The Dutch Oven's design yields moist, tender results for slow-simmered soups and stews. This versatile kitchen staple can be used for more than just comfort foods experiment with no-knead bread or even use it to bake a cake! This high-quality pot is also commonly referred to as a Casserole or Dutch Oven. The latter term was widely adopted after the Dutch became famous for producing and exporting cookware in the 1700s. Le Creuset Enamelled Cast Iron cookware has been the world's quality benchmark for almost a century. Each piece is cast individually in sand molds and hand inspected by French artisans. The iconic cookware is beloved for both its chip-resistant enamel exterior, its tight fitting lid and superior heat retention that locks in flavour and keeps food moist and tender.

This I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. That comes with a price though hence one star off...they are expensive! But back to the product... the first tip I have, is to go for a darker shade rather than a lighter shade, as they can gather tiny little splat marks over the years. Easy to clean regardless of colour but darker in hindsight would be my choice. If taking one of the trend colours these seem to exist for ca. two - three years so stock up accessories in matching shade whilst you ... MoreThis I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. I recently purchased a brand new Le Creuset pot to go on our new induction stove. Despite the fact that the Le Creuset website clearly states that their enameled pots can be used on induction, the pot has scratched the glass top of our brand new stove HORRIBLY. Beware when using these products on a glass cook surface. We have owned many Le Creuset products over the years including cast iron enamel and stoneware and have never had these issues in the past. I don't know what has changed with the make of the product, or if this was a one time defect, but we are very upset.

I bought this item in the store but it had to be shipped, so I was not able to really see the color. I was so excited when it arrived, but upon openingthe box, the oyster color was not what I was expecting. Since I needed it for a dinner I was preparing for the weekend, I went ahead and used it. The Dutch oven’s performance is exceptional however, I have only used it that one time due to the color. I specifically told the women who was working with me that I did not want the dull grey pot with the dull darker grey bleeding into the dull grey lid. She went into the back, came back to me and said that the oyster was more of a soft grey with no bleeding of color. Of all the colors this Dutch oven comes in, the oyster color is dull and lifeless. Really Great Casserole
5 May 2023

I have two other Le Creuset casseroles, one slightly larger and the other the same size, which we had as a wedding present 37 years ago, and so needed replacing. This one is the perfect size for four people and fits perfectly into the AGA; its really useful being able to fry the ingredients and then cook them in the same pan on top or inside the AGA but before I had a gas cooker and used it worked equally well with that. The pan is smart looking, so you can serve the food at the table from the dish.

So glad I treated myself......!!!
26 April 2022

I have waited a long time to start my own Le Creuset collection. I love to cook, and I've always heard such great things about the Le Creuset brand. However, they are quite pricey! I finally decided to splurge on the 5.5 Round Dutch Oven - and I am so glad I did! I've made stuffed peppers, marinara sauce and a pot of soup so far. It warms up quickly and cooks so evenly - its amazing. On top of everything, clean-up is a joy. It just wipes clean. I purchased the Meringue color and it is gorgeous! My biggest decision now is whether to collect all the same color - or mix them up! Either way, my collection will definitely be growing.

Very large great pot, Terrible WS Shipping/Packing
6 July 2023

The pot is wonderful. Very big. Nice weight, beautiful finish. The yellow is much nicer in person. Full cooking surface for a wide range of foods. Will be a nice addition to our collection. The reason for losing a star was due to the shipping. Both pots ordered were put in a larger outer box with no padding. The result was both of our Le Creuset boxes (the orange ones that we use to store when not in use) were badly crushed. This is very unlike WS in regards to shipping. They usually wrap each box in bubble wrap, and then put in a large outer box with no damage. The outer box was way too large, and the top of it was completely crushed in, causing damage to both Le Creuset boxes. When I called WS, they said i could return (one of the pots was no longer available) or ... MoreThe pot is wonderful. Very big. Nice weight, beautiful finish. The yellow is much nicer in person. I took the credit and called Le Creuset, and they said there was nothing they could do.Very disappointing experience. Not used to this from WS.

Waited 5 years before gifting this to myself for Christmas!
3 January 2023

Such a big ticket item for a pot, it took me 5 years of saying ?you don?t really ?need? this to, ?You do bake a lot of artisanal breads and this would be perfect size for that and a whole lot more?. I call it my one pot wonder. The color is lovely and the piece is heirloom quality. Perfect size for stock and bread baking; also found deep enough to sous vide a couple tenderloin steaks! Elevates any dish cooked in it.

Waited Five Years
24 November 2021

Don't be like me and wait five years to spend the money on this amazing piece - just do it. I've gotten so much joy out of making my own bread, experimenting with new recipes, making soups and stews where the individual ingredients actually stand out because the pot cooked them so well. Also, don't be like me and burn your pot.....yeah.... I burnt the pot. If you do, just fill the pot with water and add baking soda. Let simmer for 8 to 10 minutes - she'll be brand new again. I bought the 7 1\4 quart size oven in Nectar from my local Williams Sonoma store. The yellow is gorgeous and was a big factor in my decision to buy. I don't recall seeing it before now? Wish they had the 9 1\2 quart size in that color. Totally worth the money and a lovely experience in using it.

Why didn’t I buy this years ago?
26 September 2023

I wish I had bought this Dutch oven first. Cleans like a dream, stove to oven with no issue at all. The weight was a big factor in my decision to purchase. I had a staub Dutch oven that was just too heavy to lift. This is heavy, but about 6 pounds lighter than my old staub Dutch oven and far easier to clean. From this Dutch oven’s performance, I am looking at smaller Dutch ovens to handle daily cooking (only my husband and I). Love this and wish I had purchased years ago. You cannot go wrong with this Le Crueset Dutch oven.

this used to be my favorite cast iron brand
13 October 2021

I own quite a number of Staub and Le Creuset because I love the different sizes that are good for different uses. I have been taking care of these pots for a decade and do not usually have problems with them. However, I had a problem with a Le Creuset enameled cast iron round oven as the lid keeps rusting in 3 spots, the spots where there is some welding indentations or divots. I feel like this is a defect and not a cleaning/care issue as my other pots do not have this problem. After reaching out to Le Creuset they told me that it is my problem, to clean it with barkeepers friend and season it. I have never had this issue with my other enameled cast iron pots, even with other Le Creuset lids. The warranty does not cover this issue so I will be purchasing Staub only ... MoreI own quite a number of Staub and Le Creuset because I love the different sizes that are good for different uses.
