We have a large iron casserole pan made by Chasseur had it years and it is very good. So when needing a smaller one, we went for the same brand sadly, what was sent had a mattblack finish on the inside, not nearly as good as the enameled finish on our original Chasseur. The Chasseur went back and we ordered this Le Creuset instead. Now, Im sure you pay something for the name and it was nearly twice as expensive as the Chasseur but the quality is very good indeed. The exterior finish ours is Marseille Blue is very well applied with attractive colour variation. But more important is the smooth interior enamel, as this makes it so easy to clean. So, despite the price, we are very pleased with this pan and it works very well slow cook stew or bread, both equally good. ... MoreWe have a large iron casserole pan made by Chasseur had it years and it is very good. There are numerous imitators of Le Creuset that in general do a decent job, but none can truly match the real thing. The heat distribution, the control, etc, are beyond reproach. Yes, you pay for this in terms of cost, but a LC casserole dish, properly cared for, will last a lifetime and beyond. The one snag is the weight. LC products are robust, but very heavy. This becomes a big problem with the larger casseroles, which weigh a ton when empty, and when full, may be at the limit of what some people can manage to lift and manouevre. If you are frail, have arthritis or similar, I would strongly suggest handling the item in a shop first to see if you will be able to lift it safely.

Le Creusets reputation as the best maker of cast iron casseroles is very welldeserved in my opinion. This is my third purchase of a similar item, one given as a gift. My oldest Le Creuset, very similar to this one, is over fifteen years old and despite quite regular use is as effective and useful as ever with some expected slight discolouring that doesnt detract from its performance. The Le Creuset casseroles as easy to use, whether on the hob or in the oven. Just as importantly, they are extremely easy to clean. Ive cooked lots of different things, Ive occasionally overcooked things that have stuck a little, but every time the casserole is easily cleaned. I find that the heat distribution is excellent as well, for consistent and even cooking. Id highly recommend ... MoreLe Creusets reputation as the best maker of cast iron casseroles is very welldeserved in my opinion. This is my third purchase of a similar item, one given as a gift. I like how over the years the handle on the lid has changed to become metal, which should make it harder to break. I did once drop a lid and break a bit off the handle, but this should not be an issue with this latest Le Creuset casserole.A slight issue is that the listing at the time of writing lists the capacity at 8.4 litres, whereas the label on the box states 8.1 litres. A small difference but perhaps something to be aware of.

This I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. That comes with a price though hence one star off...they are expensive! But back to the product... the first tip I have, is to go for a darker shade rather than a lighter shade, as they can gather tiny little splat marks over the years. Easy to clean regardless of colour but darker in hindsight would be my choice. If taking one of the trend colours these seem to exist for ca. two - three years so stock up accessories in matching shade whilst you ... MoreThis I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. Le Creuset 20cm enamelled cast iron frypan in beautiful Marseille blue. Perfect gift for myself for small quantity frying. Great gift to give anyone. Size advantage for quicker heat, cook, clean up, and a lighter weight for handling smaller quantities, which is easier for those with arthritis or lower hand/wrist strength. Side spouts make pouring off juices, or sauces controlled and easy. Cooks beautifully in it on all types of stove tops and in the oven. I add the matching blue Le Creuset silicone handle cover for comfort and safety. Cooks perfectly using gentle heat to medium heat (never high heat -not needed and damages your frypan). A little veg. oil or oil & butter, for non stick. Cast iron retains heat a long time off heat, keeping your food warm for serving ... MoreLe Creuset 20cm enamelled cast iron frypan in beautiful Marseille blue. I was always in love with Le Creuset because of the the quality. Yes, its expensive, but as my mother always said I am not wealthy enough to buy cheap. Le Creuset is an investment for life. I am not only a hardcore foodie travelling around the world to eat at the most exciting restaurants, I also work with top chefs as their international PR my clients are worldwide. So food means a lot to me I bought this piece for cooking on a stove and in the oven. I liked the fact that it can be used for both and that it has an amazing heat distribution, is durable and beautiful. But then a month ago I started also baking my own bread. I got obsessed with bread making it relaxes and it is very rewarding when you see your results and one of the reasons my results are so good, is this casserole You need to keep the humidity in the bread when baking, and a very high heath. And this one is an ideal piece for great results. When my daughter moves on her own, this will be the gift she will receive for me. This says it all
You pay a high price for Le Crueset but it is arguably the best cast iron cookware you can buy and pass on in your Will! This skillet is perfect when cooking for one and luckily for me, came on sale in my favourite colour. I have ordered through Myer online before and found them to be efficient. Given that it was a busy time of the year, it arrived in a fairly timely manner and saved me the hassle of battling a busy shopping centre carrying a relatively heavy object.
We love a good frying pan in our household, so splashed out to buy this for my husband for Father's Day. I bought it online, and am really disappointed. The handle is so short, and heats up so that you need a teatowel or glove to pick it up, and it's still top-heavy because of the short handle. I stupidly assumed it would be non-stick... nope. There's little that we can cook in it that doesn't require plenty of scrubbing to get it clean again. Not worth the money.
The pandemic was at its peak. I had a few hundred dollars saved. I was cooking at a previously unprecedented volume. The lure of the Le Creuset pot was too much to bear. After a horrifying moment of adrenaline at having spent so much money on a kitchen item, I can tell you: it’s a ripper and you should get one. These pots are such a delightful merging of function and form. Cooking with them feels good. Wholesome, somehow. Romantic, even. This size is perfect when you’re cooking for two people (if you’re cooking for four, or want leftovers, get a 26 cm version). Goes in the oven at blistering temperatures thanks to the steel knob. Cleans remarkably easily. Makes you feel like you have your life together. Do it.
I got one of these as a wedding gift almost 20 years ago from a John Lewis wedding gift list service. Although the price seems a lot for a casserole dish, the quality of these pots is incredible and only eclipsed by the amazing customer support I have received from Le Creuset. After being used almost daily for so many years we noticed some of the enamel was wearing away inside the pot. I emailed the Le Creuset UK helpline and attached photos of the pot. They were incredibly helpful and offered to send out a free replacement which arrived a few days later. TBH I thought 20 years of service was a good innings but Le Creuset really mean it when they guarantee these things for life.
