The peanut butter flavour Layered Protein Bar has been my go-to as a protein-rich treat for the past couple of years, and frankly for taste and consistency it surpasses most of the store-bought market brands quite easily! I'm a bit perplexed by the reviews I've read, and while I understand that taste can vary from person to person, I have to say the milk tea flavour is quite unpleasant in my opinion. I accidentally purchased three boxes of 12 bars with the same Milk Tea flavour. Unfortunately, the texture of these bars is nowhere near the quality of Impact Bars. They are hard to chew, and without a cup of coffee on the side, the experience is far from enjoyable, as it feels like you're constantly working your jaw just to take a bite. Additionally, the crispy rice crisps that they've placed on top have all crumbled inside the wrapper, so when you open it, there's a mess everywhere. I won't be making another purchase of these. So, they taste like nothing, there's no discernable peanut butter or chocolate taste... you're just left with a dry mouth whilst chewing a texture. Awful. I got the chocolate fudge box & speculoos (biscoff/lotus) too. Chocolate fudge = slightly better but still weird vague taste 3/10. Speculoos = a lot tastier and are probably the best flavour on offer 6/10. PB = 1/10 a bar of mouth-drying texture absent of any taste. Myprotein please do better on these bars, they're terrible compared to the likes of Bulk's & the Mars protein range. First of all, I love these bars! My favourite is the birthday cake ones (they're so nice and sweet) and, secondly, white gold (so much like a Caramac!). And 25g protein! That's MUCH higher than most competitors! But, now, the negatives... Firstly (and most obviously), they ALL contain palm oil, and there's no label of it being ethically sourced (you would have thought if it was sourced correctly, they'd advertise that, and, as they don't, you must assume it's badly sourced...). Tried to do a subscription for them once - total fiasco! If one flavour was out of stock, yes, you could change it (if you knew), but no-one will tell you... I love the layered bar in the easter egg flavour, it's literally so soft and cakey and has a chocolate sauce layer inside that is dreamy. However, when re-ordering the easter egg ones (they're limited edition so 10/10 recommend getting them while you can), I also ordered the speculoos, white gold and chocolate fudge ones. I'd say none of them really do it for me sadly. The Speculoos one is probably the best of the 3 but it is definitely not as 'Biscoff' flavoured as I'd hoped. It's more cinammon-y than I prefer though so if you like cinnamon you may love them. The texture of the white gold and fudge flavoured ones are just too stodgy and chewy for me compared to the easter egg one. Basically, these are great in the easter egg one, not sure I love the rest.

I stupidly followed reviews of the cake variant, in this case the Vanilla Birthday Cake and its nothing like a cake and typically for a protein bar, very hard until slightly warmed from summer storage. Its a very artificial tasting bar thats imho quite unpleasant. If you think this tastes like a cake you guys need to visit a decent cake shop or learn how to bake! Choc Sundae, Brown Sugar Bubble Tea & Choc Peanut Pretzel are more passable but taste is subjective. Don't do what I did and order a whole box during a promotion, I'm now stuck with 12 of these things. MyProtein doesn't lie calling them 'a pinnacle of protein bars'. These bars are phenomenal! Lately, I prefer them over other popular brands. They have great taste, lovely texture and plenty of flavours to choose from. Can't decide which one is my favourite! A perfect post-workout snack or a sweet treat to go with your coffee. Just pure bliss in your mouth. Highly recommended!
I'm not going to get into the Eddie Abbey debate about "real" food Vs processed food. Sometimes I want something sweet. But I also want to hit my protein for the day. Do I eat these everyday? No. But I always enjoy them when I do. Most protein bars are like eating a brick, really heavy and hard to chew or swallow. These are delicious, you don't even realise you're eating a protein bar.
