This is a fine kettle minus two caveats. The kettle flip poring spout has in the past not stayed open over time. That results in possible steam burns. The second is that the handle “ could” be continued to the backside, making pouring much easier when coming to the end of pouring. The arm is raised much lower if the handle has a position to the back of the handle. Now, I just use a pot holder and it works fine. Just saying if the company cared about making this a better kettle, these could be two improvement areas. For us, even with these suggestions, we still love the kettle. We are just careful when using. The spout still works fine on our new one and the handle, well, we just use a pot holder. There are way more great hints about this kettle than two minor ... MoreThis is a fine kettle minus two caveats. The kettle flip poring spout has in the past not stayed open over time. To preface, I love Threshold products, this was given to me as a gift. As an avid home cook, I was excited and hesitant to try the Threshold Cast Iron Dutch Oven to my kitchen essentials because I haven’t owned any of their kitchen appliances and I’ve heard not so great things about their cookware. Unfortunately, this gift left much to be desired. While cast iron cookware is renowned for its even heat distribution and durability, this particular Dutch oven fell short in several key areas. First and foremost, the cooking performance was deeply disappointing. Despite following recipes and adjusting temperatures accordingly, food consistently burnt far more quickly than anticipated. This resulted in charred meals and a frustrating cooking experience. Whether I was ... MoreTo preface, I love Threshold products, this was given to me as a gift. Whether I was simmering soups or braising meats, I found myself constantly battling with burnt bottoms and uneven cooking. Moreover, the cleaning process was far more laborious than with other cast iron cookware in my collection. Despite my best efforts, stubborn food residue seemed to cling to the surface, requiring excessive scrubbing and soaking to remove. This not only added extra time to my post-cooking routine but also led to concerns about damaging the seasoning of the Dutch oven over time. Overall, while the Threshold Cast Iron Dutch Oven 6qt may initially seem like a budget-friendly option, its subpar performance ultimately makes it a poor investment for serious home cooks. From inconsistent cooking results to difficult cleaning processes, this Dutch oven fails to live up to the standards expected of cast iron cookware. I would strongly advise looking elsewhere for a more reliable and user-friendly option. One last thing that I forgot to mention… The cast iron cracked after 4 uses while I was cooking!! I’ve never had an issue with any of my cast irons breaking so easily. I would never recommend their cooking appliances, however, everything else is amazing!l

I ordered the eight quart oval Dutch Oven in the Sea Salt color and the color is spectacular. I have pieces in Marseille blue and one in Caribbean blue, I think even an oblong ceramic piece from sixty years ago in the original flame color, and more ceramic pieces in white and Marseille, plus two or three round Dutch Ovens and sauciers (also years old, at least forty) in Marseille. I love them all and use them often. I recently bought the new Bread Oven saucier, also in Sea Salt - my new favorite piece and color. All the colors are terrific and work and look well together. Old pieces still look new. Le Creuset lasts forever, cooks and sears beautifully without sticking, cleans easily and doesn’t burn food. What more can you ask from cookware?

I ordered and received the 8qt Le Creuset Dutch Oven. So far, so good. The first time using it was not so good. The lid leaked!! The condensation that was supposed to return to the pot, was dripping all over my stove top.. I tried to reseat the lid several times without success. The burner was on low medium. The liquid in the pot was about 1 and 1/2 cups. I have other lidded Le Creuset and have never had this issue.Well, anyway, I called Le Creuset for advice and to see if they had heard of such a problem. I was informed that the 8 quart Dutch Oven is a QVC product , and they don't even carry the product. No help, no attempt at figuring out why it was leaking. Nope it's a QVC product see ya later. I called QVC and was helped by a very nice lady who helped me with ... MoreI ordered and received the 8qt Le Creuset Dutch Oven. So far, so good. The first time using it was not so good. I made a point of reading all the instructions, even though I'm an experienced cook, because Le Creuset is supposed to be one of the BEST, and I wanted to make sure I used it properly. The very FIRST time I cooked on it, I used a low setting (as suggested) and regardless of the type of food; protein, carb, fat, etc. it stuck to the pan. Not just sticky, wipe off with a sponge, but stuck on- ENGRAINED in the pan itself! I used the pan a few more times just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind, but it is definitely an inferior product. It looks like the coating was sprayed on so thinly, that it makes the pan virtually useless. Someone at Le Creuset thought they would save money by putting on less surface coating to save a few cents and then NOT PAY for the return ... MoreI made a point of reading all the instructions, even though I'm an experienced cook, because Le Creuset is supposed to be one of the BEST, and I wanted to make sure I used it properly. I was excited to buy a new kettle after our one at home finally broke. I ordered one in artichaut, it was on sale, it came quickly and looked beautiful. The first use big chunks of enamel came off the bottom. That day I contacted Le Creuset to see about exchanging this and was told that the enamel coming off was user error, that I either I used an induction stove top on power boost or boiled the kettle dry or put the kettle on without any water. They said that because the issue was user error they would offer 50% off a regular priced kettle (I thought mine on sale). I argue that this is not user error as I do not have an induction stove and I am not an idiot and know how to put water in a kettle and boil it. The kettle was in my home less then 24 hrs when I ... MoreI was excited to buy a new kettle after our one at home finally broke. I argue that this is not user error as I do not have an induction stove and I am not an idiot and know how to put water in a kettle and boil it. The kettle was in my home less then 24 hrs when I contacted them and I have thousands of dollars of their products in my home that I haven't had any issue with using them. I responded that I think they should reconsider the user error and they did replace the kettle but the new one has no warranty which I think is disgraceful of a company charging what they charge for items. Additionally, when looking for advice, I was told by many people in the Le Creuset Canada Facebook group that these kettles rust really easily and many people noted that they would not purchase one again for this reason. Also, I had an issue when they mailed out the replacement kettle. Years ago I purchased a gift for a wedding and had it shipped to the brides. The CSR put the brides name on the order even though the original order had my name on it. The post office wouldn't release the kettle to me at first because of this issue.I would suggest purchasing another kettle from another company (Staub sounds good) or buy the stainless steel one.
First, I'm glad my order arrived undamaged. I ordered the gray to sit out on my black and stainless steel (with cast iron) stove through the winter months. Why would a retiree need an 8 quart Dutch oven? Because I cook for others as well as my husband and myself. Especially at the holidays. This will fit a small turkey, spiral ham, beef prime rib roast, or pork shoulder roast easily; all are meats I make and share at the holidays. My purpose in purchasing was to replace a large, very old roasting pan lost when we moved for retirement; I've been using a cheap one with brown-n-bags and results aren't the same. With care, this should last me the rest of my life.
I bought my Round Wide Oven in the the color Merseille, a gorgeous blue. It arrived in perfect shape, and I am in love. This piece is as wide as a 9 quart Dutch oven, but with shorter sides, which is the best of both worlds to me. This means lots of surface area at the bottom for browning, but the sides are short enough for comfortable stirring and easy transfer to the oven or table for serving. The lower sides also make the lid more visible when the pot is on the stove top - an unexpected bonus. This pot is wonderful for braising, sauteeing, stews, casseroles, one pot meals and so much more. I just made Coq au Riesling, and it was a huge hit. I served it straight from the pot, with a large cutting board underneath to protect the table. What an easy way to create a beautiful dinner presentation, and a functional one too as the lid keeps the food hot longer. Clean up was easy - warm, soapy water and a gentle sponge. I am so thrilled with this pot!
My mother bought her first Le Creuset in Paris nearly 60 years ago and I was raised with them. I love my own Le Creuset cookware - its quality and function have always been a benchmark. My wife wanted a new kettle for her birthday - something colorful. Naturally a Le Creuset was the choice. She was so excited to open it on her birthday morning and make her morning tea. Then we saw the stickers. The awful, tenaciously-attached, paper, delaminating stickers - on the lid, the side and underside of the kettle. My heat gun was not present, so we did our best with a hair dryer. And again when the sticker stuck to the counter edge where I temporarily placed it while I used some solvent to get the residue off the kettle bottom.Le Creuset - do better. Thousands of manufacturers with much less of a pedigree than your own make stickers that pop off cleanly without tearing or leaving such a mess. And in the meantime sell this adhesive to NASA for use on a shuttle nose cone.
We're a family of two and I thought this size vessel was "not needed" or an "extravagance". We deserve a pot so beautifully constructed and just makes some kitchen tasks easier. The extra surface area makes browning meat more efficient and a more delicious meal. The extra surface area makes sauteing vegetables better for a more delicious soup.My most recent meal was all in the 8-quart. I made croutons from sourdough, then roasted fresh tomatoes for homemade soup, softened onions, carrots and celery for the soup base and then simmered it all for a spectacular cream of tomato soupIt's not too big, you'll use it and appreciate it. Your worth it!
