Beautiful pot in a torn box.

After longing for a Dutch Oven for over 20 years, I finally got this 5.5 qt. size by Le Creuset, the brand that always seemed to be the most preferred in places like America's Test Kitchen etc. Ouch on the price, but it is so worth it and I wish I'd bought one 20 years ago. If you're not set on a particular color, you can find sales fairly often and spend a lot less than I did at full price. You have to preheat the pan, but it doesn't take all that long, and then you must keep the temperature on medium to medium low. The pan retains heat so much better than even my Al-Clad stainless pans, and by keeping heat low you don't get burning. The light color interior worried me at first, but it cleans up like brand new every time. All you need to do is be sure the pan is cool, then soak it full of water for 10 to 15 minutes. At that point, whatever was in it (including tomatoes) washes right out without scrubbing and leaving no stains. It's quite amazing, actually. I use this pan as much as I can, and I absolutely love it. The color choices are wonderful and fun. I have three different items now, all different shades of blue. The 5.5 qt. size is useful for almost everything I want to cook, and I can make double chili or soup recipes and the like in it and have half left over for a second meal. If I had it to do over, I might possibly consider the slightly larger 6.5 qt. size, but for the most part, I'm totally happy with 5.5 qts and I really haven't needed larger. This size is lighter and easier to handle than anything larger, and easy to clean/rinse in my sink without worry of dropping it. I love this pan so much I later bought a smaller 3.75 qt. version to hold whatever is left over from my first preparation, after half of what I made is eaten. The small size is useful to reheat the food I made in the larger pot, or to cook many other things, and I like having them both and find that I use them pretty equally. If I could only afford one, it would be the 5.5 qt. size. Beyond fabulous, and I'd give this Dutch Oven 10 stars if I could.

So many cancelled orders it seems and I was one as well. Not sure if there was a glitch in pricing as I don't recall seeing a Le creuset Dutch oven sale at Nordstrom as low as half off original price let alone the 9 qt. It was not on sale last year. Then again, I am new to Le Creuset brand. I imagine they either caught the glitch or oversold. Disappointing for sure. As for the comment left by another reviewer who actually received their Dutch oven, "THESE SILLY REVIEWS ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE DO NOT REFLECT THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT AND TRULY HAVE NO PLACE HERE. JUST DISGRUNTLED PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T GET THEIR WAY." Pot, meet kettle. Pun intended. They said nothing about the quality of the product either. Just complaining about complainers. Even though I do not own the 9qt Dutch oven, I'm very pleased with the quality of my 5.25 qt. I purchased it last year on sale. Although a bit heavy, it's easy to clean. I prefer to hand wash but it's apparently dishwasher safe. I love the ceramic coating and that I don't have to season the cast iron. Heats evenly throughout. Great staple piece to have and to pass on to children. Would love to add the 9qt if it ever goes on sale again.

Don't stand behind their product.
23 June 2024

I bought this pot in February. I used it for braising a few times and found the liquid escaped rapidly. After careful inspection the pot has four lobes in the lid, probably from the casing process. However, one of these is more pronounced than the others making the lid not fit correctly. When I try to boil water, steam escapes in this area rapidly to the point it seems like the lid is set at an angle. I filed a warranty claim and was told the issue is not covered by warranty, so now I have a very expensive pot that is basically useless for any task requiring a lid when cooking. I would not ever recommend buying a product from the company. I hear Staub makes some high quality Dutch ovens and may even be willing to stand behind their products when they are not made ... MoreI bought this pot in February. Every single pan I own
27 July 2024

About fifteen years ago I discovered the joy of cooking with cast iron enamel pans. I purchased a very inexpensive set that was beautiful, but cumbersome, dead heavy, and rather poor quality, suffering chips and worn enamel in short order. But it was enough for me to fall in love with cast iron enamel, and I decided to invest in Le Creuset. After getting my first pan, I was hooked; I love the way the heat radiated throughout the pan, evenly cooking food and keeping it hot from stove to table, so I continued collecting pieces. With so many beautiful colors, naturally it was impossible to stick with just one, so I now have several different colors in my collection, and I probably have too many. I display them on a metal étagière in the kitchen. My favorite piece is the large braiser in Coastal Blue, which is so beautiful that I can’t imagine why they discontinued it. Maybe it didn’t sell. Other favorites colors are Ocean, Meringue, and all the whites. There’s one tomato red Dutch oven, I don’t remember the actual color name, but it’s brighter than Cerise, and I love how it reigns among the white and blue. Oh, did I mention they are all such a pleasure for both cooking and serving? Yeah. And I’ve never had a problem cleaning up, even on the few occasions when food got burned on the bottom. Every piece still looks beautiful! Maybe it’s because with so many pieces, no single one gets constant use, but I’ve also heard from people who use one pan for everything, and I totally get it. If you’re not squeamish about a little lifting, I heartily recommend you try Le Creuset’s cast iron enamel cookware. Good luck choosing a color.

Other than my chef's knife, the 6 3/4 qt. Le Creuset Signature Enameled Cast Iron Round Wide Dutch Oven is the single most cherished piece of cookware I own. Love, Love Love this Dutch Oven

I debated about size, and finally chose the 5.5 quart one. I think it's perfect for me in preparing recipes thatmake enough for 4 or 5 people. I wouldn't want larger. Usually I'm cooking for just two of us, and I can getenough made for two separate meals, if not three. The weight isn't that heavy, it's easy to handle, pick up,and clean. When you cook with these Le Creuset dutch ovens, you have to modify your use of high heat. Usually I'm cooking for just two of us, and I can getenough made for two separate meals, if not three. The weight isn't that heavy, it's easy to handle, pick up,and clean. When you cook with these Le Creuset dutch ovens, you have to modify your use of high heat. With this kind of careful but not difficult care, the pan will continue to look beautifuland like new. I bought my pan in the beautiful dark teal color, which seems to now be discontinued. I alreadyhad a bunch of wood and silicone cooking utensils, and I don't plan to use metal except perhaps a soup ladle, which wouldn't scratch the pan anyway. The ceramic interior is very strong, but I don't want to risk scratches. This pan and this size is highly recommended as it's big enough but a manageable size and weight.

POOR QUALITY/FINISH
23 February 2024

I own many LeCreuset dutch ovens and braisers and recently purchased the 6 3/4 QT Round Wide Dutch oven in white. I love the size and lower sides of this dutch oven, however, it came with too many imperfections such as the iron being visible throughout the top of the lid and in the bottom of the pan. Looks like it was due to poor paint spraying and finish. I returned it to the store and the clerk ordered a replacement. When I got the replacement I noticed that they sent me the exact same dutch oven with the same imperfections so I took the second back to the store and was disappointed with the explanation from the store Clerck that the imperfections on the finish appears only on the white colored pans. This in absolutely not true! I have other size LeCreuset dutch ... MoreI own many LeCreuset dutch ovens and braisers and recently purchased the 6 3/4 QT Round Wide Dutch oven in white. This in absolutely not true! I have other size LeCreuset dutch ovens and a Braiser in white and they do not have paint imperfections (they do scratch easily). Too bad that the quality has gone down on LeCreuset products, not worth it for the price.

So versatile and beautiful

I bought my Round Wide Oven in the the color Merseille, a gorgeous blue. It arrived in perfect shape, and I am in love. This piece is as wide as a 9 quart Dutch oven, but with shorter sides, which is the best of both worlds to me. This means lots of surface area at the bottom for browning, but the sides are short enough for comfortable stirring and easy transfer to the oven or table for serving. The lower sides also make the lid more visible when the pot is on the stove top - an unexpected bonus. This pot is wonderful for braising, sauteeing, stews, casseroles, one pot meals and so much more. I just made Coq au Riesling, and it was a huge hit. I served it straight from the pot, with a large cutting board underneath to protect the table. What an easy way to create a beautiful dinner presentation, and a functional one too as the lid keeps the food hot longer. Clean up was easy - warm, soapy water and a gentle sponge. I am so thrilled with this pot!

The enamel QUALITY is POOR and DON'T RELY on WARRANT

I'm a working mom of two. I love my kids and cook every day to feed them well. I also appreciate the cozy house and esthetic kitchen. I decided to splurge money into 5 le creuset cookware pieces (small and big saucepans, dutch oven, pan and the braiser). It's very expensive however I decided that it will add aesthetics (color Chalot mmm, dreamy) also it will add variation of cooking techniques and also will serve me decades and finally will serve my daughter when she'll be the mom. I believed the quality promised by La Creuset and their lifetime warranty. And you know what- it's total SCAM! My beautiful chalot color pan got cracked very soon as I started to use it (EXTREMELY CAREFUL!!!!) and customer service just refused to fix or exchange it!!!! My beautiful chalot color pan got cracked very soon as I started to use it (EXTREMELY CAREFUL!!!!) and customer service just refused to fix or exchange it!!!! Their LIFETIME WARRANTY IS A SCAM!!! They will just blame you, that it's your fault. and today I noticed the crack on my Dutch oven. I already know there is no use to ask customer service for help. Also regarding esthetics- it's VERY difficult to keep these pieces interior and exterior clean, I have their brushes and cleaner, but it takes A LOT of time to clean them up to the degree you can not hide them in the closet but actually decorate your interior. So don't waste your money. It does not worth it AT ALL
