A fantastic tool for EDC. I work as an engineer and split my time between an office and a lab. I also am a DIYer, and find myself in need of a tool and don't want to go find the one for the job when I have one in my pocket that will work. Very useful. Very compact. I find I didn't use the saw, file, awl, etc etc. as much as I thought I would on some of my other multitools, so this is perfect for me.It's not one-handed open, like some others, but you can open it with one hand if you need to. The handle shape is a little strange, but you get used to it.My biggest gripe, silly as it may seem, is that I have to swap bits out entirely for the driver bits when using it. Very inconvenient. Leatherman products have been used (and lost) by the men in our family for years! My husband was using an old style Leatherman that had the tip of the knife and pliers broken off, but he wasn't real keen on getting a new Leatherman as this one was his uncle's and my husband had found it (lost in a hay meadow) shortly after the uncle had passed away. I knew he liked the Skeletool and decided to make it extra special by customizing it. I had his brand engraved on the blade and he was ecstatic on Father's Day! He said that now when he looses this one, at least we'll all know whom it belongs to lol! I will be ordering a case for it very soon :) The craftsmanship is top notch as always and customizing the tool was unbelievably easy! Thanks Leatherman!

I bought this leatherman for my son who requested it for Christmas. He is planning his second camping trip this year at Philmont. I thought he might want one of the other styles, but he said that even though their weights were not greatly more, every ounce to be carried for so many days had to considered and this was the one for him. I think it has been in his pocket since he received it and he frequently pulls it out to use it. It was good to see how much pleasure it gave him. It was also nice that it could be engraved with his initials.
To be honest, what first drew me to this tool is the Topo pattern. I carried a pocketknife for hiking and camping for a while, and as others carried Waves and Surges, I never wanted to carry one. This Skeletool has all the useful implements that I had neglected to carry because of excess weight, or because I didn't expect to "really need" them. Now I have those tools in a very lightweight kit. As others have said, it has just the tools you need - and that goes for campers and hikers as well. If you've avoided carrying extra tools and even avoided using certain equipment because you didn't want to risk equipment failure on the trail, you can now do it all with this 5 oz Skeletool.
Love this multi tool. Perfect pocket size EDC. Not too big not too small. I switched out the two bits to be ones that I use often and I love the extra bit storage spot. Within a week of carrying this tool I had the need to use every tool. I knew it was the perfect tool for me when when my family was on a bike ride and my daughter’s training wheel came loose. I pulled out the skeletool’s pliers and tightened it right up. Excellent piece of gear.
I bought this for a birthday gift. I researched several multi tools and decided this was the best choice. It looks really cool, it has everything I knew he would use, being so lightweight was perfect, and i personalized it. I honestly didn't know if he would really like it or not but does he ever!!! He loves it, uses it everyday and will not let anyone but me even touch it. Hes more than happy to show it off but dont even think about touching it!!! He said the tools are very easy to access, the blade is very sharp and the weight is perfect.I am so happy I researched this knife. Everyone has given it such great reviews and I can see why. As the buyer, I am very pleased with it....as the 48 year old Birthday boy sees it...he loves it...ALOT!!! I will probably buy 1 ... MoreI bought this for a birthday gift. This tool has everything you need. Nothing more, nothing less. Seriously, count the number of features you actually use on your mutlitool. It's probably around 6, which is one less than the skeletool becuase the skeletool has a screwdriver. Surprisingly, I found a screwdriver on a multitool an extremely underrated feature, and I use it all the time. Because its gone only the essentails, it's not bulky with random unnecessary things thrown on making it the perfect day to day tool. Couldn't recommend enough.
This is my 4th Leatherman. I’m on the hunt for the one that has it all and does it all but isn’t too big and is comfortable to handle. This is getting pretty close.I have had the Supertool for a few decades and it is great but the edges on the handles back then are a bit hard, which makes crimping a bit uncomfortable. The Surge is much better in that regard. And so is the Skeletool.I also prefer not to have to open the entire tool to get at the blade, like on the Supertool or using 2 hands, like on the Juice.I wouldn’t mind having scissors or a saw and a file, but then we get back into bigger tools or not a one handed blade design. So far I have had use for all the tools on the skeletool and have only really missed the scissors once. While I was at the office. Where we have lots of scissors.Mind you, the blade is super sharp, so in most cases it can do what I need scissors for.I foresee this being my everyday carry for quite a while, with the odd time where I will bring out the Juice for an evening or the Surge for going places where we won’t have access to other tools.
once the bits are secured in the driver, there is still too much movement. over time, natural wear on the bits might make this worse. increase the bit dimensions? also, I realize Leatherman is trying green universality, but an inner tray accompanying the box would be nice. these are expensive tools, and Leatherman boasts quality and precision. is a renewable material inner tray too much to ask? opening a loose tool feels like one has received a refurbished tool.
