I decided I wanted to stop using non-stick cookware primarily because they don't last a long as some other cookware. When I first got this pan I was a little worried by my first few attempts but now that I am getting the hang of it, I love it. I have really been forced into understanding proper cooking temperatures and that is really improving my cooking. This pan is great for searing meat, pancakes, eggs, and frying. I try not to cook acidic foods in it to help maintain its patina but it is nice to know that if I do there is a non-reactive enamel layer instead of bare metal. And just look at it :)

I’ve been using this 2-3 times a week for 8 months now and it still looks brand new (I’ve been putting it in the dishwasher that often too). This isn’t a fry an egg and it slides off onto the plate type of pan so don’t set your expectation on that. I usually start off by browning my meat, then sautéing onions and garlic, then deglazing the pan with wine or broth and incorporating that into the dish somehow. Everything comes off so easily that I could lightly rinse it off in the sink afterwards but I’m too lazy to even do that so in the dishwasher it goes and nothing has happened to the surface yet.Cons:1. not the most nonstick pan but I’m willing to sacrifice that for a safe surface to cook my food on.2. it’s heavy! You need to hold it with both hands so I usually need my husband to help me hold it up while I scrape food out of it. I’m willing to deal with the weight for a quality cast iron core.3. It takes awhile to warm up and you have to start on a low heat and gradually move up to a high heat to protect the surface. Again, a mere inconvenience and the bright side of this is that once it reaches the ideal temp it stays that while for a long time.3. because it’s coated, I have to use silicone coated cooking utensils. Other uncoated cast irons allow me to use metal on it. However, this is an inconvenience I am willing to tolerate in exchange for the pan being dishwasher safe unlike other cast iron pans. I also LOVE that the interior is black so I don’t have to be bothered with the discoloration from cooking. This truly has been one of the best investments I’ve made. I recommend this over all the other trendy pans.

After seeing a lot of positive reviews and needing a new frying pan I decided to purchase this product. I have always had non stick pans and wanted to purchase something that would last a lifetime (like my John Lewis stainless steal saucepans- so far going strong for 6 years and my dads are going on 26!)I had done abit of research on which frying pan, seeing that stainless steel are typically more difficult to work with (re not sticking) so I opted for a cast iron pan instead.I had minimal knowledge on how to look after this pan but understood that if you correctly "season" and wash the pan it will hold its non stick quality. Therefore, if you are considering this pan you must do your research on how to look after it or you will hate it.The first time I cooked ... MoreAfter seeing a lot of positive reviews and needing a new frying pan I decided to purchase this product. Therefore, if you are considering this pan you must do your research on how to look after it or you will hate it.The first time I cooked with it, everything stuck and I kept accidentally flicking things out the pan due to its shallow sides. - this was my error for using the pan to cook gnocchi, however, something to note if you wanted an all rounder pan this is not it.Once I got the hang of using the pan (a lot of oil, seasoning after use, drying thoroughly) it has been a dream.I got the black colour so that it won't discolour over time and it feels sturdy and well made (like all le Creuset!)However, it is extremely heavy. I am fairly strong but due to the short handle length and weighting of this pan it is almost impossible to pick up with one hand when cooking. The handle also gets very hot if cooking on the hob for long periods of time.As noted previously, this is not an all rounder pan. This pan is best used for meat and fish as it gives a lovely crisp coating without burning. If you use this pan for smaller food such as gnocchi or mixed veg be prepared for it to flick onto the floor. It is expensive for a pan however, it truly will last a lifetime and is much healthier and safer than non stick pans.Cleaning it is also very easy! Some hot water and a scrub daddy do the trick!

This is my go to pan. It is permanently on my stove. I start in the morning with eggs, grilled cheese for lunch, shepherd's pie for dinner and skillet cookie for dessert. AND you just have to rinse out the pan between meals. Or not. My pan is over 10 years old and perfectly seasoned so scrubbing is rarely needed but when I do have to "clean" it, I use water only and a mesh sponge. I have also read that cooking in a cast iron pan helps maintain blood iron levels so that's an added bonus! This is a lifetime plan - no screwed on handles to fall off and no non-stick coating to flake. It's def a keeper!
I have had limited pieces in the LeCreuset line until now and am so glad I made the investment into the additional pieces recently received from Bloomys online shopping ap!. Among my new kitchen tools is the 11.25" skillet. This pan has given a new passion in my culinary artistic expressions whether i am browning, saute' cooking, using it as a griddle, etc. It gets to even temperatures, it takes heat in such a way that I find it reduces the margin of error to overcooking or burning which I am happy to say has not happened once; they are easy to become accustomed to using. It goes without saying LeCreuset products are effortless when it comes to cleaning and after eating something so delicious who wants to be spending the extra time to not scratch your stainless ... MoreI have had limited pieces in the LeCreuset line until now and am so glad I made the investment into the additional pieces recently received from Bloomys online shopping ap!. It goes without saying LeCreuset products are effortless when it comes to cleaning and after eating something so delicious who wants to be spending the extra time to not scratch your stainless steel or Teflon surfaces when you can soak these pans, wipe them gently, dry them and put the away for next time. . You can feel the quality of any Le Creuset when you pick them up; this particular one leaves all the Cuisinart, AllClad and other similar styles of stainless steel composite pans in the dust! Truly you will taste the painstaking labor and intense scrutiny from 10 or however many quality control check points these pans receive before going in the box!! Just one or several; any product you get is worth every dollar on sale or not....and they really are not that heavy!!
Le Creuset 20cm enamelled cast iron frypan in beautiful Marseille blue. Perfect gift for myself for small quantity frying. Great gift to give anyone. Size advantage for quicker heat, cook, clean up, and a lighter weight for handling smaller quantities, which is easier for those with arthritis or lower hand/wrist strength. Side spouts make pouring off juices, or sauces controlled and easy. Cooks beautifully in it on all types of stove tops and in the oven. I add the matching blue Le Creuset silicone handle cover for comfort and safety. Cooks perfectly using gentle heat to medium heat (never high heat -not needed and damages your frypan). A little veg. oil or oil & butter, for non stick. Cast iron retains heat a long time off heat, keeping your food warm for serving ... MoreLe Creuset 20cm enamelled cast iron frypan in beautiful Marseille blue. I bought this for my daughter’s wedding shower. Both Alexis and her fiancé are still raving about what a fantastic skillet this. Given that I am not one for cooking, at all(!), I was somewhat shocked. But, she had requested that I purchase from the selection of cookware. I have to admit that I was somewhat surprised by the price for one skillet. Apparently, as I have subsequently been told by my friends and daughter, this is the ‘rolls Royce’ of pans! The sales people at Bloomingdales were also tremendously helpful and genuinely seemed to be excited about my selection. And, here I was going to buy a couple place settings of her fine China!! I will be back for that sometime soon, though— I still need to throw my shower for Alexis.
You pay a high price for Le Crueset but it is arguably the best cast iron cookware you can buy and pass on in your Will! This skillet is perfect when cooking for one and luckily for me, came on sale in my favourite colour. I have ordered through Myer online before and found them to be efficient. Given that it was a busy time of the year, it arrived in a fairly timely manner and saved me the hassle of battling a busy shopping centre carrying a relatively heavy object.
We love a good frying pan in our household, so splashed out to buy this for my husband for Father's Day. I bought it online, and am really disappointed. The handle is so short, and heats up so that you need a teatowel or glove to pick it up, and it's still top-heavy because of the short handle. I stupidly assumed it would be non-stick... nope. There's little that we can cook in it that doesn't require plenty of scrubbing to get it clean again. Not worth the money.
I cannot believe how happy I am to have gotten this pan! I've only used stainless steel pans or cast iron for over 25 years since I found out how toxic non-stick surfaces are. Recently, I've had too many things stick to the stainless and I went in search of a non-toxic non-stick pan. They don't exist in reality, no matter the fancy advertising. I had just given up when I saw this pan on sale and looked into it. It's like a regular cast iron pan, but already seasoned, it comes already non-stick. I am so happy. I've used it several times and have been very happy with it! I even fried an egg...it didn't spread out all over the pan, since the pan was too big, it's what I expected since that's what it does in a stainless steel pan that's too big. And, I flipped it easily ... MoreI cannot believe how happy I am to have gotten this pan! It is heavy, but not quite as heavy as my cast iron pan. So, I am a fan...and cannot wait to get the bigger size now.
