You can prepare dishes for 4 to 5 people in the Le Creuset Oval Dutch Oven 29cm Flame. It's the ideal pan for dinner with friends or for a family. Thanks to the oval shape, you can easily stew elongated pieces of meat, such as pork tenderloin or chuck roast. The pan is made of enameled cast iron. The heat conduction is very good and the inside is smooth, so that ingredients don't stick to the pan. Cast iron is also a durable material. If you maintain the Dutch oven properly, it will last for years and maybe even generations. Thanks to the even heat build-up and distribution, the pan is very suitable for stews. You can make a vegetable stew or slowly cook a whole chicken in beer, for example.

I received a 7 quart Le Creuset Round French Oven in the Marseille (blue) color over a decade ago as a Christmas present from my husband. It replaced a well-used 5 quart Lodge dutch oven with cracking and chipping enamel. Back then this piece cost over $350. I shudder to think what it costs now. This Le Creuset Dutch Oven is very large which means that it is pretty heavy when it is full. That is definitely something to keep in mind. I thought that I wanted to go bigger but I am very glad that I did not. Both the pot and lid are stovetop, oven, and dishwasher safe though the rubber handle on the top of the lid is safe only up to 350 F. I've used this cooking vessel a couple of times a week for years now and it is still in just as great shape as it was the day I ... MoreI received a 7 quart Le Creuset Round French Oven in the Marseille (blue) color over a decade ago as a Christmas present from my husband. I use this French (aka Dutch) Oven for soups, stews, pot roast, chili, Sunday gravy, etc. It is an absolute workhorse that holds heat well and distributes it evenly. The only thing that I do not use it for is for baking bread. I suspect that is what caused the enamel to chip and crack on the Lodge dutch oven that I had. I use a plain (and much less expensive) unenameled cast iron Lodge round oven for that purpose. The Le Creuset model is also pretty enough to put directly on the table to allow others to serve themselves. I also keep it out on the stovetop when it is clean and not in use because, well, it is gorgeous and also to help save space in the cabinets. I highly recommend it. It is expensive but it will last a lifetime and beyond.

This I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. That comes with a price though hence one star off...they are expensive! But back to the product... the first tip I have, is to go for a darker shade rather than a lighter shade, as they can gather tiny little splat marks over the years. Easy to clean regardless of colour but darker in hindsight would be my choice. If taking one of the trend colours these seem to exist for ca. two - three years so stock up accessories in matching shade whilst you ... MoreThis I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. I had the same pot instead an older model for over 8 years. I only use that to make soup or stew. Never over boiled or burn without liquid in the pot. I made the first “life time warranty” claim because the vegetables and meat were staring to burn and stick under the pot . They said it was cause by overheating! How?! So I spent thousand dollar to buy a whole set and none of them will cover by the warranty?! Lesson learned.

I love my new Dutch oven! The size is perfect. It's big but I love making enough food to have lots of leftovers for freezing. I haven't tried making bread in it yet ( on my to do list :)) but this size will produce a beautiful loaf. Fantastic quality and such a lovely, solid piece that I plan on displaying rather than hiding it away. Shipping was super fast and so well packaged. I love this store and will definitely order again!!
Lovely colour and the right size for my hob. It cooks well, but rather slowly. So, if you plan to buy one and never used such an item before, keep in mind that you will have to wait a longer time for your food to be cooked. It needs a low/medium heat so as not to damage the enamel inside. This type of casserole cooks in the oven at any temperature at low/medium heat as well. It also bakes bread nicely. The casserole will indeed last a lifetime as long one takes care of it.
It?s spectacular. I?ve used it for soups, chili and plan to make Christmas prime rib in it this year. The first time I used it, I made lentil soup. I noticed the inside enamel finish looked dull at the bottom and thought it was ruined or defective, but I splashed a little white vinegar in it and wiped it out. It was shiny again. I guess some foods can leave a residue in it. So I always wipe it with vinegar and rinse it and it looks pristine again.
The best thing about my Le Creuset Dutch Oven in Nutmeg is it is GORGEOUS!! The finish is warm with lovely modern cool tones. Of course the main reason I purchased this piece is for the functionality. You certainly get what you pay for. The enamel finish cleans up beautifully and the cast iron distributes the heat evenly throughout the cooking process, retaining heat perfectly throughout. The weight is solid but not so heavy that it makes using/cleaning it a chore. In fact, this is the first piece I reach for with most my dishes!! So happy with my purchase, and already planning on purchasing the braiser as soon as it goes on sale! Thank you, Sur La Table for the great purchase and the excellent customer service!!
Such a big ticket item for a pot, it took me 5 years of saying ?you don?t really ?need? this to, ?You do bake a lot of artisanal breads and this would be perfect size for that and a whole lot more?. I call it my one pot wonder. The color is lovely and the piece is heirloom quality. Perfect size for stock and bread baking; also found deep enough to sous vide a couple tenderloin steaks! Elevates any dish cooked in it.
My parents loved to cook, so I thought getting them a Dutch oven would be the perfect gift. They absolutely loved it. The even cooking surface allowed them to perfect their signature dishes and try dishes that normally don’t work out for them. It’s definitely a heavy piece of cookware(of course it’s cast iron), but we expected that. They are always thinking about getting one in a different size. We bought the 6.7 L which is perfect to cook meals for my big family.
It took two tries to finally receive my item. Love the French grey color and the width. Was given this as a Christmas gift and it came four weeks late after saying it would come on 12/17. When it arrived, in a large half opened box, the side was cracked all the way through and a big chunk of the enamel on the outside was missing(didn't even know thiswas possible). Had to take it back to the store, came home and was ordered another by the gift giver. Came in a week but said it was delivered and it was not. Had to scour the neighborhood and finally found it at a condo complex in the neighborhood. The Le Crueset box on the inside was all chewed up but the product seems fine. I am not sure I would order anything of value from WS again as they seem to have shipping ... MoreIt took two tries to finally receive my item. Love the French grey color and the width. Big disappointment for my kids not to have a gift for me on Christmas but even bigger disappointment to go through the hassle of dragging the item around.
