Le Creusets reputation as the best maker of cast iron casseroles is very welldeserved in my opinion. This is my third purchase of a similar item, one given as a gift. My oldest Le Creuset, very similar to this one, is over fifteen years old and despite quite regular use is as effective and useful as ever with some expected slight discolouring that doesnt detract from its performance. The Le Creuset casseroles as easy to use, whether on the hob or in the oven. Just as importantly, they are extremely easy to clean. Ive cooked lots of different things, Ive occasionally overcooked things that have stuck a little, but every time the casserole is easily cleaned. I find that the heat distribution is excellent as well, for consistent and even cooking. I like how over the years the handle on the lid has changed to become metal, which should make it harder to break. I did once drop a lid and break a bit off the handle, but this should not be an issue with this latest Le Creuset casserole.A slight issue is that the listing at the time of writing lists the capacity at 8.4 litres, whereas the label on the box states 8.1 litres. A small difference but perhaps something to be aware of.

It sits on the stove like a warm red glowing invitation to cook up something delicious. So I did just that immediately! Such a yummy pot of browned rich gravied casserole all cooked perfectly at once and made so easy in one pot. Then we ate from it and then I would have put the pot’s leftovers into the fridge but there were none! The pot was so easy to clean. Nothing stuck on it and it was into the dishwasher with it and then straight back onto my stovetop to sit and wait until my next delicious venture with it. So bright and beautiful to look at and so incredibly easy and fail proof to use-beginning to end. A delightful pot to serve from as well. I now aim to buy a skillet style next. It is a gourmet’s delight or an everyday wonder.Anne 🤸🏾‍♀️😀

This I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. That comes with a price though hence one star off...they are expensive! But back to the product... the first tip I have, is to go for a darker shade rather than a lighter shade, as they can gather tiny little splat marks over the years. Easy to clean regardless of colour but darker in hindsight would be my choice. Great Cooking Vessel

Thoroughly enjoy LeCreuset cookware. Would’ve been extremely nice learning about them much sooner in life, no doubt. Nonetheless, utilize the cookware as often as possible. Created what I’m calling a Chicken Stumbo the other night which turned out beyond expectation in this vessel. A great mandolin makes a world of difference. Wanted au gratin cut potatoes with chicken straight out the oven, but with no roasted or pan stuck potatoes. Mixed two cans Campbell’s Cream of Celery with tomato sauce containing basil, garlic and oregano. Added sour cream, two soup cans of water, chopped onions, celery, bell pepper, shallots, portobello mushrooms, Pico de Gallo, fresh garlic, cilantro, Goya seasoning, S&P, and filet gumbo all nicely whisked together. Loaded in the five freshly cut potatoes with five skinless/boneless chicken pieces. Covered and baked 90 mins at 375F, stirring once every 30 minutes. As it cooked, the house smelled indescribably delicious. Voila! Once finished, it smelled more incredible; looking and tasting like a stewed gumbo…absolutely delish…without the traditional artery clogging roux. Everything was perfectly cooked fork tender and juicy. Allelu!!!

I got the 28cm. It’s a good size for cooking family meals BUT its too big to wash in the sink. And it’s quite heavy, once it’s full of food it’s almost too heavy to put in the fridge. (Worried the plastic shelves may break). It’s a big adjustment going from cooking in non stick to this. This requires some new cooking techniques and you have to learn how to use it properly.

I was always in love with Le Creuset because of the the quality. Yes, its expensive, but as my mother always said I am not wealthy enough to buy cheap. Le Creuset is an investment for life. I am not only a hardcore foodie travelling around the world to eat at the most exciting restaurants, I also work with top chefs as their international PR my clients are worldwide. I liked the fact that it can be used for both and that it has an amazing heat distribution, is durable and beautiful. But then a month ago I started also baking my own bread. And this one is an ideal piece for great results. When my daughter moves on her own, this will be the gift she will receive for me. This says it all

We have a large iron casserole pan made by Chasseur had it years and it is very good. So when needing a smaller one, we went for the same brand sadly, what was sent had a mattblack finish on the inside, not nearly as good as the enameled finish on our original Chasseur. The Chasseur went back and we ordered this Le Creuset instead. Now, Im sure you pay something for the name and it was nearly twice as expensive as the Chasseur but the quality is very good indeed. The exterior finish ours is Marseille Blue is very well applied with attractive colour variation. But more important is the smooth interior enamel, as this makes it so easy to clean. So, despite the price, we are very pleased with this pan and it works very well slow cook stew or bread, both equally good. ... MoreWe have a large iron casserole pan made by Chasseur had it years and it is very good. So glad I treated myself......!!!

I have waited a long time to start my own Le Creuset collection. I love to cook, and I've always heard such great things about the Le Creuset brand. However, they are quite pricey! I finally decided to splurge on the 5.5 Round Dutch Oven - and I am so glad I did! I've made stuffed peppers, marinara sauce and a pot of soup so far. It warms up quickly and cooks so evenly - its amazing. On top of everything, clean-up is a joy. It just wipes clean. I purchased the Meringue color and it is gorgeous! My biggest decision now is whether to collect all the same color - or mix them up! Either way, my collection will definitely be growing.

This has been a fantastic user friendly pot right from the word go. It’s amazingly simple to clean after each use and it’s quality feels second to none. LeCreuset’s website also gives many awesome, tasty and simple to follow recipe ideas.Would highly rate this product as a lifelong investment to continually cook great tasting food easily. An entertainers dream product!

Worth every penny

I got one of these as a wedding gift almost 20 years ago from a John Lewis wedding gift list service. Although the price seems a lot for a casserole dish, the quality of these pots is incredible and only eclipsed by the amazing customer support I have received from Le Creuset. After being used almost daily for so many years we noticed some of the enamel was wearing away inside the pot. I emailed the Le Creuset UK helpline and attached photos of the pot. They were incredibly helpful and offered to send out a free replacement which arrived a few days later. TBH I thought 20 years of service was a good innings but Le Creuset really mean it when they guarantee these things for life.
