Very handy attachment. Typical leatherman proprietary connections but will accomodate hex bits at the rachet end. Makes working in and around tight spaces like bicycles a lot easier. Best price I've found but still a bit of coin for a driver extension. If you'll use it it's worth the investment. Obviously not designed for high torques so be careful wrenching seized screws etc. Haven't had a problem but due to its size can see it breaking under enough stress. Apply some common sense and you'll get a lot of a use out of it. I bought it with a leather sheath on Lamnia that has a little space to keep it in as it won't fit inside the wave.

Leatherman used to mean quality Made in the USA with a exceptional warranty. This product however falls short. The Ratchet is made overseas and only comesWith a 2 year warranty, which considering the ratchet has a plastic shell, you mightBe out of luck when chemicals or time cause the plastic to become brittle and fail. Leatherman does not specify the Max Torque for this tool adapter but looking on YouTube you can see the plastic ratchet exploid in pieces before even registering on the Torque indicator. There is also a lot of twisting wobble even before the gears engage. I have waited a long time for this tool, but I will wait a little longer for version 2.0 because this tool is not built to last like other Leatherman Products.Returned, unable to reccomend.

Very handy Leatherman adjunct if you use your bits often ( and I do). Turns most Leatherman tools into efficient screwdrivers with smooth ratchet action on the back rotation, allowing one to do the job faster and more ergonomically in tight spaces even. Additionally though, the head also accepts ALL 1/4" hex bits making it a universal adapter between Leatherman tools and all commercially available bits. Note this includes drill bits with hex ends.It is light weight but sturdy, and holsters nicely into my elastic pen sleeve. It is essentially an improved Bit Driver.

Not much of a review, as I haven't used it yet. Magnet in bottom of socket is strong. Direction ring seems backwards - turn it to clockwise position to drive bits counterclockwise, but in such a compact tool, that's okay. Socket is made for Leatherman double-ended bits; regular 1/4 bits sit fully down to swallow all the driver portion. With the strong magnet and a small hex bit like a T-10, it is a bit (pun intended) of effort to extract the bit. I'd like to have seen some sort of max torque not to exceed listed somewhere, as it feels like a really light duty tool. Which would fail first - a Leatherman bit or the ratchet mechanism of this tool? I'd hope it's the bit, because they're a lot cheaper. It fit in the larger sleeve of the Leatherman pouch.
The ratchet driver is compact and works in three functions. Ratchet on and off and then locked in place. How much torque it will take I do not know and it does not mention it in the description box, but since this is made for quick small jobs I would not try to torque a screw or nut to much. It is a handy little tool to make your jobs easier. Fits my Signal well and uses my bits from other ratchet screw drivers perfectly. I would recommend at this time.
I don't think this ratchet will be of much use. It seems rather fragile. It will be ok for light work, but if you need to put any real pressure/force when using, most likely the gears will strip out. Anything predrilled or already has a hole, this should hold up. I have a good suspicion the the gears are plastic and the reverse/lock mechanism is touchy and may slip out of place.I think it's a great idea but needs to be extremely better built. The price tag for this is too high, $10.00 bucks at best, [$30.00 if they can makeit more reliable/durable using better material]Overall I see this ratchet failing any real test. I also ordered the mini ratchet head. Waiting for that to arrive. Sooooo, 3star is the best I will give until a better version can be made.
Surge has new ratchet driver that accepts Leatherman bits, as well as hex drive bits of nearly every configuration...held in place with the help of a magnet. Attach a socket adapter and 1/4" or 3/8" drive sockets and a whole new world opens up. The 1/2" drive components seemed in this tradesman's opinion a bit beefy to be used with a ratchet driver configured in the 1/4" drive format. The Leatherman Ratchet Driver will fit/attach to any Leatherman that is equipped with the Large Bit Holder not just the Surge...imagine a Skeletool outfitted with one of these, or maybe the Signal. I feel like I need to post this review as a counter to another reviewer. The plastic gear selector is just that, a gear selector. There is no force transferred through the plastic. It doesn't feel cheap or under engineered. It's made in Taiwan, but so are the Leatherman bits, and they've served me well for years of near daily use.I believe the video that the other review is referring to is an example of someone trying to test the torque failure rate using a 1/2" breaker bar attached to a torque meter and then an extension. The failure point was the metal itself. I saw another reviewer use a smaller torque wrench where damage started occurring around 20 ft. lbs. and the metal tab shearing off around 30 ft. lbs.For its intended use as a bit extension with a ... The failure point was the metal itself. I saw another reviewer use a smaller torque wrench where damage started occurring around 20 ft. lbs. and the metal tab shearing off around 30 ft. lbs.For its intended use as a bit extension with a ratcheting action, it's perfect. It's lightweight, has around 45 or so teeth, and can handle anything you'd expect a multi-tool to perform. It accepts the Leatherman bits as well as common 1/4" bits, retained with a magnet. I've been using it constantly for repair work the past week, and it's been a time saver.
Screwdrivers on penknives are a handy feature to apply a fastener without going to your toolbox. So is a ratchet drive really necessary? Well having used it, it does make those moments a bit easier. It has 46 positive pawls in a full turn and that really helps in a tight spot to tighten or loosen. There's a ratchet lock too, which seems a bit superfluous as you could just take it off. There's one issue with it . How do you carry it? Because if you don't, it's pointless. I sewed on a couple of fine velcro tabs to the side of my Leatherman pouch. Solid. I sewed on some elastic to the other side to hold my extension bar ages ago. Also works. tip- the velcro tabs were from velcro cable ties.
A number of other reviewers claimed that the item was plastic. Let's be clear--it has one plastic component-the black cylinder that is used to adjust the ratchet system. There may or may not be internal plastic parts that I cannot see.I would prefer that component to be metal, but I have no concerns about basic durability of the tool. It works well, fits my Signal nicely, and is compatable with my Leatherman Bit Kit, standard hex bits, and even hex drill bits. I'm pleased with it.
