The Leatherman Wave multi-tool is hands down their most popular model, made famous by its outside-accessible blades that can be deployed with just one hand. When it was redesigned in 2004, Leatherman gave the new Wave larger knives, stronger pliers, longer wire cutters, and all-locking blades. Perfect for any job, adventure, or everyday task, the Wave multi-tool is an international best-seller.

Best mid size multi-tool you can buy. Only one better is still made by leatherman but a little bit bulkier and thats the SURGE. Little pointer for the EDC guys out there. if you buy the bit extender, put it in your leatherman and mark the little open slot in the holder on the leatherman. now remove it, mark the center of the line you put on the bit extender and drill the flat area with a 1/8 drill bit. now your extender will be able to carry on your keys and no looking for a place to store it or clunking around your pocket.

Great Leatherman quality you would and should expect. The supplied ballistic nylon belt sheath is good to go too. I work in harsh environs and I'm very demanding of my gear. It's holding up very well. My only complaint is, the scissors are a little too wimpy. I compare them to my Gerber Multiplier scissors and the Gerber blows them away. I can cut thin metal with the scissors on the Gerber, not so with the Leatherman. Aside from that, great took. A good multitool like this Leatherman or a Gerber will really save you some time and trips to the work truck.

Great multi tool in a compact package. Blades slide out and lock easily, and all the interior tools slide out without breaking finger nails. Blades are sharp out of the box, Some slight shearing when cutting wire but not too concerned as they still work well and have replaceable cutters. This tool is well built in the USA. Leatherman has been doing this a long time and they really have it down with the build and design. The size is great for riding a belt or even in a pocket. Smaller than the Surge but a nice size for daily carry.

I love the Leatherman Wave +. It arrived within a few days after I ordered. I got it as a complement to my Surge. I'm making an emergency kit with my other Leathermans and be able to use the driver bits between them, along some other tools I'll be adding. It is significantly smaller and lighter than the Surge. However, I misread the description. I thought that I was ordering the Wave + in black like my Surge. The description actual meant the sheath was black. That's fine. At least I can distinguish them by color not just by size.
This is the most useful Multi-Tool that I've ever owned. I love it and with a pocket clip, I carry it daily. That being said, it's lost the simplicity of the original leatherman and I kind of miss that. If the Rebar had a pocket clip and bit changer, I'd prefer it. I've had a few little problems with the Wave +. The serrated blade became very hard to open and the saw blade wanted to open with it. The saw blade was also hitting the metal lanyard hole which I don't have pulled out to use. (many probably never notice that lanyard hole is on the wave.) I oiled the tool, but that didn't help. After opening and closing the serrated and saw blades several times, it suddenly loosed back up. Its done this twice. Another thing, the pliers got stuck tightly on something in the handles when I was closing it once. These issues just didn't happen with the older more simple Leathermans. I'm kind of looking forward to trying the new (April 2019) Leatherman Free P4. If I can can afford it at $140.00! It's locks closed magnetically...even the blades...everything can be easily opened with one hand.
Imo one of the best edc multi tools around. Not as big or heavy as youd think. Just as long and not too much thicker than a pocket knife would be, just a little wider. Very well built, every pivot is smooth and tight, even has brass washers for the outside 4 tools. Has all of the tools youd want and need and nothing redundant. Great communication from seller. One of the best prices for this on Ebay as well, honest seller. I would recomend this seller %100.
Leatherman tried to pack too many functions into one multitool. They gave away strength in the pliers to add replaceable wire cutting blades. They added a bit holder that only takes custom Leatherman flat bits that break instead of standard 1/4" bits. The rest of the tools are OK. The main cutting blades are wider than the original Wave. My first gen Waves are used frequently.
This is an amazing tool. I've been more of a swiss army knife kind of guy, so I never considered the leatherman. But with my new edc bag, I decided to get the wave plus. THE WAVE PLUS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I'm not a carpenter, or mechanic. I work in an office. But, this alone has helped me out. Just on the 1st day I got it, this is what I used it for: 1) FIXED MY BROTHER'S COAT ZIPPER with the pliers 2) CUT BOXES OPEN (the knife is sharp) 3) Cut some thick branches from my mom's rose garden with the saw 4) Opened a can of tuna with the can/bottle opener 5) Opened a bottle of beer with the can/bottle opener 6) Cut both thin and thick, wrapped stainless steal wire for my vape atomizer (with the replaceable wire cutters which really cut wires good) 6) Cut cotton for ... MoreThis is an amazing tool. I needed to get a molle case so i could place it on my bag. I can only imagine if i was a mechanic and worked with tools on a daily basis. But if you need a tool to carry for you for your everyday things, or in an emergency or a survival situation, this is mandatory!
I have a few Gerber multitools and wanted to try out the Leatherman for comparison purposes. Everything is well made and should stand up to years of use. However, their decision to use proprietary bits is a major drawback. They only include one flat/phillips bit in the package so you need to buy their expensive bits. To use standard 1/4" bits you have in your workshop or car requires a separate $20 adapter and is a major pain to remove the bits. Requires pliers. As a workaround, people end taking a standard bit extender and grinding down the end that fits into Leatherman. Online searches show all the workarounds. The Gerber MP600 multitool has a standard 1/4" adapter and less expensive. I give that 5 stars
almost everything you need in a EDC-size multi-tool. pliers, wire-cutters, straight-blade knife and serrated knife are all amazing. however, I do wish the scissors were better. would give it a 4.85/5 stars but there's no fractions stars, so I have to give the full 5.
