This I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. That comes with a price though hence one star off...they are expensive! But back to the product... the first tip I have, is to go for a darker shade rather than a lighter shade, as they can gather tiny little splat marks over the years. Easy to clean regardless of colour but darker in hindsight would be my choice. If taking one of the trend colours these seem to exist for ca. two - three years so stock up accessories in matching shade whilst you ... MoreThis I have had for many years, and it is simple to look after, and with some basic knowledge will last for my entire life - warm up slowly, clean via soaking and then wipe with a soft cloth, don't subject to temperature shock.Ethically I'm more comfortable with an item made in France than some Far East countries. This is my third purchase from Harts of Stur. I always find the staff to be super helpful, efficient and they always send out my purchases by next day! This is incredible as I’m based in Essex. The goods arrive in fully recyclable/biodegradable packaging. They have previously price matched 2 of these items and as they are reliable and so speedy at delivering the products I always prefer to use them instead of other suppliers.I have purchased the le creuset shallow casserole in cerise 30cm. This is an excellent sized pot with a lid which I will use most days. I have used it so far to cook a sausage casserole. The sausages had a lovely, even golden brown rather than the darker brown from my previous frying pan. The lid is very helpful and I prefer the larger handles ... MoreThis is my third purchase from Harts of Stur. The first ever Le Creuset casserole I got was for my wedding may moons ago. Since then, I bought at least a dozen items. I got this shallow casserole in pale blue because it looks so beautiful.I don't know why I bought all these Le Creuset casseroles because they are a pain tp clean. Most food stick to the bottom. While you can remove it after a long soak, after a few uses, the enamel gets stained and cannot be restored to its initial splendour.Another problem is that you should not put them in the dishwasher because it will damage it in the long run. And boy, it is so heavy to wash by hand. So, I only use them very occasionally and they just sit in a corner of my kitchen looking thoroughly stylish. The only two items I use more often is the non stick frying pan ... MoreThe first ever Le Creuset casserole I got was for my wedding may moons ago. Please note: do not over heat these, as they will get damaged.I must say the shiny exterior enamel of all my Le Creuset items have stayed as new as the day I got them. Shame I cannot say that for the interior.

Ordered the sage colour and was disappointed to find the enamelling was not thick enough to cover the dark coloured undercoat. Went to exchange but found the ones instore had the same defect. I'm sure it doesn't affect the use of the product but when paying so much money I don't expect such imperfections. I have bought le creuset cast iron before and never experienced this issue. Not the quality I expect from a brand like le creuset.
I first purchased the braiser in the 3.5 qt size, which is a good size for groups of 4-6 people depending on what you are making. I most often cook for 2, so this is the perfect size for 2-3 people. Like all of Le Creuset's cast iron pieces, it cooks evenly and is easy to clean. I use it for items as simple as scrambled eggs, frittatas, rice dishes, steak, sausages....the list goes on. I like that this also has a lid which gives it more versatility; it's nice not to waste foil as a "lid". The quality is excellent. I have many cast iron pieces by Le Creuset and have used them for 20+ years. They are spendy but they are made to last generations.
I was always in love with Le Creuset because of the the quality. Yes, its expensive, but as my mother always said I am not wealthy enough to buy cheap. Le Creuset is an investment for life. I am not only a hardcore foodie travelling around the world to eat at the most exciting restaurants, I also work with top chefs as their international PR my clients are worldwide. So food means a lot to me I bought this piece for cooking on a stove and in the oven. I liked the fact that it can be used for both and that it has an amazing heat distribution, is durable and beautiful. But then a month ago I started also baking my own bread. I got obsessed with bread making it relaxes and it is very rewarding when you see your results and one of the reasons my results are so good, is this casserole You need to keep the humidity in the bread when baking, and a very high heath. And this one is an ideal piece for great results. When my daughter moves on her own, this will be the gift she will receive for me. This says it all
I have two other Le Creuset casseroles, one slightly larger and the other the same size, which we had as a wedding present 37 years ago, and so needed replacing. This one is the perfect size for four people and fits perfectly into the AGA; its really useful being able to fry the ingredients and then cook them in the same pan on top or inside the AGA but before I had a gas cooker and used it worked equally well with that. The pan is smart looking, so you can serve the food at the table from the dish.
The product is great. Trying to buy it from David Jones was a nightmare. Bought it online to collect at store. Went to store 5 hours later over lunch to get it. Was told it hadn’t been “picked up” yet and I would need to come back later. Went to the kitchen section and got the cast iron pan in a box for them. Was then told that they needed to “pick it” and I couldn’t have this one. After a long discussion, I left the store without the product and went to a competitor that rhyme with “fyers”. What a terrible experience.
Such a big ticket item for a pot, it took me 5 years of saying ?you don?t really ?need? this to, ?You do bake a lot of artisanal breads and this would be perfect size for that and a whole lot more?. I call it my one pot wonder. The color is lovely and the piece is heirloom quality. Perfect size for stock and bread baking; also found deep enough to sous vide a couple tenderloin steaks! Elevates any dish cooked in it.
