A BIG Improvement for Leatherman in Nylon Sheaths

This nylon Leatherman sheath, with its snap-like closure, may be the first nylon sheath made by Leatherman that I will be happy with. So far, it has a cleaner profile, is easy to use, and adequately secure. ALL of my older sheaths with nylon velcro-closures came apart in months. Seams came unstitched, fabric unraveled through the seams, and holes wore through the fabric. I was NOT happy with those... This new one, with a snap-like closure, may work out much better after two weeks or so of using it daily.) My Leatherman lives on my belt every day so we will find out....

A quality sheath that; with a little TLC, can last the duration

Although this is a Leatherman Sheath, it's still just a nylon sheath, and doesn't have the durability of the Leatherman it carries. Once you accept that, it's a decent product. It fits the Leatherman comfortably, has two side pockets to fit a Bit Extender, I also carry a 1/4 bit adapter with a 10mm socket since I use that specific size often, and both that and the Extender fit snugly on one side. It has a pocket behind the Leatherman where I carry the Leatherman Bit Kit. The side pockets are good if you sew the bottom, otherwise the Bit Extender has the potential to fall through. I'm replacing one I've had for 5 years, which worked great as long as you periodically replace the velcro (you can find inexpensive velcro strips anywhere, the adhesive doesn't always stick ... MoreAlthough this is a Leatherman Sheath, it's still just a nylon sheath, and doesn't have the durability of the Leatherman it carries. The fabric itself has never failed, just remember to replace the velcro every so often and you're good to go. I like the nylon Sheath since I work around cars, and don't have to worry about the metal button front the standard sheath scratching cars, and the velcro makes for quick access to my Wave.

Good sheath, loose belt loop

I got a large nylon sheath for my original Super tool. The sheath is quite nice and the button is really sturdy. The material is nice and I expect it to last long. My only gripe is that after a couple of weeks the belt loop has sort of stretched and is looser than I expected. If it stays where it is now then I’m fine with it as I can easily fit all belt sizes through it and it’s not loose on a thinner belt, however if it keeps stretching it’s going to flop around too much for my liking. Time will tell, otherwise it’s a great sheath at a good price.

Great multitool sheath
20 April 2023

This sheath replaced the original that came with my Signal multitool. It fits two extensions on the outside sleeves. The multitool fits perfectly in the main area. The other two pockets are small but you can fit other items that are thin. I do recommend as a replacement for the original sheath if you need to replace it.

Great quality, wrong size on the chart and pathetic reply to my email to sort it out.
30 October 2021

Quality is awesome, I am a hardscape demolition Foreman and I use my leatherman all day every day on and off the jobsite. My issue is the fit. I checked and double then triple checked I was ordering the right size... everything told me I needed the large case, I have the Free P4 model. It is definitely not the large. There's enough room to put 2 fingers through the loop it now has above the tool with the flap buttoned. This now catches on everything all day getting in and out of my truck or equipment on site (skid steers are the worst) I also ordered a grey sheath as that's what it came with and it hides the dirt much better than black, but they sent me a black one. I sent an email and the response I got was absolutely baffling. Not sure if it was a computer trying ... MoreQuality is awesome, I am a hardscape demolition Foreman and I use my leatherman all day every day on and off the jobsite. My issue is the fit. Multiple options
30 October 2021

At first I was disappointed when I saw the leather sheath. I quickly realized the nylon is superior.1. You have the ability to mount and carry thr multi tool "scout style" ie. Horizontally. For people working outdoors and moving up and down this really helps.2. The sheath drys quickly but is substantially water resistant .3. Every pocket, nook and cranny is stretchy. Your options are expanded and the items stay snug. For example I have a whistle, flash light and full size fero rod with space to spare and without any mods.

Poor design compared to other models
16 January 2020

I personally hate this sheath. Others may like it ok, but I hate it. Im giving it 2/stars instead of one because the quality of construction seems ok and will hold the tool securely. It will probably last awhile, too. The button on this sheath will probably last longer than the Velcro on the other sheath, but its a little more difficult to open and close this sheath. There are trade-offs with the designs. The bad: it holds the tool too tightly, and with my large hands, its difficult to get out one-handed when I need it. My hands are large and strong, but its difficult for me to get my Wave out easily. It also does not have the hole at the bottom that allows you to place the tool in unfolded and ready to go, nose down. This hole is useful so you have a place to put the tool down while youre using it. It does not have the pockets necessary for the bits or the extender, like the other nylon sheath has. If you do not need or use these features, this sheath might be a 4-star sheath for you. But its still more difficult to access my Wave in this sheath. Its frustrating for me, because this is the sheath that came with my new Wave+ (I have two Waves that came with the good sheaths), and I hate this sheath so much, Id have bought the older Wave just to get the good sheath. The other sheath is far superior.

Quiet as the Snap, Secure as the Velcro
28 April 2018

I have not yet acquired the "new and improved" nylon sheath for my Wave. I can already tell by the placement of the snap and other details of the stock photograph, though, that I would have preferred the previous model sheath. It's not that I hadn't wished for something better than velcro to secure my Wave in place. I did - many times. So , instead of ordering a higher-end replacement, I upgraded the one I had. By slipping a powerful magnet between nylon and velcro of the flap, I used magnetic force to secure my Leatherman. As a bonus, I could keep track of small fasteners mid-project since the magnet could hold several to the flap from within it. Alas, this DIY-modified sheath recently succumbed to belt-loop stiching disease. So, I hope the snap outperforms the ... MoreI have not yet acquired the "new and improved" nylon sheath for my Wave. Alas, this DIY-modified sheath recently succumbed to belt-loop stiching disease. So, I hope the snap outperforms the velcro. If not, I'll be modifying another new sheath. Truthfully, I am surprised that none of the sheath offerings utilize sewn-in magnets to stay closed. It wasn't quite a Leatherman, but that magnet proved almost as useful - nearly as often. It certainly had more potential applications than a patch of velcro or a rivet snap. After all, isn't multi-use the goal?

So close to being perfect
8 July 2020

I've been a Leatherman owner/user for over 30 years and, excluding the OG leather sheaths, this (and the models with side pockets) has to be one of the best sheaths: sturdy nylon, snap button closing, good stitching, and I can carry a Removable Bit Driver kit in it without being bulky( as a matter of fact, it becomes form fitting for the kit and tool); so close to being perfect. However, there were two features that I missed from the previous iteration: the front accessory pocket behind the loop side of the closing, and being able to carry it horizontally. To remedy these, I did (4) stitches over the original ones going from top to bottom on both sides of the front panel, and then opened/removed the top horizontal stiching, effectively making a pocket between the ... MoreI've been a Leatherman owner/user for over 30 years and, excluding the OG leather sheaths, this (and the models with side pockets) has to be one of the best sheaths: sturdy nylon, snap button closing, good stitching, and I can carry a Removable Bit Driver kit in it without being bulky( as a matter of fact, it becomes form fitting for the kit and tool); so close to being perfect. However, there were two features that I missed from the previous iteration: the front accessory pocket behind the loop side of the closing, and being able to carry it horizontally. To remedy these, I did (4) stitches over the original ones going from top to bottom on both sides of the front panel, and then opened/removed the top horizontal stiching, effectively making a pocket between the elastic band and the nylon. For horizontal carry, I made a nylon strap using a piece of 2" nylon webbing and a couple of snaps that I pass through the belt loop. This is my second modified sheath, and both have been excellent since then; with this latest one I can carry my Rebar and it's Removable Bit Driver without the fear of loosing the bit kit as I remove the tool because it now rides inside the pocket, and not the main compartment. the horizontal carry allows me to carry it more comfortably snags a lot less on stationary objects; also, does not show when using an untucked shirt.LTG, please consider the "front pocket modification", as it is a relatively easy manufacturing change that can improve the versatility of the sheath, and I'm sure will be appreciated by many users. Thanks for your great tools and selection.

The perfect add-on for your Leatherman multitool
15 December 2022

Tough and versatile. This medium sized sheath fits perfectly with my Leatherman Wave multitool, rides well on hip and is readily available within my reach whenever I need to use the tool. I like the additional functionality of having pockets for a pen, socket extension and the additional screw bits. It was a no-brainer when I decided to purchase additional sheaths for my father and children as Christmas presents to use with their respective Leatherman multitools.
