the strong suction it was completely comfortable.I also feel like they thought of everything little extra detail with this to make it as convenient as possible, and these features completely erased my fears of using it. The strap to connect to it gave me so much peace of mind that if the suction came undone (which is really hard to imagine, given how strong it is) or my little one grabbed that the spill would be minimal, if any. Having the measurement scale right on the collector (in ounces and milliliters) is also extremely convenient for bagging the milk up as well. I found it to be very accurate and it removed the extra step of using a measuring cup. I found pouring to be a lot cleaner thanks to the grooved path to pour out of the collector funnel as well. I also like the suction cup on the bottom making it extremely unlikely to tip over, though I found I had to be careful to release the suction before lifting it. Lastly, the included cap is great. I tested it pretty thoroughly, laying the filled collector on its side and even holding it upside down and not a single drop was lost.
