It sits on the stove like a warm red glowing invitation to cook up something delicious. So I did just that immediately! Such a yummy pot of browned rich gravied casserole all cooked perfectly at once and made so easy in one pot. Then we ate from it and then I would have put the pot’s leftovers into the fridge but there were none! The pot was so easy to clean. Nothing stuck on it and it was into the dishwasher with it and then straight back onto my stovetop to sit and wait until my next delicious venture with it. So bright and beautiful to look at and so incredibly easy and fail proof to use-beginning to end. A delightful pot to serve from as well. I now aim to buy a skillet style next. It is a gourmet’s delight or an everyday wonder.Anne 🤸🏾♀️😀

This I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. That comes with a price though hence one star off...they are expensive! But back to the product... the first tip I have, is to go for a darker shade rather than a lighter shade, as they can gather tiny little splat marks over the years. Easy to clean regardless of colour but darker in hindsight would be my choice. If taking one of the trend colours these seem to exist for ca. two - three years so stock up accessories in matching shade whilst you ... I bought this pot to bake artisan sour dough bread, but I find that I’m using it for everything! First of all, it’s beautiful! The oyster grey is so pretty with my decor that I leave it on my stove top because it adds a homey touch and the size is quite versatile. As I said, it’s perfect for baking artisan bread and I’ve been making sauces with the summer’s harvest. If you’ve not invested in a La Creuset, do consider it. These vessels will be around for your grandchildren! They’re wonderfully made! Yes they’re heavy- but that’s why you are able to cook at low temperatures! Others have expressed difficulty in cleaning them- I don’t. If something is cooked on, I soak it with dish soap or soda and it comes clean. I have really enjoyed my pot. I have several of them in ... I bought this item in the store but it had to be shipped, so I was not able to really see the color. I was so excited when it arrived, but upon openingthe box, the oyster color was not what I was expecting. Since I needed it for a dinner I was preparing for the weekend, I went ahead and used it. The Dutch oven’s performance is exceptional however, I have only used it that one time due to the color. I specifically told the women who was working with me that I did not want the dull grey pot with the dull darker grey bleeding into the dull grey lid. She went into the back, came back to me and said that the oyster was more of a soft grey with no bleeding of color. Of all the colors this Dutch oven comes in, the oyster color is dull and lifeless. This was such a disappointing purchase for me. I purchased it mainly to make arroz con gandules and after the first use the stains from the color of the rice would not come off. It looked as if I didn’t clean it no matter how much I tried so felt uncomfortable returning as it was hard to explain why the food coloring wouldn’t come off. Tried to use agin with the staining and now the outside of the rice turned black as that black from the pot is coming off onto the food. Never thought I’d have to throw a cast iron pot like this away. I thought a purchase like this would last for years. Not sure if I just got a defective one but disappointing now the less.
Le Creusets reputation as the best maker of cast iron casseroles is very welldeserved in my opinion. This is my third purchase of a similar item, one given as a gift. My oldest Le Creuset, very similar to this one, is over fifteen years old and despite quite regular use is as effective and useful as ever with some expected slight discolouring that doesnt detract from its performance. The Le Creuset casseroles as easy to use, whether on the hob or in the oven. Just as importantly, they are extremely easy to clean. Ive cooked lots of different things, Ive occasionally overcooked things that have stuck a little, but every time the casserole is easily cleaned. I find that the heat distribution is excellent as well, for consistent and even cooking. Id highly recommend ... Ive cooked lots of different things, Ive occasionally overcooked things that have stuck a little, but every time the casserole is easily cleaned. I find that the heat distribution is excellent as well, for consistent and even cooking. Id highly recommend that anyone buys one of these as itll probably last you decades. I like how over the years the handle on the lid has changed to become metal, which should make it harder to break. I did once drop a lid and break a bit off the handle, but this should not be an issue with this latest Le Creuset casserole.A slight issue is that the listing at the time of writing lists the capacity at 8.4 litres, whereas the label on the box states 8.1 litres. A small difference but perhaps something to be aware of.
I have my Le Creuset dutch oven for almost 30 years. It is my go-to for soups, roasts, large pots of sauces, even pork chops with apples. It is sturdy, easy cleans, and cooks evenly and perfectly every time. Plus, the colors are beautiful. It looks great on the stove while cooking and to the table for serving, and can be transferred to the oven when needed.
I have waited a long time to start my own Le Creuset collection. I love to cook, and I've always heard such great things about the Le Creuset brand. However, they are quite pricey! I finally decided to splurge on the 5.5 Round Dutch Oven - and I am so glad I did! I've made stuffed peppers, marinara sauce and a pot of soup so far. It warms up quickly and cooks so evenly - its amazing. On top of everything, clean-up is a joy. It just wipes clean. I purchased the Meringue color and it is gorgeous! My biggest decision now is whether to collect all the same color - or mix them up! Either way, my collection will definitely be growing.
Such a big ticket item for a pot, it took me 5 years of saying ?you don?t really ?need? this to, ?You do bake a lot of artisanal breads and this would be perfect size for that and a whole lot more?. I call it my one pot wonder. The color is lovely and the piece is heirloom quality. Perfect size for stock and bread baking; also found deep enough to sous vide a couple tenderloin steaks! Elevates any dish cooked in it.
I got one of these as a wedding gift almost 20 years ago from a John Lewis wedding gift list service. Although the price seems a lot for a casserole dish, the quality of these pots is incredible and only eclipsed by the amazing customer support I have received from Le Creuset. After being used almost daily for so many years we noticed some of the enamel was wearing away inside the pot. I emailed the Le Creuset UK helpline and attached photos of the pot. They were incredibly helpful and offered to send out a free replacement which arrived a few days later. TBH I thought 20 years of service was a good innings but Le Creuset really mean it when they guarantee these things for life.
